Chapter 697: Yan Zhusheng: A Little Hot

~11 min read 2,180 words

In the last row of couple seats in the movie theater.

Yan Zhusheng and Xu Yinghuan bought couple movie tickets; their seats were right next to each other, and no other couples were nearby.

After sitting down, Yan Zhusheng curiously leaned over to peek at the neighboring seat.

Since couple seats resembled private booths with partitions on both sides, you couldn't just turn your head to see the neighbors—you had to lean out most of your body to see the two beside you.

Xu Yinghuan was hugging a bowl of popcorn, feeding one piece into Zhao Rongjun's mouth, when she turned back and saw a head beside her—she instantly jumped in fright.

"Holy shit!" Xu Yinghuan instinctively shrank into Zhao Rongjun's arms; once she recognized Yan Zhusheng, she stared blankly, "Zhusheng, are you trying to scare me to death? Why are you staring at us?"

"Just looking." Yan Zhusheng blinked, then asked, "Have you ever sat in couple seats before?"

"Of course we have," Xu Yinghuan nodded. "We came twice during summer vacation—this is the third time. Why are you asking?"

"No reason." Yan Zhusheng shook her head. "Then don't sneak a peek at us later."

Xu Yinghuan: "... You were the one who started sneaking a peek."

Yan Zhusheng said nothing and immediately pulled her head back.

Originally, Xu Yinghuan had no intention of sneaking a peek at the neighbors—she just wanted to enjoy the movie with Zhao Rongjun.

But Yan Zhusheng's remark stirred up her curiosity.

Since Zhusheng was the one who peeked first... Xu Yinghuan thought to herself, then leaned out most of her body to glance over.

The next second, she froze.

At that moment, Yan Zhusheng was already straddling Li Luo's lap, leaning down to kiss him passionately.

Watching this, Xu Yinghuan's cheeks flushed; she imagined herself doing the same with Zhao Rongjun—and immediately felt embarrassed.

But in that moment of stunned silence, Li Luo noticed Xu Yinghuan and quickly pushed Yan Zhusheng away.

Yan Zhusheng turned her head, seemingly unsurprised: "Huanhuan, do you want to try kissing Zhao Rongjun?"

"N-No way!" Xu Yinghuan, usually lively and bold, was now flustered, her head feeling like it was smoking, "There are cameras in the theater!"

"So what?" Yan Zhusheng tilted her head in confusion. "We didn't even take off our clothes."

Xu Yinghuan: "... Is that the issue?"

"So if someone's watching, you won't dare kiss Zhao Rongjun?" Yan Zhusheng asked again. "Wait—have you ever kissed Zhao Rongjun at all?"

Asked this, Xu Yinghuan fell into awkward silence, then muttered softly: "... Not yet."

"Huh?"

Now not only Yan Zhusheng, but Li Luo too were surprised.

But remembering Zhao Rongjun's personality, Li Luo immediately understood.

Unless Xu Yinghuan kissed Zhao Rongjun first, Li Luo truly couldn't imagine the scene or possibility of Brother Zhao initiating a kiss.

Li Luo thought this, but Yan Zhusheng said: "Then just kiss him directly."

"Y-You're too loud!" Xu Yinghuan hurriedly told Yan Zhusheng to stop. "The movie's about to start—I'm not chatting with you anymore."

Saying that, Xu Yinghuan immediately pulled back, glanced at Zhao Rongjun, and found his face flushed red, his hands clenched on his knees, unsure where to put them.

Somehow, despite having felt shy after talking with Yan Zhusheng, Xu Yinghuan now saw Zhao Rongjun's state and couldn't help but burst into a laugh.

"Did you hear that?" Xu Yinghuan whispered into Zhao Rongjun's ear.

"N-No! I didn't hear anything!" Zhao Rongjun quickly shook his head in denial.

Xu Yinghuan loved him like this, so she leaned closer, resting against his shoulder: "I'm not teasing you anymore—can you hold me?"

"Mm..." Zhao Rongjun nodded, then carefully lifted his left hand and gently rested it on Xu Yinghuan's shoulder.

Feeling the softness and warmth of the girl in his arms, even though they'd been dating for over two months, Zhao Rongjun still hadn't fully adjusted.

Not to mention kissing—he was still nervous even about hugging.

Only holding hands had gradually become natural; he no longer sweated profusely the moment he touched her hand, as he had at the beginning.

Even so, holding Xu Yinghuan now, Zhao Rongjun felt his heart pounding, even hearing clearly the pulse of blood surging through his veins.

Even when the movie started and Spider-Man appeared on screen, Zhao Rongjun couldn't fully shift his attention away.

Whenever Xu Yinghuan moved slightly and fed him two pieces of popcorn, he instantly lost control.

Compared to this small, tender, romantic scene beside them, the neighboring couple's behavior was far more unrestrained.

Before the movie started, Yan Zhusheng had already straddled Li Luo's lap and kissed him, even eating popcorn mouth-to-mouth.

Only after the movie began did they finally separate.

But as they watched, their posture grew increasingly odd.

Li Luo simply leaned back into the corner of the couple seat; Yan Zhusheng sat diagonally opposite his thighs, then stretched her long legs across his lap, half her body resting against him.

In her dorm, Yan Zhusheng had specifically changed into the white dress Li Luo had once given her.

Now, sitting like this on his lap, Li Luo's right hand easily slid beneath the hem of her dress, stroking the soft skin of her thighs.

Yan Zhusheng trembled under his touch, losing all interest in the movie.

"Again," Yan Zhusheng whispered softly into Li Luo's ear, arms tightly wrapped around his neck.

When the movie ended, Xu Yinghuan and Zhao Rongjun stood up and greeted the neighboring couple.

Then Xu Yinghuan saw Yan Zhusheng's flushed cheeks and wobbly legs—she looked thoroughly worn out.

"You're..."

"A little hot," Yan Zhusheng composed herself, clinging to Li Luo's arm, speaking seriously.

"Cough... Let's go, it's getting late," Li Luo, arm around Yan Zhusheng's waist, cleared his throat. "I drove—should I drop you off?"

"No need," Xu Yinghuan hugged Zhao Rongjun's arm, grinning. "We'll walk back—it's not far from the dorm."

Young lovers in the heat of romance naturally wanted more time alone together.

So Li Luo said nothing more, nodded, and the four of them exited through the corridor, leaving Hall Six.

On the way, they encountered Song Yu and Jiang Feiya also leaving the theater.

Li Luo politely asked if they wanted a ride back to the dorm.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Feiya didn't refuse—she nodded and accepted right away.

Song Yu beside them immediately looked disappointed.

He'd originally planned to walk back to the dorm with Jiang Feiya at night… such a perfect chance for alone time, gone like that.

With a faint air of resentment, Song Yu followed Jiang Feiya, joining Li Luo and Yan Zhusheng as they headed to the underground parking lot.

Xu Yinghuan and Zhao Rongjun bid them farewell on the first-floor elevator, then left hand in hand.

"Aren't they riding back in your car?" Song Yu couldn't help asking Li Luo.

Logically, Xu Yinghuan and Zhao Rongjun were both Li Luo's high school classmates—if he were driving anyone home, they should've had higher priority.

If Xu Yinghuan and Zhao Rongjun had taken Li Luo's car, there wouldn't have been room for him and Jiang Feiya.

Then he could've walked back to the dorm with Xiao Ya, right?

Wait… Song Yu suddenly realized something here.

If Zhao Rongjun and Xu Yinghuan had chosen to ride, Jiang Feiya—given her personality—would've taken the last seat and left him to walk back alone.

Thinking of this, Song Yu actually felt a bit relieved.

"They just want to spend more time together," Li Luo chuckled.

Song Yu gave a forced laugh in return; now that he'd figured it out, he decided this arrangement wasn't bad after all.

At the parking lot, Li Luo opened the front passenger door for Yan Zhusheng, then returned to his driver's seat.

Jiang Feiya and Song Yu got into the back seat, and Li Luo drove them all the way back to Qingxi Dormitory.

On the way, Jiang Feiya had considered asking Li Luo about Xu Youyu's online novel.

But after thinking it over, she decided to hold off—for now, she'd read Xu Youyu's book first.

At the dormitory entrance, Jiang Feiya got out, bid Li Luo farewell, and hurried toward her dorm building.

Song Yu quickly followed, still clinging to a small hope: "Xiao Ya, it's still early—how about we go for a walk in Ningshan Park?"

"Are you crazy?" Jiang Feiya rolled her eyes at him. "It's almost eleven—what's there to walk around for? I'm going back."

"Oh, okay…" Song Yu wasn't disappointed—he'd expected rejection. After walking her all the way to her dorm, he watched her figure vanish into the stairwell before reluctantly turning away.

…

"Go on up."

Back at Bihai Lanting, Li Luo was just about to get out of the car when Yan Zhusheng flung herself at him and hugged him.

Li Luo sighed and hugged her back. "Go take a shower. Don't catch a cold."

"Oh…" Yan Zhusheng remembered at his reminder—she still needed to shower, after all, Li Luo had been teasing her at the cinema.

Not changing out of those clothes and skipping a shower really could make her catch a cold.

They got out of the car, took the elevator, and finally reached Room 1502.

Li Luo told Yan Zhusheng to go shower first, then headed toward the bedroom.

But as soon as he stepped in, he saw Ying Chanxi already lying on his bed, scrolling on her phone.

Seeing him return, she sat up, like a wife waiting for her exhausted husband to come home after overtime: "You're back?"

"Mm." Li Luo walked to the bed, bent down, and pinched Ying Chanxi's cheek. "Aren't you sleeping yet?"

"Waiting for you," Ying Chanxi huffed, then pointed to the clothes on the chair beside her. "I put your pajamas here. Go shower first."

"Alright."

Li Luo showered much faster than Yan Zhusheng—less than ten minutes, done. He changed into clean pajamas, climbed into bed, and pulled Ying Chanxi into his arms.

"Our class schedule is out," Ying Chanxi murmured, leaning against Li Luo, not even asking if he'd enjoyed the movie. "This weekend is the online course registration period."

"But since we're freshmen, all our required courses are already assigned."

"For electives, in the first semester, they're optional."

"And the popular electives? They've already been snatched up by upperclassmen these past two days."

"Really?" Li Luo, still holding Ying Chanxi, pulled out his phone and checked. "Oh, our schedule's out too."

In the Humanities Class One group chat, counselor Jian Chun had posted a notice that afternoon, informing everyone to log into the school's academic portal to check their schedules.

As for electives, Jian Chun hadn't insisted—she'd only said if anyone was interested, they could consider picking one or two.

Not taking any was fine too; there'd be plenty of time to choose in later semesters.

"When I got back tonight, I checked the general electives in the system," Ying Chanxi whispered. "Most of the interesting ones are already full, but there's one I'm quite curious about."

"What's that?"

"There's a course called 'Astronomical Observation and Cosmic Exploration'—open to all colleges," Ying Chanxi asked hopefully, "What do you think?"

"Sure," Li Luo didn't mind—he knew Ying Chanxi clearly wanted them both to take it together.

That way, even if they weren't in the same college, they'd still have one elective class to attend together.

He logged into the registration system, cross-checked the schedule with Ying Chanxi, and confirmed the elective's time slots fit perfectly into both their free periods.

After verifying everything, Li Luo and Ying Chanxi confirmed their enrollment.

Seeing the confirmation notice on Li Luo's screen, Ying Chanxi's face lit up with a satisfied smile.

"Oh, by the way," Li Luo remembered his plans for tomorrow and said to Ying Chanxi, "Is your roommate free tomorrow night?"

"Huh? Why?"

"Didn't I promise you? After military training, I'd treat your roommates to dinner—I never got around to it," Li Luo said.

He'd already treated Xu Youyu's and Yan Zhusheng's roommates—if he didn't treat Ying Chanxi's, it'd be unfair.

Now that he had time, he naturally wanted to make it up to her.

Hearing this, Ying Chanxi immediately opened her dorm group chat and asked her roommates: "I'll check."

"Besides, we're going to the movies tomorrow," Li Luo added. "After dinner with your roommates, we can just head straight to the cinema."

"Mm-hmm." Ying Chanxi nodded eagerly, thinking the suggestion was quite good.

But not long after, she said with a hint of resignation: "Tomorrow probably won't work—Jiang Lai has plans with her boyfriend."

"Why not just ask her to bring her boyfriend along? It won't be a problem."

"She said it's not convenient," Ying Chanxi scratched her head, not understanding what was inconvenient about it.

But since Jiang Lai had said so, Ying Chanxi could only reluctantly give up.

"She said next weekend will work."

"Fine then," Li Luo didn't absolutely need to go tomorrow, so he nodded and said, "So shall it be just the two of us on a date tomorrow?"

"Mm-hmm~" Ying Chanxi smiled happily, already looking forward to it.
