Chapter 115: Getting What One Wishes (Tenth Update, Seeking First Subscriptions)

"You are right, though I don't have any precious resources I don't need for the time being. I do have quite a few Soul Crystals, though. What about you?"

Without any hesitation, Luo Jie agreed with Li Zhangsheng's point of view.

He was one of the heirs to the Luo Family, and since the Luo Family primarily engaged in business, the Luo Clan Trading Firm controlled by the family was one of the largest in the Langya Kingdom; the one thing they were never short of was Soul Crystals.

"Since that's the case, I'll throw out a brick to attract jade!" After saying this, Li Zhangsheng opened his Monster Pet Bag and released the Superior Quality Skylark.

In just a few short days, by virtue of its excellent quality, the Superior Quality Skylark had easily advanced; it could almost be said that it had completed its advancement while lying down.

After becoming a Mid-Rank Beast, the Skylark's size had increased; its body length now exceeded one meter, its wingspan was three meters, and its tail feathers had changed the most, shifting from a deep cyan to a deep blue—this was also the hallmark of a Mid-Rank Skylark.

"A Skylark?" Upon discovering it was a Skylark, Luo Jie couldn't help but look at Li Zhangsheng with suspicion. Skylarks could be said to be seen everywhere, but since Li Zhangsheng had released it, this Skylark must have something unusual about it; it certainly couldn't be as simple as just a Mid-Rank Beast.

"Brother Luo, this is a Superior Quality Skylark. I originally planned to contract it after it advanced, but as you can see, Zhao Shuyi is ambitious and wolf-hearted. I must become a Second-Rank Beast Master as soon as possible to preserve my dignity, but that requires a massive amount of cultivation resources, so I have no choice but to part with it painfully!"

Li Zhangsheng told a string of lies, feigning a look of heartache on the surface, while in reality, he had his own calculations, aiming to kill two birds with one stone. Firstly, it was naturally to obtain the Red Sparrow, and secondly, it was mainly to exchange for resources to trade for the Intermediate Demon Taming Art.

Without a doubt, Luo Jie, who was not short of Soul Crystals, was undoubtedly a high-quality trading partner, especially since he also possessed the Red Sparrow that Li Zhangsheng had been thinking about incessantly.

"A Superior Quality Skylark!" Hearing that it was a Superior Quality Skylark, Luo Jie's breath hitched, and he was immediately tempted. Although a Second-Rank Beast Master possessed five contract slots, for the sake of his future, Luo Jie had only contracted a Three-Tailed Snake Monster and a Snow Wolf, leaving three Blood Contract slots empty.

Luo Jie had very high standards; unless it was a Superior Fairy or a Mid-grade Spirit Beast with a very high lineage, he would not use up his contract slots.

The Skylark's lineage was a bit low, but its quality was there. Moreover, lineage was not immutable; there were always special treasures that could improve a demon pet's lineage, and he just happened to have a special treasure suitable for a Skylark in his possession.

"Brother Luo, I will first guide your Mental Power so you can check the Skylark's data!"

Luo Jie nodded and began to release a wisp of Mental Power, which was then enveloped by Li Zhangsheng's Mental Power and finally concentrated on the Contract Mark on the Skylark's head.

After verifying the goods, Luo Jie revealed a satisfied smile and hurriedly asked with impatience: "Brother Li, how much for this Skylark?"

"This... Brother Luo, just give what you think is fair!" Li Zhangsheng was not clear about the price of a Superior Fairy; mainly because Superior Fairies were too rare and could not be found on the market at all. Even in some large auction houses, the figure of a Superior Fairy only appeared occasionally.

Of course, if Luo Jie offered a very low price, he could also terminate the transaction.

However, his main goal this time was to obtain Luo Jie's Red Sparrow, so as long as Luo Jie didn't suppress the price too low, he would choose to trade.

"Brother Li, you are making things very difficult for me!" Luo Jie rubbed his head. He did know the approximate price of a Superior Fairy—or to be more precise, the auction price—because the Luo Clan Trading Firm had a large auction house.

"Brother Li, let me first state the market price for a Superior Fairy. Even the worst Superior Fairy is worth at least five hundred Low-grade Soul Crystals. Your Skylark can be ridden, and it is also a Wind Element beast that excels in speed, which indirectly increases its value. Let's add ten percent; how does 550 Low-grade Soul Crystals sound?"

Luo Jie stared intently at Li Zhangsheng, fearing that the other party would not agree. He had plenty of Soul Crystals, but there was always a limit, so naturally, he couldn't acquire the Superior Quality Skylark at a price far exceeding the market value.

Li Zhangsheng did not agree immediately; he pretended to hesitate for a moment, then adopted a righteous stance and said: "I naturally trust Brother Luo's word, so let's close the deal at this price! However, I only want five hundred Low-grade Soul Crystals. As for the remaining fraction, I'll exchange it with you for a Medium Grade Fire-type Spirit Beast; that will make traveling much more convenient!"

At this moment, Li Zhangsheng revealed his true intentions, stating his ultimate goal.

To avoid Luo Jie noticing, Li Zhangsheng did not specify the Red Sparrow, but he did not believe there were any other Spirit Beasts that met his requirements.

"A Medium Grade Fire-type Spirit Beast... I only have the Red Sparrow that meets the requirements. However, as you can see, my Red Sparrow is sick and has lost a lot of weight these past few days. No, Brother Li, I cannot swindle you; you had better choose another Spirit Beast!"

Unexpectedly, Luo Jie chose to refuse; he did not want the Red Sparrow to affect the 'friendship' between him and Li Zhangsheng.

"Brother Luo is overthinking it. I am different from others; the Natural Spirit and Paradise Bird I possess both have the ability to heal illnesses. Even if the Red Sparrow is sick, it can be easily cured!"

Li Zhangsheng waved his hand quite casually, looking as if he were telling him to rest assured.

"Fine!"

After hesitating for a moment, Luo Jie chose to agree, released the Red Sparrow, and dissolved its Temporary Contract.

Due to the recent battle and the side effects of the Bloodline Metamorphosis, the Red Sparrow's injuries had naturally not recovered, and it remained in a listless state.

Soon, the two completed the transaction and smiled at each other; everything was understood without words.

Everyone was happy!

Only this idiom could describe the mood of the two at this moment.

However, Luo Jie probably would never have imagined that the Red Sparrow he considered a mere throw-in, once it completed its Bloodline Metamorphosis, would be worth at least no less than the Superior Quality Skylark. If it were lucky enough to complete a quality leap, its value would absolutely far exceed that of the Superior Quality Skylark.

Luo Jie, what a good man!

While Li Zhangsheng breathed a sigh of relief, he silently labeled Luo Jie as a 'wealth-scattering boy'!

Hmm, he should still be a virgin, right!

After bidding farewell to Luo Jie, Li Zhangsheng quickly returned to the Number One Courtyard and couldn't wait to release the Red Sparrow.

The Red Sparrow lay listlessly on the ground, silently watching its new master.

Due to the nature of the Temporary Contract, even after changing masters, the Red Sparrow did not feel sad; all it felt was numbness.

Suddenly, the Red Sparrow mustered its remaining strength and stood up. Its body trembled incessantly like a winnowing sieve, yet it firmly refused to collapse. Its fiery red eyes looked at Li Zhangsheng with longing, emitting a weak cry, as if a drowning person had grasped the final straw of life.

At this moment, the Red Sparrow's condition was exceptionally poor. If it could not absorb enough Fire Element energy, not only would the Bloodline Metamorphosis be forcibly interrupted, but its life would also be in danger.

For a time, the Red Sparrow's cries echoed in the room. Its voice grew increasingly faint, yet it kept its head held high, like a proud peacock, stubbornly refusing to fall.

"Red Sparrow, don't worry, I will definitely do my best to help you complete the Bloodline Metamorphosis! However, first, we must recover your injuries!"

Li Zhangsheng finally spoke, and regardless of whether the Red Sparrow understood, he placed a jar of Healing Spring in front of it.

The Red Sparrow sniffed it, then impatiently stretched its neck, thrust its head into the jar, and drank the Healing Spring in large gulps.

Under the efficacy of the Healing Spring, the Red Sparrow's injuries soon stabilized, and it was no longer in that listless state.

At this time, Li Zhangsheng took out a small bag and poured everything inside out.

In an instant, colorful Demon Cores scattered all over the floor.
