Chapter 633: The Monitor Is Such a Bastard

~12 min read 2,262 words

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2017 at Qianjiang University Affiliated No. 1 High School officially ended at 3:30 p. m. on June 28.

Students no longer lined up; they drifted out of Zhixing Hall in scattered groups, looking up at the sky and sun above, their expressions still dazed.

We really graduated…

Time flies like a white horse passing through a crevice; in the blink of an eye, three years had passed.

Many years from now, time and memory may gradually fade, but… some memories may still remain vivid.

For example…

Anyone who thought of this couldn't help but recall the scene that had just unfolded on stage during the final moments of the graduation ceremony, under everyone's watchful eyes.

No one expected that the cold, radiant girl who always shone on stage would, in front of everyone, simply lean in and kiss him.

And she kissed him for over a minute and a half!

Later, even the school administrators, whose view was blocked, sensed something was off and spotted Li Luo and Yan Zhusheng's overlapping figures through the gaps in the crowd.

But when Principal Wang and the others saw it was Li Luo and Yan Zhusheng, they silently withdrew their gaze, pretending they saw nothing.

Honestly speaking, Yan Zhusheng did something many people had fantasized about but never mustered the courage to do.

As a result, when everyone returned to the classroom and there was still some time before the evening farewell dinner, many finally gathered the courage to approach their campus white moonlight.

Even if rejected, it was better than leaving youth with regret.

"Did sister get mad?"

On the way back to the classroom, Yan Zhusheng noticed Ying Chanxi's gloomy expression and leaned in to ask with concern.

"You're so annoying." Ying Chanxi turned her head away, refusing to look at her, "Stay away from me."

"You're jealous."

"I'm not!"

"Why don't you kiss Li Luo too?" Yan Zhusheng said. "There are plenty of people around—just kiss him right here."

Hearing Yan Zhusheng's words, Ying Chanxi instinctively glanced left and right.

They were walking along Houde Road, the busiest asphalt path on the campus of Affiliated No. 1 High School.

After leaving Zhixing Hall, following Houde Road, the school playground lay to the left, and three classroom buildings to the right; at the end stood the basketball court and cafeteria.

After the graduation ceremony ended, everyone walked along this road toward the Gao San classroom building—it was indeed crowded.

Ying Chanxi turned her head to look at Li Luo beside her, her gaze falling on his lips, but after repeated hesitation, she still couldn't bring herself to act.

That would be too embarrassing!

How on earth did Zhusheng manage to do that just now?

But then she remembered that Yan Zhusheng had already appeared many times at Yuan Wanqing's concerts, and she found it perfectly reasonable.

After all, she was someone who had seen big scenes; it was only natural that Yan Zhusheng was bolder than her.

Li Luo knew Ying Chanxi was a tiny vinegar pot right now, so he stayed silent, avoiding provoking her.

He turned his gaze to Kong Junxiang beside him, leaned over, and started chatting; he didn't know what he said, but Kong Junxiang thought for a moment, then nodded.

Back in the classroom, Li Luo walked up to the podium, clapped his hands, and addressed the classmates who had all gathered:

"We'll leave for dinner at 4:30. There's still some time—chat with each other, or visit friends in other classes."

"At exactly 4:30, we'll depart from the classroom."

"I'm treating everyone to this farewell dinner—no class fees this time. Just enjoy yourselves."

As soon as Li Luo finished speaking, cheers of "Long live the monitor!" erupted in Class Eight.

Some students, with time still left, continued collecting graduation albums from classmates they hadn't yet approached, or sought signatures on their uniforms.

Others went to other classes to find people—perhaps to say goodbye, perhaps to confess.

The "see you again" promised at graduation might, years later, upon sudden reflection, reveal that they had become complete strangers, never to meet again.

For many, this parting would likely mean they now belonged to two different worlds, unlikely ever again to gather an entire class together like this.

Yet even so, Li Luo added with a touch of sentiment: "Next summer vacation, if you're free, we can get together again."

Everyone agreed enthusiastically, and soon the classroom erupted into loud, chaotic noise.

Li Luo returned to his seat, noticing Ying Chanxi seemed to have calmed down, and gently poked the strap of her shoulder.

Ying Chanxi shot him a glance, then huffed and turned her head away again, ignoring him.

"So, what are we eating later?" Xu Youyu asked curiously.

"To my dad's place," Li Luo grinned. "Why not take advantage of our own wool?"

"Now that you mention it," Xu Youyu laughed, "and it's close—we can just walk there."

As Li Luo chatted with Xu Youyu, he kept poking Ying Chanxi, tugging her hair, unraveling her ponytail and retying it into two side pigtails.

Ying Chanxi still ignored him.

Finally, Li Luo had no choice but to pull out his ultimate weapon.

"Xixi, I need to tell you something."

"Go ahead," Ying Chanxi said without turning around.

"Are you sure you want me to say it outright? Don't regret it later," Li Luo teased. "Turn around—I'll whisper it to you."

Hearing this, Ying Chanxi assumed Li Luo was about to say something embarrassing; she quickly turned her body and looked at him: "What are you going to say?"

"It's just…" Li Luo rose from his seat, leaned close to Ying Chanxi, and pressed his lips to her ear.

But he said nothing—instead, in an instant, he reached out, pinched her delicate chin, and tilted her head straight.

The next second, Ying Chanxi's eyes widened.

Savoring the girl's soft lips, Li Luo used his other hand to press firmly against the back of her head, preventing her from pulling away.

Only when he felt her body tense yet not retreat, lost in the kiss, did he slowly release her.

At this moment.

Next to her, Qiao Xinyan also widened her eyes.

Then came Xu Yinghuan, who noticed this side.

Next were Liu Shaowen, Zhu Yufei, Zhang Guohuang… in the back rows.

When Ren Zheng let out a sharp inhale, the rest of the class noticed something was off.

Soon, Classroom Eight fell utterly silent.

Shao Heqi had been sitting at his desk, agonizing over whether Ying Chanxi had opened his letter.

Or whether he should muster the courage to tell her his feelings face to face.

Though he knew she and Li Luo were secretly close, Shao Heqi still didn't want his youth to end in regret.

Just as he finally gathered the courage to stand up, he sensed something strange about the classroom atmosphere.

Wasn't it just noisy a moment ago?

Thinking this, Shao Heqi unconsciously glanced toward the window in the back row—and froze in place…

At this very moment.

The girl of his white moonlight.

The sweet goddess he had secretly loved for six full years.

Was right there…

Watching Li Luo kiss Ying Chanxi's lips, Shao Heqi gasped for breath, his eyes reddening, his heart drowning in jealousy.

But when Li Luo, slightly tired from bending over, lifted his waist slightly, Ying Chanxi instinctively straightened her back, her small lips chasing after Li Luo's.

Seeing this, Shao Heqi's heart instantly turned icy cold, shattered into a thousand pieces.

"What now?" Xie Shuchen nudged Liu Shaowen's arm and teased softly, "Give up yet?"

"Shut up," Liu Shaowen replied flatly, pulling his gaze away and unconsciously tidying his desk—even though there was nothing on it, he kept opening and closing his graduation certificate.

Finally.

Probably because she'd been holding the turned posture too long, her waist and neck ached, jolting Ying Chanxi out of her dazed state for a moment.

Realizing they were in the classroom, Ying Chanxi pushed Li Luo away, pressed her damp lips together, and glanced sideways.

When she saw every classmate's gaze fixed on her, Ying Chanxi's face flushed crimson. She screamed and buried herself in Qiao Xinyan's arms, unable to lift her head again.

"Eee~" Ren Zheng and Xu Yinghuan exchanged glances and burst into teasing laughter.

The other students immediately joined in, laughter filling the classroom with cheer—except for Ying Chanxi, whose ears burned, her head still buried.

Li Luo sat back down, satisfied, accepting the classmates' looks of admiration and respect with calm composure.

The girls looked at him with complex expressions, silently criticizing his move—but somehow, he didn't feel like a typical jerk.

After all… whether it was Yan Zhusheng or Ying Chanxi, both had kissed Li Luo right in front of each other.

And afterward, neither seemed particularly bothered?

Some students turned to Yan Zhusheng and saw she wasn't upset—she was even leaning forward curiously to peek at Ying Chanxi's flustered face. Looking back at Li Luo, they were awestruck.

No wonder he's class monitor… he actually pulled this off.

"No novel would dare write this," Zhu Yufei whispered to Zhang Guohuang. "Even his own book never had a scene like this."

"Are you kidding?" Zhang Guohuang rolled his eyes. "Would readers believe it if you wrote that in a novel? You've got to have logic."

"Then how's this logical?" Zhu Yufei pointed toward Li Luo and the others.

"Reality isn't a novel—it doesn't need logic."

"... Man, that's actually kind of logical."

…

Time quickly reached 4:30 p. m.

The students who had gone out had returned on time.

Kong Jun also came down from the fifth-floor office, carrying Ding Xiang, and walked out with the students toward the school gate.

On the way, Kong Jun pulled a sheet of paper from his bag and handed it to Li Luo: "Here, the thing you asked for—I dug through everything to find it."

"Thank you, Teacher Kong," Li Luo said cheerfully, taking it, unfolding it, studying it again and again, then nodding in satisfaction. "Yes, this is it."

"What is it?" Xu Youyu leaned over curiously. "Class Eight's final exam results from the first semester of 2016 at Fuyi High? Why do you want this?"

"Of course to keep as a memento," Li Luo said matter-of-factly. "Didn't Xi Xi set up a collection room in her new home? I want to collect something too—like this."

Xu Youyu studied it again, saw the rankings, remembered, then smiled wryly: "You're so childish."

"What's this?" Ying Chanxi came over to look. When she saw Li Luo ranked first and herself second, she was speechless. "Why collect something like this?"

"This is the only time in my entire life I ever beat you!" Li Luo declared solemnly. "I didn't even manage this when I became provincial top scorer in the Gaokao—don't I have to frame it and hang it at home?"

Ying Chanxi rolled her eyes and said nothing.

The students of Class Eight descended the stairs to the first floor of the teaching building and walked onto Houdé Road.

Hua Xiuxiu walked among them, gazing at the campus they were about to leave, suddenly feeling wistful: "I wish I could just take one more look."

"Then let's take one more walk around?" Kong Jun smiled. "We still have time."

Hearing their teacher say this, everyone responded eagerly.

So they wandered together back to the playground, strolling through campus.

"When you were freshmen, I remember Xi Xi fell right here at the finish line," Xu Youyu said, pointing to the finish line with a grin.

Ying Chanxi felt embarrassed, but then recalled how Li Luo had carried her to the infirmary back then—and her cheeks flushed again, her heart filled with nostalgia.

"There was another time," Yan Zhusheng pointed to the center of the playground. "During the badminton match, Xi Xi fell—I carried her to the infirmary too."

Ying Chanxi: "..."

After circling the playground, they followed Houdé Road to the basketball court and cafeteria, walked along the asphalt path to the other side of campus, and finally emerged from beside the library and administrative building—arriving once more at the school gate.

Ying Chanxi gazed at the school's winding paths, occasionally meeting Li Luo's eyes, then blushing and lowering her head.

After all, any secluded spot in the school had traces of the two of them.

During high school, when Ying Chanxi dragged Li Luo to film music videos, she had already wandered every corner of the school.

Many of those places were even used as shooting locations for their kissing scenes.

"Let's stop here," said Kong Jun, looking at the group of children with a satisfied smile. "Let's go eat."

The students of Class Eight stepped out through the main gate of Fuyi Middle School.

Li Luo walked ahead, glancing back at Fuyi Middle School's teaching building, his heart filled with sentiment.

In the three years since his rebirth, this place held too many beautiful memories.

But no feast lasts forever; ultimately, one must look forward.

"Graduation at last," Xu Youyu grinned, slinging an arm around Li Luo's shoulder. "You'll be coming right back as my junior soon."

Saying this, Xu Youyu rolled her eyes, glancing at Ying Chanxi and Zhu Sheng beside her, then released Li Luo and stepped up to him, rising onto her toes.

"Can't play favorites, right?"

Xu Youyu stepped back two paces, smiling sweetly at him, completely ignoring the stunned expressions of everyone around.

"The class monitor is such a bastard…"
