Chapter 840: Ying Chanxi Frustrated by Her Cat

~6 min read 1,118 words

After finishing his morning routine in the master bathroom, Li Luo took the three girls downstairs for lunch.

Considering Li Luo's earlier instructions, the chef prepared several dishes with mild, soothing flavors to aid their digestive recovery after drinking.

After lunch, the time reached half past twelve.

Xu Youyu leaned back comfortably in his chair, rubbing his belly and yawning sleepily: "After eating, I'm sleepy again. I really don't want to go to class."

"Then take a day off," Li Luo said.

"No, no," Xu Youyu shook his head vigorously. "If my dad finds out, he'll summon me for a scolding. I'd rather sleep through class."

Li Luo: "..."

"Oh, by the way." Xu Youyu suddenly remembered something and asked Butler Liu, who stood nearby, "Butler Liu, have you fed the cats on the second floor?"

"The cat room is equipped with an automatic feeder that dispenses food at fixed times every day at noon and evening," Butler Liu bowed slightly. "I also observe them daily and check the surveillance footage; if any cat hasn't been fed enough, I replenish it promptly."

"Thanks so much," Xu Youyu said, then turned to the other three. "Shall we go upstairs and check on the kittens?"

"Sure," Ying Chanxi nodded. "I'll go up and take a look before I leave."

Li Luo and Yan Zhusheng had no objections. After finishing lunch, the four of them rose from the table, took the elevator to the second floor.

But as Xu Youyu eagerly pushed open the cat room door, he saw no sign of the four cats inside.

"Huh? Where did they go?!"

"Oh right, they might still be in the study," Li Luo called from behind. "This morning, while I was writing, I opened the cat passage."

"Oh, that's why," Xu Youyu said, walking over to the small glass door and peering into the study.

Sure enough, several tiny figures darted back and forth across the study, having a blast.

Xu Youyu then closed the glass door and joined Li Luo and the other two in the study.

"A Li~ I'm here~" Xu Youyu grinned as she entered, snatched up A Li, who was rolling on the floor, and cuddled it against her cheek. "Missed me?"

"Mew~" A Li struggled in her chest, pawing wildly at the soft mat, but couldn't escape.

Meanwhile, Yan Zhusheng had reached Cotton Candy's side. She didn't pick it up, only crouched down and stroked its head.

Cotton Candy, meanwhile, was intently grooming Bai Ji, who occasionally returned the favor; the two cats pressed together, looking utterly affectionate.

Only Ying Chanxi stood in the center of the study, looking around frantically, searching for her Orange Treasure for a long time before finally spotting it.

"Why are you here..." Ying Chanxi sighed, crouching beside the corner of the study sofa, poking Orange Treasure's head, then glancing at Bai Ji and Cotton Candy glued together—she felt a pang of frustration.

"Can't you be a little more ambitious? Stop being so lazy. Go play with your siblings."

Orange Treasure was only three or four months old, yet already fully possessed the lazy orange cat's innate talent. Unmoved by Ying Chanxi's poke, it yawned slowly, rolled over, and resumed dozing with half-closed eyes.

Seeing it not moving, Ying Chanxi sighed. This cat's personality was nothing like its owner's.

Did she herself ever work hard?

Yet her cat was this lazy—hopeless.

"I've got to go," Ying Chanxi said, stroking the cat for a moment longer, checking the time, then standing. "I need to find my advisor to submit a leave request. My company people are waiting. I won't wait for you."

"Mm, be careful on the way," Li Luo nodded, watching Ying Chanxi leave the study.

He and Yan Zhusheng weren't in a hurry—Xie Shuchen from the band also had a class this afternoon and wouldn't meet them until around three.

But Xu Youyu couldn't wait that long—she had class at one-thirty. After playing with the cats for half an hour, she had to leave for school.

"I'm off too," Xu Youyu waved at the two, then went downstairs, got in her car, and drove off to school.

After confirming both older sisters had left, Yan Zhusheng immediately stopped petting the cats, reached out, and poked Li Luo's lower back.

"What's wrong?" Li Luo turned to her, puzzled.

But the moment he turned back, he fell silent.

"... Why are you taking off your clothes?"

"I want to." Yan Zhusheng looked at Li Luo with serious eyes.

"You just did last night..."

"I just want to," Yan Zhusheng leaned close to Li Luo. "Please?"

As Yan Zhusheng pressed herself fully against him, feeling the brush of her long legs against his body, Li Luo took a deep breath.

The next second, Yan Zhusheng felt herself lifted—Li Luo swept her up in his arms, carried her straight to the third floor via elevator, and tossed her hard onto the bed.

Three p. m.

Niu Qingling and Shao Youpeng had arrived early at the club room, setting up their instruments.

Soon after, Xie Shuchen rushed in, pushed open the door, and greeted the two seniors.

A few minutes later, Li Luo and Yan Zhusheng finally arrived.

When Yan Zhusheng picked up her guitar and stepped in front of Niu Qingling, Niu Qingling initially paid no attention—then suddenly noticed something odd.

"Zhusheng, are you feeling unwell?"

"Huh?" Yan Zhusheng blinked, turned to Niu Qingling, then shook her head. "No."

"Then why does your walk seem shaky?" Niu Qingling asked, puzzled.

"Um... I worked out at home earlier. Overdid it a bit," Yan Zhusheng replied seriously.

"I see," Niu Qingling accepted it without doubt, nodding.

Li Luo coughed discreetly, steering the topic back: "Let's get started. New Year's Eve concert is just days away."

The Shengsheng Buxi Band's rehearsal began. Fortunately, Li Luo was the lead vocalist—if not, Yan Zhusheng would've been too weak to sing; playing guitar alone, however, posed no physical issue.

The band rehearsed until just after five p. m.

After parting ways with Niu Qingling and the others at the club entrance, Li Luo and Yan Zhusheng met up with Xu Youyu, drove together to the adjacent Times Tianjie, and went to dinner with Ying Chanxi.

"Zhusheng."

At dinner, Xu Youyu asked Yan Zhusheng, "When is your mom free to look at the house? I want to see it as soon as possible—can you arrange a time with your mom?"

"Sure." Yan Zhusheng nodded, then swiftly pulled out his phone and tapped out a message to Yuan Wanqing.

Soon after, Yan Zhusheng said, "She's free tomorrow."

"Really?" Xu Youyu raised an eyebrow, then immediately smiled and nodded. "Perfect—I'll tell my parents. We'll go together then."
