Chapter 736: Li Luo

~11 min read 2,187 words

The online novel cleanup campaign came suddenly.

But it wasn't just online novels—virtually any industry related to the internet was affected by the cleanup campaign.

Online novels were relatively less impacted.

Yet when it lands on an individual's head, even a single snowflake can be enough to crush them.

That night, Li Luo tried only three or four red-marked plotlines; after exhausting himself, he carried Xu Youyu back to bed, covered her with blankets, and let her rest properly.

The remaining forty-odd ones would have to wait for another day.

Then he sat down at his desk, originally intending to keep typing, but found dozens of QQ groups buzzing with discussion, and many people had @ed him.

When he clicked in, he saw several authors had already been warned and notified by editors.

For those with less serious content, like Xu Youyu, they just had to mark the sections red and revise them to avoid being taken down.

If the content crossed the line more severely, the book would first be taken down and blocked until the author revised it and got approval to repost.

If the content constituted actual veiled references with particularly vile plots, the book would be permanently banned, with no chance for revision.

Some might even face a full internet ban, with even pirated copies blocked.

Li Luo watched as many authors wailed in the groups, including some high-performing big-name authors, and couldn't help sighing.

Partly out of regret, partly out of helplessness.

With the overall direction set, ordinary people could only learn to adapt.

But this wave alone was enough to knock many authors out of commission.

Especially those who specialized in certain niche genres, having poured all their talent into just that one area.

If they suddenly couldn't write related topics, their entire skill set would be cut in half; trying to switch to other genres would leave them utterly clueless.

Officialdom novels used to be like this; later, supernatural novels were the same.

With the passage of time, many genres have been banned.

The urban genre, which once had the highest probability of remaining the top online novel category, was now being overshadowed by fantasy-themed genres.

But Li Luo merely sighed, replied to a few authors' inquiries, then returned to typing.

"Why are you here so early today, senior?"

That night, Ying Chanxi returned to her room, pondered for a long time about Chongran Culture's development, and consulted Lawyer Tian on many legal matters.

Now that she'd finished, she couldn't wait to slip into Li Luo's room, hoping to bathe with him.

But as soon as she walked in, she saw Xu Youyu already lying on Li Luo's bed, looking as if she'd just finished bathing.

"Xixi, you're here?" Xu Youyu, having rested a bit, felt considerably better than before; she looked up at Ying Chanxi and grinned, "I took the day off to rest and paused updates for today."

"Why suddenly take the day off?" Ying Chanxi walked to the bedside and sat beside Xu Youyu. "Are you sick? You look a bit weak."

"Cough…" At Ying Chanxi's words, Xu Youyu suddenly felt embarrassed. "No, it's not that—something else."

Weakness… well, that was all because Li Luo was too cruel.

She'd just overestimated herself.

Especially when Li Luo asked her which parts were red-marked, Xu Youyu pulled out her phone and showed him the red-flagged document.

But this guy actually remembered every single detail of the original text.

She herself couldn't recall clearly, yet he recited it perfectly.

As a result, when replicating the red-marked poses, Li Luo was utterly diligent.

But when Xu Youyu wrote, she'd never once considered pitying her future self.

She picked poses one after another that were unbearable, leaving Xu Youyu utterly exhausted.

"The online novel cleanup—her previous book got forty-plus chapters flagged for revision," Li Luo paused his actions and smiled at Ying Chanxi. "So today she just didn't feel like writing."

"There's really something like that?" Ying Chanxi was surprised, then worried. "Are you okay? I remember you also write that kind of stuff in your books."

"What are you talking about?" Li Luo waved his hands. "I'm a model citizen—how could I write that kind of thing?"

"Bullshit," Xu Youyu grumbled. "You think we haven't seen it? It's just that your performance is good, so the platform will protect you."

That was true.

But Li Luo himself consciously avoided such content.

Sure, he sometimes slipped in a bit of spice, but once those parts were deleted, the main plot remained unaffected—it was purely a flavoring.

The same went for Xu Youyu's Literary Era: it was only flagged, not taken down, because the content wasn't severe and wasn't treated as the main focus.

In short, if you delete all the borderline content from a book and the plot still flows normally, remains coherent, and retains decent quality, there's no real problem.

But if deleting that content leaves almost no plot left, or causes major gaps in the storyline, that's a serious violation.

Ying Chanxi didn't fully understand these details, but since she knew Li Luo wasn't affected, she stopped worrying.

Then she added, "Zhusheng said she's going to Huanhuan's house tomorrow—you all know, right?"

"Yeah," Li Luo nodded. "Good chance to get together during the break."

"What time are we going?" Xu Youyu yawned under the covers.

"Go in the morning?" Ying Chanxi considered. "First to our villa—some large furniture is being delivered and installed, we can check it out, then head to Huanhuan's."

"Then why don't you two go ahead?" Xu Youyu knew her limits—she couldn't get up, especially after what Li Luo had done to her tonight. "I'll drive over once I wake up."

"Fine," Li Luo didn't insist, letting her sleep more. "Just text us when you wake up—see if you want to join us for lunch."

"Got it."

The three chatted a while; seeing Xu Youyu wouldn't return to her own room, Ying Chanxi gave up on bathing with Li Luo, dejectedly picked up her pajamas, and walked into the bathroom.

But as soon as she rinsed off and reached for the shower gel, the bathroom door opened.

Li Luo walked in, stripped off his clothes, stepped into the shower stall, and came up behind Ying Chanxi with a grin.

"Y-You came in here?" Ying Chanxi whispered, flustered. "What if Senior Xu sees?"

"No problem," Li Luo wrapped his arms around her from behind, squeezed some shower gel into his palm, rubbed it together, then gently stroked her back. "Senior Xu is asleep—we just need to be quiet."

【61】 "Senior Xu is asleep?" Ying Chanxi felt a small thrill, yet blushed deeply, a faint excitement stirring within her.

"Asleep? Otherwise how would I have come in?"

The two of them took a shower together in the bathroom.

More than half an hour later, Ying Chanxi was dried off by Li Luo, dressed in pajamas, and prepared to step out of the bathroom.

Outside, Xu Youyu lay in bed scrolling through his phone; hearing the water stop in the bathroom, he quickly shoved the phone onto the nightstand, closed his eyes, and pretended to be asleep.

Ying Chanxi cautiously poked her head out, saw that Xu Youyu was truly asleep, and finally sighed in relief—yet still felt guilty, slipping quietly out of the bathroom.

Only after returning to sit beside the bed and waiting for Li Luo to emerge from the bathroom did Ying Chanxi fully relax, pull back the covers, and lie down.

"Mmm..." Xu Youyu woke up just then, rubbed his eyes, and looked at Ying Chanxi. "Chanxi, you're done showering?"

"Mm-hmm." Ying Chanxi's cheeks flushed slightly; she dared not meet Xu Youyu's gaze, afraid her guilty eyes would betray what she'd just done.

Seeing she wouldn't look at him, Xu Youyu secretly chuckled twice, then turned to look at Li Luo by the desk and winked at him—as if asking, "Satisfied?"

Li Luo coughed once; thinking of the two girls on the bed, who had each bathed with him tonight, his heart grew restless.

Sitting at the desk, he couldn't type a single word, so he got up and walked out of the room, claiming he was going to grab a little pudding.

Really, he just wanted to step onto the balcony, breathe fresh air, stretch his limbs, and calm his mind; once he felt better, he prepared to return to the room and resume typing.

Just then, Yan Zhusheng, who had been practicing piano in the music room, stepped out. Seeing Li Luo about to return to his room, still wearing the pajamas he only put on after showering, she walked up and blocked his path.

"You've showered?" Yan Zhusheng leaned close, sniffed his chest, and caught the familiar scent of body wash.

"Mm." Li Luo nodded. "What? You've finished piano practice too, so you need to shower as well?"

Yan Zhusheng nodded, tilted her head, and asked again: "Who did you shower with?"

"... Can't I have showered alone?"

"Your senior? Or Chanxi?" Yan Zhusheng asked with certainty. "Your senior isn't in her room—so it must be her."

"Why not Chanxi?"

"If someone else were there, my sister wouldn't dare shower with you," Yan Zhusheng said.

"Is that so?" Li Luo blinked, wanting to tease Yan Zhusheng, and deliberately said, "But today, both of them showered with me."

"The three of you together?" Yan Zhusheng narrowed her eyes, slightly displeased.

She'd already been unhappy upon learning that Ying Chanxi and Xu Youyu both had the same elective as Li Luo; now finding out they'd all showered together without inviting her, how could she be happy?

Fortunately, Li Luo added: "We showered separately. How could we shower together?"

"True." Yan Zhusheng's expression softened slightly as she nodded slowly. "Chanxi wouldn't dare."

"Why are you even worrying about this?" Li Luo laughed, pinching Yan Zhusheng's cheek; he found her serious expression when she fretted over such things oddly cute.

Yan Zhusheng let him pinch her, slightly lifted her face, then leaned into Li Luo's arms, murmuring softly: "You showered with both my senior and Chanxi—what about me?"

"What do you want to do?"

"I want too."

"Then..." Li Luo glanced toward the bathroom down the hall. "If we hurry, we can still manage it."

"Not here." Yan Zhusheng shook her head, turned to her bedroom to fetch pajamas, then pulled Li Luo straight into the master bedroom.

Then.

Yan Zhusheng led Li Luo directly into the master bedroom bathroom, right before Ying Chanxi and Xu Youyu's eyes, and shut the door.

"Wait—!" Ying Chanxi, seeing this, couldn't lie still any longer; she shot upright in bed and cried out urgently, "Hey! You two—"

But before she finished speaking, the bathroom door cracked open again.

Yan Zhusheng poked her head out and said to Ying Chanxi on the bed: "Sister, you just showered with Li Luo—now it's my turn. Isn't that fair?"

Saying this, she pulled her head back and shut the door again.

Soon, the steady patter of shower water echoed from inside.

Ying Chanxi's face burned crimson; she clenched her fists tightly, silent, utterly taken aback.

Especially when Xu Youyu beside her gave her a look of surprise—it made Ying Chanxi feel utterly humiliated.

"Um... Senior..."

"When did you shower with Li Luo?" Xu Youyu asked, curious. "Was it while I was asleep just now?"

"No... Senior, don't listen to Zhusheng's nonsense," Ying Chanxi stammered, blushing furiously and waving her hands, but couldn't explain clearly.

"Then I'll go ask them," Xu Youyu said, pretending to pull back the covers and get up—prompting Ying Chanxi to grab her arm in panic.

"No no!" Ying Chanxi, desperate, confessed: "I—I really did shower with Li Luo just now! But he came in himself! He said you were asleep and wouldn't notice, and then..."

"Oh~ So that's how it was," Xu Youyu chuckled. "Then why are you flustered when Zhusheng pulls him off to shower? You already showered with him too."

"Th-this..." Ying Chanxi choked on her breath, finally grasping a seemingly reasonable excuse: "But he already showered—why shower again? It's completely unnecessary!"

"But..." Xu Youyu, finding her expression utterly adorable, couldn't resist; she leaned close to Ying Chanxi's ear and whispered playfully, "Before you went in to shower, I already showered with Li Luo."

"According to your logic."

"Then your shower with Li Luo just now was also completely unnecessary, right?"

"What?!" Ying Chanxi's eyes widened in shock; then her face darkened with dismay, and she stammered helplessly.

She'd thought she'd just secretly done something naughty with Li Luo, sneaking around behind her senior's back.

But now she learned Xu Youyu had already done everything.

She was just playing with what Xu Youyu had left.

Yet Ying Chanxi had already heard from Yan Zhusheng that Xu Youyu had showered with Li Luo.

Now hearing it confirmed by Xu Youyu herself, she wasn't overly shocked—just slightly surprised, then accepted it instantly.

While Ying Chanxi was pinned helplessly on the bed by Yan Zhusheng and Xu Youyu, the water sounds from the bathroom grew louder and more intense.
