Chapter 95: Three People on the Move

~7 min read 1,338 words

After Ying Chanxi pretended to go home and fetch something, the two of them left the building together, hailed a taxi, and returned to Bihai Lanting.

In the taxi, Li Luo asked curiously, "What did you take?"

"Nothing much," Ying Chanxi turned her head away.

In reality, she hadn't taken anything at all… just putting on a show.

Originally, she planned to go home first, then visit Li Luo's place, pretending she'd just come back to pick something up, and ask if he'd be returning to Bihai Lanting that night.

But unexpectedly, she was caught right after coming back.

Li Luo didn't think much of it; seeing Ying Chanxi refused to answer, he dropped the matter.

The taxi drove through the night.

Just before reaching their destination, Li Luo felt his phone vibrate a few times.

He pulled it out and saw someone had messaged him on QQ.

He opened QQ and looked puzzled, unsure who it was.

He'd originally thought it might be his editor, another author, or a classmate.

But upon closer inspection, he realized it was his nephew Li Xiang—who had just left.

That was truly unusual.

Although the two families were close, Li Luo and Li Xiang weren't particularly close.

Especially since Li Xiang entered middle school and started boarding, they'd barely seen each other outside of holidays.

This was the first time Li Xiang had ever privately messaged Li Luo on QQ.

It piqued Li Luo's curiosity, so he opened the chat window to see what he'd written.

But the next second, Li Luo's face darkened.

【Li Xiang】: (screenshot) (screenshot) (screenshot)

【Li Xiang】: I'm your full-subscription reader on Qidian, 正版. I've been following your novel closely lately.

【Li Xiang】: I think it's great—don't listen to my grandpa's nonsense. They're old-fashioned; not understanding Online Novel is normal.

【Li Xiang】: You absolutely must keep going! I usually like reading entertainment novels, and among the recent ones, yours is the best.

Li Luo: "..."

You kid… you just don't want your favorite novel to get mysteriously abandoned, right?

You really went out of your way.

You didn't say a word at dinner, but now you're talking a lot in private.

At least say something in support of me during dinner!

But then again, if Li Luo had known his cheap nephew was reading his novel at dinner, he'd probably have wanted to smash his head into a tofu block and pretend to die.

Sigh… these days, writing a novel is hard enough; writing one your family can read? Even harder.

At this point, Li Luo had given up struggling.

【Li Luo】: I won't abandon it—I just talked to my parents, I'll keep writing.

【Li Xiang】: Good! Write well—I'll promote it for you at school.

Li Luo: "??? "

【Li Luo】: There's no need for that! Just read it yourself.

【Li Xiang】: No problem, it's just a small favor—don't be so formal with me.

Is that what he meant by "favor"?

Why is this nephew so disobedient?

【Li Xiang】: By the way, can you write more about Jiang Mingyue?

【Li Xiang】: You built up a long setup saying the protagonist might make a movie, and even made a date with Jiang Mingyue to help her transition from TV to film.

【Li Xiang】: But now there's still no sign of it—how long has it been since Jiang Mingyue appeared after the previous TV drama's plot?

【Li Xiang】: You only pulled her out for the harem scene—give us more everyday moments between the protagonist and her!

Li Luo: "..."

This is insane.

Being pushed by Yan Zhusheng to write more Mo Qinghan was bad enough.

Now being pushed by my own nephew to write more Jiang Mingyue? What is this?

Why is everyone a single-character fan?

Can't you just like them all?

You have zero vision.

【Li Luo】: I think you're talking too much—novel writing has an outline, and I'll only follow it.

Li Luo gave a vague excuse.

But the next second, Li Xiang replied.

【Li Xiang】: Uncle! Please! Write more Jiang Mingyue!

Seeing this address, Li Luo fell silent.

He never expected that the term he hadn't heard Li Xiang say in years would come out so easily.

He has no backbone at all!

【Li Luo】: Alright, alright, I'll try my best.

After brushing off Li Xiang, Li Luo and Ying Chanxi arrived at the entrance of Bihai Lanting.

"I gave my parents a military order—I have to rank in the top hundred on the midterm," Li Luo said to Ying Chanxi as they walked, "Let's do evening self-study at home every night after returning—ask you when I have questions."

Hearing this, Ying Chanxi immediately smiled and nodded: "Sure, shall we start tonight?"

"Alright." Li Luo checked the time. "Then we study until nine tonight."

"No problem."

The two returned to 1502 and pulled out their keys to open the door.

But when they opened it, they found the room was lit up.

"Huh?" Xu Youyu, lying on the sofa, sucked on a small pudding, lifted her upper body in surprise, and leaned toward the door. "You're back? I thought you two went home to sleep."

"Why are you back?" Li Luo looked puzzled. "Didn't you go home?"

"Got kicked out, that's why." Xu Youyu lifted her leg and wiggled it twice, then plopped it back onto the sofa with a slap. She chuckled. "Day one, I was treated like a treasure. Day two, they started asking why I kept sleeping in. Day three, they demanded I wake up early. Is this even a holiday?"

"This place is so much more comfortable." Xu Youyu happily jumped off the sofa, walked into the kitchen, and pulled two small puddings from the fridge. "Here, I just bought these today. Want one?"

Li Luo took one.

Ying Chanxi shook her head: "I can't eat any these past few days."

"Oh oh." Xu Youyu put the other one back in the fridge.

At that moment, Ying Chanxi had already returned to her bedroom and taken out her backpack.

But her gaze carried just a hint of disappointment.

Yet she quickly shook it off, hugged her backpack, and walked out of the bedroom toward Xu Youyu on the sofa. "Senior, Li Luo and I plan to review our lessons. Want to join us?"

"No way… you're this serious?" Xu Youyu finished her pudding, tossed the glossy, glistening stick into the trash, and said, "Fine, I'll keep you company for a bit."

Then she went to her bedroom and brought out several books and exercise workbooks.

Soon, the three sat in a row at the long study desk in the living room.

Since the main focus was tutoring Li Luo, he sat in the middle, with Ying Chanxi and Xu Youyu on either side.

"The top students from Grade One and Grade Two are tutoring you together," Xu Youyu said after sitting down, unable to hide her amazement. "If you still can't make it into the top hundred, you're truly beyond saving."

If it were anyone else, Li Luo might have already prepared to show off and humiliate them later.

But facing Ying Chanxi and Xu Youyu—the peak of academic gods—he dared not be careless.

He simply studied obediently; after all, he had no intention of competing for the top rank.

Just getting into the top hundred and passing the college entrance exam to enter Qianjiang University—that was enough. No need to think about anything else.

Exams were merely a means; achieving the underlying goal was what truly mattered.

"I'll find you a set of practice papers tomorrow," Ying Chanxi thought for a moment, then said. "I'll create a midterm exam based on the high school material you've already covered, to see how well you've grasped it."

Li Luo nodded without objection, then boldly said, "Then you two should do it with me too. I want to see if I can outscore you."

"That's a nice thought," Xu Youyu smiled sweetly. "But reality will be cruel."

Ying Chanxi said nothing more, only smiled: "Hehe."
