Chapter 665

~11 min read 2,081 words

At 10:30 a. m., Yuhang City Amusement Park.

Yan Zhusheng sat atop a carousel horse, expressionless, holding up two fingers beside Li Luo in a victory sign.

Li Luo captured the moment on camera, documenting their pleasant time at the amusement park.

But after dismounting the carousel, Yan Zhusheng turned and asked, "Li Luo."

"Hmm?"

"You… aren't afraid of those rides, are you?" Yan Zhusheng pointed to the roller coaster and the giant swing not far away.

"N-No…." Li Luo shook his head.

"Then why don't you take me on those?" Yan Zhusheng asked, puzzled. "You keep dragging me to these simple ones."

"I was just worried you'd be scared," Li Luo coughed.

Yan Zhusheng shook her head, assuring him: "I'm not scared. Just don't be scared yourself."

"I'm definitely not scared," Li Luo said, watching Yan Zhusheng's eager expression, feeling a slight headache. "Fine, fine. Let's go try one—first, the pirate ship."

After careful thought, Li Luo decided not to let a heart condition that wouldn't manifest for another ten or twenty years scare him.

After deep consideration, he chose the pirate ship—a ride among the more thrilling attractions that was relatively easier to accept.

Even at its highest point, the drop was only ninety degrees—nothing too extreme.

Yan Zhusheng clung to Li Luo's arm, enthusiastically walking toward the pirate ship, waiting in line for a while before boarding smoothly.

"Should we sit up front?" Li Luo asked. "The farther back you sit, the scarier it gets when it swings."

"Then we definitely should sit in the back," Yan Zhusheng said matter-of-factly, pulling Li Luo to the rear row.

"If you get scared or feel any discomfort, tell me right away," Li Luo gripped her small hand tightly, concerned.

"Okay," Yan Zhusheng nodded obediently, leaning against Li Luo, waiting quietly for the pirate ship to start.

With a bell ringing, the staff stepped away, and the pirate ship began swaying slightly back and forth, each swing growing larger than the last.

At first, there was no sensation, but once the swing exceeded forty-five degrees, every descent made Li Luo distinctly feel his heart plummeting, weightless and fluttering.

At this point, Li Luo still turned to glance at Yan Zhusheng beside him, observing her condition.

Yan Zhusheng noticed his gaze, turned her head, and met his eyes in confusion—her face showed no trace of fear or tension, calm and composed, even squeezing his hand back:

"If you're scared, just scream."

Li Luo: "..."

How could he possibly be scared… he was just worried about her health.

Li Luo thought this as the pirate ship's swing neared ninety degrees.

To be fair, while Li Luo wasn't particularly afraid of such rides, his body's instinctive reactions still couldn't be resisted.

At this stage, his hands still involuntarily gripped the rail in front, overwhelmed by a panic that he might fly out.

But reason kept telling him it was fine, forcing him to overcome the fear.

Even at the peak, Li Luo still had the presence of mind to check on Yan Zhusheng.

He saw her eyes brightening, clearly enjoying the sensation of weightlessness—completely unlike the screaming girls beside them, as if they were different species.

When the pirate ship gradually slowed to a stop, Li Luo couldn't help asking: "Aren't you scared at all?"

"Why be scared?" Yan Zhusheng tilted her head in confusion. "It's fun. Let's go try the roller coaster next?"

"O-Okay…" Li Luo followed Yan Zhusheng off the pirate ship, feeling his legs slightly unsteady, his whole body light and floaty; it took a while to shake off the sensation.

But already, Yan Zhusheng had dragged him into the roller coaster queue; when they reached the front, she pulled him without hesitation into the very first row.

"Do we really have to sit in the front row?" Li Luo hesitantly sat on the left seat of the front row, then glanced at Yan Zhusheng, who was eagerly fastening her safety belt, and twitched his lips.

"Roller coasters are meant for the front row, right?" Yan Zhusheng said excitedly like a child. "That's how you see everything clearly."

Li Luo rarely saw such vivid expressions on Yan Zhusheng's face; his earlier worry temporarily faded.

Still, once seated, Li Luo held her small hand and said: "If you get too scared or feel any discomfort, tell me right away."

"Got it," Yan Zhusheng nodded obediently, then asked curiously, "Why do you always ask if my body feels unwell? Isn't that usually something a senior sister should care about more?"

After all, in Yan Zhusheng's view, she was the healthiest of the three sisters, yet Li Luo treated her like a child—making her feel strange.

"Cough… you just didn't learn your biology well enough," Li Luo coughed, naturally unable to reveal the real reason. "The vestibular system in your ear detects spatial orientation and motion sensations like acceleration."

"The more sensitive your vestibular system, the more easily intense rides stimulate it, causing dizziness and nausea."

"It has little to do with physical fitness—some people are just naturally more sensitive; even a simple car ride can make them dizzy."

"Oh," Yan Zhusheng nodded, acknowledging it, though she wasn't particularly interested in biological knowledge.

She thought Xu Youyu's biology lessons were far more interesting—they truly sparked her learning enthusiasm.

Soon, as they chatted, the roller coaster finally began to move slowly.

It started with a classic slow climb, and at the peak, it paused deliberately, just to scare people.

Li Luo looked down at the drop below; his heart began pounding uncontrollably.

In the instant of descent, he felt a gust of wind slam into his face, his heart plummeting, weightless, as if all his blood reversed flow.

Still, he wasn't as dramatic as those in the back rows—he barely screamed, just gripped the handrails tightly.

But the roller coaster was far more intense than the pirate ship; Li Luo had no time to turn and check on Yan Zhusheng.

Only when the roller coaster slowly returned to its starting point did he snap back to reality, take a deep breath, and feel his pounding heart gradually calm.

He quickly turned to look at Yan Zhusheng and saw her unfastening her safety belt with reluctance; seeing him look, she asked cautiously: "Can we not get off? Can we ride again right away?"

"Uh… probably not—the staff will come and kick us out," Li Luo's lips twitched involuntarily, realizing his concern for Yan Zhusheng was utterly unnecessary.

She clearly had no problem at all!

On the contrary, Li Luo himself felt his legs still shaky when he got off; after stepping out past the roller coaster's barrier and standing on the path for a while, he finally recovered from the sensation.

Yan Zhusheng hugged his arm and looked at him with concern: "Is your vestibular system very sensitive?"

"I'm just average—maybe even a bit better than average," Li Luo said helplessly. "It's you who's too insensitive."

"Let's go play that again," Yan Zhusheng hugged Li Luo's arm and pointed at the nearby Ferris wheel, her voice brimming with eagerness.

"... Alright," Li Luo took a deep breath, finally shaking off the floating dizziness from earlier—he might as well suffer for her sake.

At noon, the two ate something simple.

Then they kept playing until past four in the afternoon, trying every thrilling ride in the amusement park.

Although Li Luo didn't feel dizzy or nauseous, he was thoroughly worn out.

In contrast, Yan Zhusheng grew more and more excited, bouncing and skipping with joy—he'd rarely seen her like this.

He felt that if conditions allowed, Yan Zhusheng would probably love all kinds of extreme sports.

These thrilling rides in the park were almost child's play to her.

"Eat," Yan Zhusheng said right after finishing the Drop Tower, running over to a nearby snack stall to buy an ice cream cone. After licking it twice, she held it out to Li Luo.

Li Luo took a bite—it was sweet and cool, and his slightly dizzy head eased a little.

Then he pulled out the amusement park guide he'd picked up at entry, scanned it once, and finally exhaled in relief: "After the Drop Tower, there's nothing else that's really thrilling."

"Oh," Yan Zhusheng replied with a hint of disappointment. Seeing how drained Li Luo looked, she didn't ask to ride any more rides.

So the two went to the nearby haunted house and gave it a try.

But after emerging from the haunted house, Li Luo felt utterly unimpressed—he decided next time he'd bring Ying Chanxi and Xu Youyu instead.

Yan Zhusheng's courage was simply too great—she even dared to tug at the staff's masks and curiously poked at the coffin door to see if it could open.

This made Li Luo feel the haunted house wasn't scary at all.

If it were Ying Chanxi, Li Luo could easily imagine her trembling with fear, burying herself in his arms, sobbing quietly, eyes tightly shut, clutching his clothes the whole time.

Men loved this kind of overwhelming protective instinct—no matter how scared they were at first, once the girl needed them so desperately, all fear vanished.

If it were Xu Youyu, even if she wasn't afraid of the haunted house, she'd pretend to be terrified, cooing and begging Li Luo to hold her.

Just like in bed—she was an actress through and through, always performing, always coming up with the most elaborate tricks.

In comparison, Yan Zhusheng was like a curious child—on this front, the satisfaction she offered him was as meager as her chest.

Yet it was precisely this innocence and spontaneity that somehow touched Li Luo's sensitive nerves in other ways.

After leaving the haunted house, the two boarded the sightseeing train circling the amusement park, taking photos and resting while reviewing the rides they'd experienced.

As evening fell and the sun dipped toward the horizon, they joined the queue for the Ferris wheel and stepped into one of the cabins.

"After the Ferris wheel, we should probably head home," Li Luo leaned back against the seat, sighing comfortably as he gazed out the window at the sunset's glow.

"I heard," Yan Zhusheng said suddenly, looking up at the other cabins above them, "that if you confess at the very top of the Ferris wheel, the two of you will be together forever."

"So are you going to confess?" Li Luo laughed.

Yan Zhusheng shook her head: "Even without this, we'll be together forever."

"Well, I've got another version," Li Luo smiled. "If two people kiss nonstop from the moment they board the Ferris wheel until it ends, they'll be loving each other for life."

"Did you just make that up?" Yan Zhusheng tilted her head.

"Do you believe it?"

Yan Zhusheng said nothing. She leaned forward, straddled his lap, and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck.

The two kissed beneath the fading sunset, rising slowly as the Ferris wheel turned.

But as Li Luo savored the warmth and softness in his arms, he suddenly felt something wrong with Yan Zhusheng's small hands—she was stealthily trying to do something naughty. Startled, he broke the kiss.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing," Yan Zhusheng blinked innocently. "Aren't you supposed to like me doing this?"

"But we're outside… not at home," Li Luo hissed, glancing left and right, checking no one had noticed—then he exhaled slightly.

"But Senior said you'd definitely like this," Yan Zhusheng didn't stop her hands, her eyes bright with anticipation. "So… do you like it?"

"Hmm…" Li Luo quietly picked up Yan Zhusheng's sun-protective jacket and wrapped it around their waists, then whispered, "Don't move too much."

"Oh," Yan Zhusheng nodded obediently, snuggling into his arms. "Then I'll be gentle."

Li Luo held her tightly, speechless, as if his voice had been cut off—only his increasingly heavy breathing could be heard.

Unfortunately, this Ferris wheel wasn't particularly large—it took only about fifteen minutes to complete one rotation.

After they got off, Li Luo adjusted his pants before feeling any better.

Once they exited through the barrier, he immediately grabbed Yan Zhusheng's hand and hurried toward the amusement park's exit, dragging her all the way back to the car, stomping on the accelerator as they sped home.

"Li Luo, Senior also said that if we were in the car, you might like it too?"

"No!" Li Luo cut her off quickly. "I don't want to cause an accident! Calm down! Don't learn everything!"

"Oh…"
