Chapter 683: Tonight You
5:30 a. m.
The alarm clock rang on time.
Li Luo opened his eyes, stared at the ceiling above him, slowly shook off his drowsiness, then rolled over and turned off his phone alarm, sitting upright on the bed and stretching.
He reached out and patted the woman beside him, whispering, "Time to get up, Youyu."
"Mmm…" Xu Youyu woke up groggily, wriggling in bed for a while before turning her back to Li Luo, burying her head in the pillow, still unable to rise.
Li Luo smiled, leaned closer to her back, pressing gently against her, and whispered in her ear, "Who was it last night saying I wouldn't be able to get up this morning? Now who's the one who can't get up? Hard to guess, isn't it?"
"Shut up…" Xu Youyu muttered weakly, "I'm so sleepy."
"Get up."
"Just five more minutes."
"You told me yourself before bed that on the first day of military training, the class assistant has to wake up just as early," Li Luo's hand slid along her back and neck, gradually moving over her shoulders, "You even begged me to wake you up."
"I can't get up," Xu Youyu groaned in defeat, "Let me sleep more."
"That won't do," Li Luo played with her a moment longer, then shifted closer, "How about we do some morning exercises to wake you up?"
At those words, Xu Youyu immediately felt warmth against her lower back.
Realizing what it was, she panicked, scrambled out of bed, yanked on her slippers, and dashed toward the bathroom.
"I'm up!"
"Come on, come on!"
"Hurry up and wash up! We'll be late!"
Watching Xu Youyu's slender, curvaceous figure flee into the bathroom, Li Luo grinned, eyes half-closed, thoroughly enjoying the view.
Only after Xu Youyu had fully disappeared into the bathroom did Li Luo slowly pull back the covers, rise from the bed, and follow her inside.
Morning exercises were out of the question—there simply wasn't enough time for them.
After washing up, Li Luo took Xu Youyu downstairs and drove to Qingxi Dormitory.
Sitting in the passenger seat of the Audi A6, Xu Youyu rubbed her lower back and stretched her legs, then sighed deeply: "We're supposed to be in military training today—can't you save some energy for yourself?"
"I've already held back plenty," Li Luo chuckled, "If you didn't keep asking for breaks, I wouldn't have had to tire you out this long."
"I'm exhausted, okay!" Xu Youyu complained, clutching her back, "Aren't you tired at all? If I moved like you do all night, I'd be dead."
"You know that, huh?" Li Luo rolled his eyes, "Most of the time it's me doing the moving, yet you're always the first to cry out."
"You bullied me for so long in the living room," Xu Youyu grumbled, refusing to admit the truth, "The living room's terrain is terrible—no matter where I held on, it was way harder than the bed. Otherwise, I could've lasted much longer."
"Can't do it yourself, so you blame the environment?" Li Luo laughed, "But after we went back to my room, weren't you just the same?"
"How can that be the same?" Xu Youyu retorted, "I already used up my best state in the living room. If we'd started in bed, you'd see how much better I'd be!"
While waiting for the traffic light, Li Luo glanced at Xu Youyu's stubborn face and could only sigh helplessly: "You're tough everywhere—except your mouth."
Back at Qingxi Dormitory, Li Luo told Xu Youyu to wait in the car while he went upstairs to change into his military training uniform.
When he hurried upstairs, Wen Zexuan and the other two had already woken up, changed into their uniforms, washed up, and were about to leave.
"Oh, our class leader's back?" Wen Zexuan grinned teasingly at Li Luo, "Did you overexert yourself last night? Still got energy today?"
"Why don't you ask your senior sister and find out?" Li Luo chuckled, quickly grabbing his camouflage uniform, stuffing the candy and menthol oil he'd bought last night into his pocket, then applying Xixi's sunscreen to himself, "Let's go."
"He wants to try? It's not that easy," Cheng Xin muttered under his breath as he followed Li Luo out the door.
Wen Zexuan heard this and snorted with laughter: "Little Xin Xin still has too little experience."
"It's just that we still have military training."
"Otherwise, just wait—once training's over, I'm gonna be in full-blown firestorm mode."
"Really?" Cheng Xin looked skeptical, recalling the image of the sophomore medical student he'd seen before, "That senior sister's so beautiful—she doesn't seem like the type."
"What type? It's the new era—do you still care about that?" Wen Zexuan shook his head, smiling. "When the mood's right, that's all that matters."
"I don't believe it," Cheng Xin kept shaking his head.
The four of them chatted as they went downstairs, and Li Luo walked over to the car and tapped on the window.
Xu Youyu heard the sound and immediately got out to join them.
Cheng Xin noticed Xu Xuejie had gotten out of Li Luo's car directly, and couldn't help staring a little longer, his expression full of envy.
"Good morning," Xu Youyu smiled warmly at the younger students, showing no trace of how she'd begged for mercy on Li Luo's bed last night.
"Good morning, Senior Sister," Wen Zexuan glanced at Xu Youyu's flushed face and could only sigh—Li Luo really knew how to enjoy himself.
Too bad Li Luo had gotten to her first back in high school—if not, Wen Zexuan would've abandoned his current medical sophomore long ago.
Still, he had his own boundaries on this matter.
Never touch a woman who already has a boyfriend—no matter how thrilling, your life matters more.
So after learning Xu Youyu and Li Luo were a couple, Wen Zexuan suppressed his thoughts, rarely even looked at Xu Youyu, to avoid letting her beauty warp his usual tastes.
If his standards got too high, it'd be trouble.
"Wearing the camouflage uniform, you actually look a bit more handsome," Xu Youyu walked beside him, occasionally turning to glance at Li Luo, studying his appearance, then nodding with a smile.
Li Luo looked down at himself, feeling nothing special.
But with his current height of one meter eighty-five, his well-trained physique, and his handsome, well-maintained face, the military uniform perfectly suited him, enhancing his sharp, spirited aura.
"I remember last year, when you wore the military uniform, you looked really good too," Li Luo whispered softly into Xu Youyu's ear.
If Wen Zexuan had seen Xu Youyu in last year's uniform, he'd instantly realize she was exactly the girl he'd mentioned last night—the one whose beauty couldn't be hidden even in military attire.
Hearing this, Xu Youyu gave a sultry smile, leaned close to Li Luo's ear, and bit gently: "Then I'll get a uniform for myself—tonight, you wear yours, and I'll be your instructor, okay?"
"You, a little rookie, be an instructor?" Li Luo laughed, teasing, "I should be the instructor, giving you a proper training."
"Fine by me," Xu Youyu, feeling revived, immediately reverted to her bold self, "Then Instructor Li, don't you dare collapse."
"Save that line for yourself."
…
The group left Qingxi Dormitory, passed through the south gate, and soon arrived at the entrance to the east playground.
Zhong Leixiang, who had arrived early, waved to them. As the time drew closer to six, all students in Humanities Class One had gathered, and they also met Instructor Zhang, who was in charge of their military training.
Before the military training officially began, Li Luo shoved a pack of candy and menthol oil into Xu Youyu's pocket: "If any classmate feels dizzy, have them eat a candy and rub on some menthol oil—it'll help. Keep an eye out for them later."
"Alright." Xu Youyu nodded. "You do your best."
After accepting Li Luo's items, Xu Youyu stepped aside with Zhong Leixiang.
As a class assistant, you only needed to arrive early on the first morning of military training; after that, the freshmen could manage on their own.
Their subsequent duties would gradually shift to the Political Work Group, handling organizational and promotional tasks.
Soon, the clock struck exactly six.
Li Luo and the others were led by Instructor Zhang for morning exercises, which ended at half past six, after which they lined up and headed to the cafeteria for breakfast.
They gathered again at seven-thirty and proceeded to the playground, where the military training opening ceremony began at eight.
Only after the opening ceremony ended at half past eight did this year's military training for new students at Qianjiang University officially commence.
For Li Luo, the intensity of the military training wasn't too high.
Aside from the harsh midday sun, everything else was manageable.
At the morning break at ten o'clock, everyone scattered to seek shade under the trees.
At that moment, a sophomore girl in a white shirt and black shorts strolled calmly through the playground entrance.
She carried a bag of drinks, found Humanities Class One, and smiled as she waved toward Wen Zexuan.
"Guys, see that?" Wen Zexuan patted Cheng Xin's shoulder triumphantly, then sprang up from the ground and strode swiftly over to the sophomore girl.
Cheng Xin watched the two figures with envy, whispering: "She really came? Xuan-ge is too strong—he's only known her for three days!"
"So what if she brought drinks?" Li Luo said casually. "If you were a sophomore and met a freshman girl who was doing military training, wouldn't you bring her drinks too?"
"Of course I would—if I could." Cheng Xin answered instinctively.
"Exactly," Li Luo chuckled.
"But… guys and girls are different."
"How are they different? Don't keep treating girls like some special species—they're people too. What's so wrong with bringing drinks?"
. cO
"Then what about this…" Cheng Xin silently raised his hand and pointed toward Wen Zexuan.
Li Luo followed his gaze and saw Wen Zexuan leaning close, whispering something to the sophomore girl, making her laugh.
The next second, Wen Zexuan stole a kiss—leaving the girl stunned, her cheeks flushed, yet offering no resistance.
"…That's still got some substance to it," Li Luo smirked. "But don't copy it—this move relies too much on looks."
If Cheng Xin tried to kiss her like that, Li Luo suspected he'd get slapped twice.
Push it back seven or eight years, and he'd probably end up in jail.
"Just say I'm ugly outright." Cheng Xin sighed heavily.
"That's not going too far," Li Luo patted Cheng Xin's shoulder. "Exercise more, keep your posture, stay healthy—most guys aren't ugly. Often, they're just fat."
With Li Luo's reassurance, Cheng Xin felt a little better.
Not long after, Wen Zexuan saw off the sophomore and came over with the bag of drinks, handing one to each of his three roommates.
"Well? Learn anything?" Wen Zexuan leaned close to Cheng Xin, jabbing his elbow into his shoulder.
"Can't learn it," Cheng Xin shook his head vigorously.
The morning's little episode passed.
In the afternoon, Xu Youyu arrived at the playground with a bag and brought drinks to Li Luo and his roommates.
Cheng Xin hurried to thank him, then watched as Li Luo stood up and walked with Xu Youyu to the shade of a tree, chatting intimately, once again wearing an expression of envy.
"Having a girlfriend is great…" Cheng Xin sighed, then turned to Bai Haoran. "At least I've got you to keep me company—I'd go crazy without you."
"I don't feel that way—it's just a drink," Bai Haoran sighed. "You can buy one yourself."
"How can it be the same?"
"It's all drinks. What's different?"
"You don't get it," Cheng Xin sipped the drink Xu Youyu had brought, thinking how wonderful it would be if his own girlfriend had brought it.
Watching his two roommates—one already had a class assistant girlfriend since the start of term, the other nearly had a sophomore girl wrapped around his finger within a week—Cheng Xin was intensely envious, desperate to take action himself.
But just as his heart began to stir.
That night.
A girl wearing round-framed glasses, radiating scholarly charm, walked in through the playground entrance, carrying a bag.
She looked around, finally found Humanities Class One, and smiled as she waved at Bai Haoran.
Bai Haoran, resting, saw her and immediately wore a helpless expression. He stood and walked over, taking the drinks from the girl.
As soon as he turned back to the group, Wen Zexuan pounced on him.
Cheng Xin, beside him, stared in disbelief: "Who is that girl? Your girlfriend? Didn't you say you weren't interested in romance?!"
Cheng Xin's face was filled with anguish, as if his own brother had stabbed him in the back—he could barely breathe from sorrow.
Bai Haoran shook them off, exasperated: "That's my sister! My real sister! Stop making stuff up!"
"I told her not to come find me."
"Still came. Annoying as hell."
"Your sister's pretty nice-looking," Wen Zexuan rubbed his chin. "How old is she?"
Hearing this, Bai Haoran shot him a glare: "Get lost."
"Hao-ge," Cheng Xin tugged Bai Haoran's sleeve, whispering, "I was wrong earlier. Look…"
"You too. Get lost."
