Chapter 118: Practical Combat Classes Can Also Be Opportunities for Picking Up Leaks (13th Update, Seeking First Subscription)

Li Zhangsheng stretched forcefully, looked at the results on his desk, and revealed a slightly weary smile.

In the entire Yuan Prefecture, there were more than ten places that met his goals.

After finishing everything, Li Zhangsheng checked the status of the Red Sparrow again; soon he revealed a smile. Although the Red Sparrow was still in a deep sleep, there were more than ten fewer Fire-type Demon Cores on the ground.

This was already the third time the Red Sparrow had devoured Demon Cores. Li Zhangsheng could almost be certain that the Red Sparrow must have activated a Divine Beast Bloodline; only a Divine Beast Bloodline would require so much energy.

The more noble and extraordinary the bloodline, the greater the feedback the Red Sparrow would receive during the process of Bloodline Metamorphosis, and the higher the possibility of improving its quality.

Li Zhangsheng left the courtyard with satisfaction. He did not head to the Teaching Building, but instead came to the Practical Training Ground not far from the Teaching Building.

Today's basic public course would no longer teach basic knowledge, but rather practical combat drills!

Practical combat drills aimed to strengthen the practical combat level of the freshmen; their opponents were various types of wild Spirit Beasts, and the freshmen's task was to defeat their opponents by any means necessary.

Unlike the Public Training Ground, the ground of the Practical Training Ground was not level; it was full of pits and bumps, filled with the traces of battle.

By the time Li Zhangsheng arrived, most of the students had already arrived. They were mostly whispering to each other, with topics revolving around yesterday's Dormitory Challenge.

In that battle, Li Zhangsheng defeated Luo Jie despite the rank difference, temporarily retaining the ownership of the Number One Courtyard. In particular, his Savage Sword-Toothed Tiger made everyone present at the time feel deeply wary, which greatly increased Li Zhangsheng's reputation and made him the focus of the freshmen.

"Brother Li, over here!" As soon as he arrived at the Practical Training Ground, Luo Jie, who was holding the Thousand Mechanism Fan not far away, waved to signal Li Zhangsheng.

"Brother Luo, you're here so early today!" Li Zhangsheng revealed a seemingly sincere smile. He and Luo Jie could be considered to have turned hostility into friendship, not to mention that the other party had truly 'gifted' him a great present, so how could he not greet him with a smile?

A true God of Wealth—Luo Jie!

The two gathered together, the atmosphere harmonious; they were just short of putting their arms around each other's shoulders!

Damn!

Seeing the two chatting in a friendly manner, the noise at the scene suddenly fell silent. The freshmen present all looked at them with bewildered expressions, feeling for a moment that their brains couldn't keep up.

What was going on with these two?

Weren't they enemies?

Shouldn't they be hostile toward each other?

How could they become friends?

Including Zhao Shuyi and others, their hearts were filled with the desire to complain, and they really wanted to question the two parties involved face-to-face.

Soon, Li Zhangsheng pulled Zhang Yi over. Luo Jie and Zhang Yi had long admired each other, and under Li Zhangsheng's introduction, the two began to chat.

Luo Jie and Zhang Yi were both children of County-level Clans and were also the outstanding figures of the new generation in their respective clans. In terms of status, they could be said to be evenly matched, and they had a certain understanding of each other. Coupled with Li Zhangsheng setting the atmosphere on the side, the two quickly became familiar with each other.

However, there were many people and eyes here, which was not suitable for discussing the matter of a temporary alliance.

Ding-a-ling~

Soon, the class bell rang. The one who came this time was not Instructor He Yan, but Instructor Zhu Zhibin, who was also a Fifth-rank; he was also Zhang Yi's instructor.

Instructor Zhu Zhibin looked to be about forty years old, stood a full two meters tall, and had a leopard-like head with round eyes, a swallow-like chin with tiger whiskers, and a tiger's back and a bear's waist, giving people a feeling of being mighty and heroic.

First it was He Yan, and now it was Zhu Zhibin; the first two public classes were both taught by Fifth-rank Instructors, which was enough to show the Academy's emphasis on Class One of the first year.

Clap clap clap~

Instructor Zhu Zhibin clapped his hands, and after attracting everyone's attention, he shouted loudly: "I am Fifth-rank Instructor Zhu Zhibin. This practical combat class will be guided by me!"

"Practical combat classes are mainly for testing your practical combat ability. Alright, everyone, please follow me now!"

After speaking, Instructor Zhu Zhibin led the freshmen to the hinterland of the training ground.

Not far away, there were two rows of metal cages, nearly a hundred in total. In each cage, a wild Spirit Beast was imprisoned.

These wild Spirit Beasts were basically beast-type Spirit Beasts. Their wild nature had not yet been extinguished. Upon seeing people approaching, they began to bump into the cages restlessly, staring at the newcomers with fierce eyes and emitting roars that were either low or high-pitched.

Of these two rows of metal cages, the number in the first row was clearly greater, but the momentum was clearly not as good as the second row.

Among them, the most eye-catching in the second row of cages was a Spirit Beast shaped like a rhinoceros. The rhinoceros was a full five meters long and likely weighed nearly ten tons; it was fat, clumsy, and thick-skinned. Unlike an ordinary rhinoceros, this rhinoceros seemed as if it had been cast in gold, full of dazzling power.

This was a Golden Rhinoceros. At this moment, it was crazily ramming into the metal cage. Every time it rammed, it would emit a loud rumbling sound, and the nearby ground had a tendency to vibrate slightly.

The metal cage did not know what kind of metal it was forged from; it was unimaginably sturdy. No matter how much force the Golden Rhinoceros exerted, it remained motionless, without even a sign of bending.

Without a doubt, these were all active-attack type Spirit Beasts!

These beast-type Spirit Beasts often attacked human villages near the mountains, so every once in a while, the Yuanling Academy would issue a series of tasks to capture these beast-type Spirit Beasts that endangered the villages, specifically keeping them in the Practical Training Ground to be used by students for practical combat.

At this time, Instructor Zhu Zhibin pointed to the wild Spirit Beasts in the cages and said: "They are your opponents. The first row are all Lower Rank Spirit Beasts, while the second row are Middle-Rank Spirit Beasts. Given that the Spirit Beasts in the second row are clearly stronger, defeating them can earn you ten Academic Credits."

"You can freely choose your challenge target, but in the process of the battle, you can and can only use one Demon Pet. You don't need to hold back; even if the battle target dies, there will be no punishment!"

"Of course, you can also contract them."

"In addition, there is a penalty for failure; the losing party must take care of the challenge target for one month! Alright, you may choose!"

As Instructor Zhu Zhibin's voice fell, the freshmen began to choose their challenge targets.

Due to the penalty for failure and the rewards not being rich, most freshmen chose the Lower Rank Spirit Beasts in the first row, with only a few people casting their gazes on the Spirit Beasts in the second row.

At the first moment, Luo Jie couldn't wait to point at the Golden Rhinoceros and said: "Brother Li, I want to challenge the Golden Rhinoceros!"

"Then I wish Brother Luo a successful start!"

Li Zhangsheng gave a perfunctory response and began to release his Mental Power. Among the nearly one hundred wild Spirit Beasts, there might be unexpected gains.

In an instant, a large number of light spots appeared in Li Zhangsheng's mind.

The vast majority of the light spots were very dim, their brightness almost imperceptible, indicating Low Grade quality Spirit Beasts. Only one light spot was clearly superior to the others, emitting a bright radiance.
