Chapter 28: Xi Mouse Bloodline

In the darkness, a sound slowly approached, but strangely, there was no figure present in the surroundings.

Suddenly, the ground near the tree hollow split open, and a black shadow crawled out from underground. Its goal was very clear; it did not attack Li Changsheng and Aixi, who appeared to be fast asleep, but instead grabbed at the parcel placed to the side.

Just at this moment, Li Changsheng suddenly opened his eyes. Having maintained his vigilance throughout, he immediately prepared himself upon hearing the unusual noise.

Thus, as the black shadow reached for the parcel, Li Changsheng rapidly condensed his Mental Power, and an invisible Mental Barrier appeared, blocking the black shadow's path.

The black shadow's movement stopped instantly; it was not that it did not want to continue, but that an invisible barrier in front prevented its action.

This gave it a start, and without any hesitation, it subconsciously wanted to flee.

At the same time, Aixi finally reacted and immediately took action. After crawling out of the tree hollow, she lunged straight toward the black shadow.

For tiger-type Spirit Beasts, they often possess a certain degree of night vision, and their hearing and sense of smell are extremely keen.

Therefore, even in the darkness, Aixi was still able to lock onto the black shadow's position.

By the time Li Changsheng crawled out of the tree hollow, Aixi had already engaged the black shadow in close combat, not giving it a chance to escape.

Li Changsheng did not have night vision, but his projected Mental Power was not restricted, and he gathered the opponent's appearance and characteristics.

This was a large rodent-type Spirit Beast, about half a meter long, with a tawny body, bulging cheeks, emerald-green eyes, and two huge incisors on both the top and bottom. It looked quite similar to a hamster, only much larger, giving one a feeling of being simple-minded and clumsy.

【Spirit Beast Name】: Burrowing Mouse (Mature Stage)

【Spirit Beast Realm】: Lower 9th Rank

【Spirit Beast Race】: Medium Servant

【Spirit Beast Quality】: Mid-grade

【Spirit Beast Bloodline】: Xi Mouse Bloodline (Inferior Quality)

【Spirit Beast Attribute】: Earth Element

【Spirit Beast Status】: Healthy

【Spirit Beast Weakness】: Wood

The Burrowing Mouse is not known for its attacks, mainly focusing on support. Because its meat is extremely delicious, it has become a target for human hunting, which has also led to its scarcity; it is rarely encountered in the wild.

Xi Mouse: A giant mouse that dwells under ice year-round, weighing a thousand catties, with edible meat. Clothing and bedding made from its fur are superior for keeping out the cold; when its skin is used to cover a drum, the sound can travel a thousand miles, and its hair can summon other rodents.

In terms of bloodline, the Xi Mouse is far inferior to the White Tiger, but it ultimately belongs to an Exotic Beast bloodline and is born with magical abilities. Like this Burrowing Mouse, it has a chance to inherit some abilities related to the Xi Mouse.

After 'seeing' the opponent's data, Li Changsheng's heart stirred. This was his first time encountering a wild rare Spirit Beast, and he could not help but feel a bit excited.

Although this Burrowing Mouse with the Xi Mouse bloodline did not meet his contract requirements, its value exceeded that of an ordinary Mid-grade Spirit Beast.

In terms of realm, the Burrowing Mouse was above Aixi, but not only did it fail to gain the upper hand, it was clearly being suppressed instead.

After Li Changsheng came out, the Burrowing Mouse became visibly nervous. This type of Spirit Beast is notoriously timid, likes to be active at night, and fears contact with humans and Spirit Beasts.

Aixi seized the opportunity. The moment the Burrowing Mouse was stunned, her figure turned, and her tail, like a steel whip, lashed fiercely at the Burrowing Mouse, sending it flying a distance and smashing it hard against a large tree.

Boom—

The large tree shook violently, shedding countless green leaves.

Squeak, squeak—

Just as Aixi wanted to press her advantage, the Burrowing Mouse struggled to crawl up from the ground, revealing an angry look. Its cheeks bulged high, and it emitted an extremely sharp sound.

Under the piercing sound waves, Aixi could not help but show a pained expression. Not only was her action forcibly interrupted, but her mind also went blank, and she had to stop in her tracks.

Not far away, Li Changsheng did not fare much better, only feeling his ears buzzing. Fortunately, he was further away and quickly escaped the influence of the sound waves.

Before Aixi could recover, the Burrowing Mouse did not take the opportunity to flee. Its four limbs began to shimmer with tawny light, which poured endlessly into the earth.

In the blink of an eye, the ground where Aixi stood changed suddenly; the soil rapidly turned sandy and began to swirl quickly, causing Aixi's four limbs to sink instantly into the quicksand.

Under the restraint of the quicksand, Aixi was clearly affected. Although she struggled with all her might, she could not break free from the quicksand's restraint.

"Quicksand Hell!"

Li Changsheng narrowed his eyes, inevitably feeling a bit surprised. Quicksand Hell is a high-level skill of the Burrowing Mouse, and it is very difficult to comprehend.

After trapping Aixi, the Burrowing Mouse opened its mouth, and countless tawny light spots condensed rapidly, finally spraying an energy torrent composed of Earth Element energy from its mouth.

"This is Earth Wave!" Like Quicksand Hell, Earth Wave is also a high-level skill of the Burrowing Mouse and is also its strongest attack skill, possessing powerful destructive force.

"Not good, Aixi, use Rise Wind!"

At the critical moment, Aixi's body was covered by light cyan Wind Element energy, as if she had put on a wind cloak. Taking advantage of the weakening rotational force of the Quicksand Hell, Aixi finally broke free from the restraint and dodged rapidly to the side.

The moment she broke free, the Earth Wave almost grazed Aixi and landed in the quicksand.

Boom—

Accompanied by a roar, the quicksand area erupted violently, and countless sand particles shot everywhere, scattering around and leaving the surroundings in a mess.

"Now is the time, Tearing Claw!" To avoid killing the Burrowing Mouse, Li Changsheng did not dare to let Aixi use the stronger Crushing Claw.

With the support of the Rise Wind skill, Aixi lunged at the Burrowing Mouse at high speed, her claws crossing instantly.

Squeak, squeak—

The Burrowing Mouse did not have time to dodge and was hit on the back by Aixi. Feeling a burning, intense pain, several deep bloody marks appeared on its back, and blood splattered, dyeing the ground red.

Boom—

After struggling a few times, the Burrowing Mouse collapsed powerlessly to the ground. It did not continue to struggle but instead revealed a pitiful appearance.

Li Changsheng came before the Burrowing Mouse and said condescendingly: "If you want to live, then voluntarily open your mind and establish a Temporary Contract with me!"

To Li Changsheng's surprise, the timid Burrowing Mouse, upon discovering it could live, nodded busily and began to cooperate with Li Changsheng voluntarily.

Soon, the Temporary Contract was established, turning into a special mark branded on the Burrowing Mouse's head.

Unlike the Life Contract and Blood Contract, the Temporary Contract has no quantity limit, and the death of the Spirit Beast will not cause a backlash to the Monster Tamer.

But the flaws are also obvious; the Temporary Spirit Pet and the Monster Tamer cannot establish a mental connection, and naturally, it cannot provide feedback to the Monster Tamer, making it difficult to command it like an extension of one's own arm.

Additionally, it cannot be stored in the Demon Pet Space.

Although there is no limit to the number of Temporary Spirit Pets, which can form Spirit Sea Tactics, the drawbacks are also obvious: Temporary Spirit Pets also need to eat, requiring a large amount of resources and energy every day, which is undoubtedly a thankless task.

Burrowing Mouse: Earth Element, rare Spirit Beast, timid personality, skilled at Digging, fur has weak resistance.

Racial Trait: Earth Power (enhances the power of Earth Element skills)

Basic Skills: Bite, Tearing Claw, Sand Splash, Dig, Mud Shot

Advanced Skills: Quicksand Hell, Earth Wave, Crushing Claw, Crunch

Inherited Skill: Giant Sound

Unlike ordinary Burrowing Mouse, because it possesses the bloodline of a Xi Mouse, this Burrowing Mouse also inherited the Xi Mouse's unique Giant Sound skill, which can forcibly interrupt an opponent's skill casting and briefly restrict the opponent's movements.

Soon, under Kailan's healing, the Burrowing Mouse regained its ability to move, but it did not climb up; instead, it touched its shriveled belly and revealed a pitiful look.

Even without establishing a mental connection, Li Zhangsheng still understood the Burrowing Mouse's thoughts, and he could not help but shake his head with a bitter smile as he poured it a bowl of sweet Fairy Food.

The Burrowing Mouse twitched its nose, its eyes lit up, and then, under Aixi's disdainful gaze, it immediately buried its head into the bowl; it was a wild Spirit Beast born and raised in the earth, and this was its first time eating such delicious food, so naturally, it gnawed with great vigor.

"It seems it was starved, no wonder it came to snatch my package!" Seeing the Burrowing Mouse's actions, Li Zhangsheng roughly understood the reason.

After packing everything up, Li Zhangsheng ignored the Burrowing Mouse, crawled back into the tree hole, and fell into a deep sleep while holding Aixi.

PS: The Burrowing Mouse clenches its claws, kneeling and begging for recommendations and collections!
