Chapter 309: Why sleep long while alive, one will surely sleep long after death! (Part 3)

That night, Li Zhangsheng slept for a total of only two hours; he spent the rest of the time studying the data on Yecheng Academy.

Why sleep long while alive!

One will surely sleep long after death!

This was Li Zhangsheng's stance. Moreover, with his current cultivation, even if he only slept for two hours, he remained full of spirit, and it did not affect his performance in the slightest.

This morning, at the Yecheng National Arena!

In the Yuanling Academy rest area, Vice Principal Xu began to announce the starting lineup.

"First Grade: Li Zhangsheng, Zhao Shuyi, and Xu Xiangzhi! Second Grade..."

Upon hearing his own name, Xu Xiangzhi was greatly surprised. He had thought he would be left out again this time, so he could not help but look a bit agitated.

This time, Vice Principal Xu had sent out the starting lineup he considered the strongest.

"Xiangzhi, if you don't perform well this time, you won't have another chance!" After announcing the starting list, Vice Principal Xu did not forget to give Xu Xiangzhi a reminder.

Xu Xiangzhi hurriedly said with excitement: "Yes, I will definitely do my utmost to take down Yecheng Academy!"

"Remember those words!"

Vice Principal Xu paused, looked at the other starting team members whose names had been called, and began to boost morale: "Our opponents are very strong; everyone must not be careless or underestimate them. Of course, I believe we are stronger. The final victory will surely be ours, Yuanling Academy. Get on the field and take them down!"

Under Vice Principal Xu's encouragement, Li Zhangsheng and the others were high in spirits, wishing they could stage a real brawl and have a hand-to-hand fight.

The two teams lined up in two rows. Vice Principal Xu and the team leader of Yecheng Academy exchanged ritualistic greetings. Both sides' right hands touched and immediately parted. With a hint of tension, they stood to the side, waiting for the match to begin.

This time, it was still the first-grade students from both sides who took the field first.

Neither side spoke, instead sizing each other up.

This time, Li Zhangsheng's number was still one. His opponent was a delicate-looking youth named Lin Can, who was currently staring fixedly at Li Zhangsheng, his eyes filled with hatred and killing intent.

Li Zhangsheng remembered his file; both sides came from the same place—Luo City. The opponent was also a direct descendant of the Lin Clan of Luo City and the grandson of the Great Clan Elder of the Lin Family—a genuine enemy.

Just as the Li Family placed their bets on Yuanling Academy, the Lin Family's main targets were Yecheng Academy and another top-eight academy located in Yuan Province.

Of course, the Lin Family also wanted to join Yuanling Academy, but unfortunately, they did not possess the channels to purchase assessment credentials for Yuanling Academy like the Li Family, so they had to settle for the next best thing and choose a top-eight academy.

"No matter what, I must defeat you, and it would be best to collect some interest in advance!"

Lin Can's gaze, filled with killing intent, carried a sense of gravity. He was still a Second-Rank Beast Master, but he was only one step away from the Third Rank. He was the number one freshman of Yecheng Academy and considered his own strength not inferior to an average Third-rank Royal Beast Master.

At this moment, Li Zhangsheng and Lin Can stood on a high platform near the field and, under the organization of the referee, began to eliminate one field each.

"Eliminate the Ice Field!"

"Eliminate the Fire Field!"

The two spoke one after another, eliminating the fields they did not want.

For Li Zhangsheng, neither the Water Field nor the Ice Field was conducive to his performance. The Water Field was fine; at least he still had the Emperor Crocodile, and Kailan, the Fire Flamingo, and the Light Bird could all fly.

As for the Ice Field, its friction was very low, making it easy to slip, which was extremely unfavorable for Aixi and heavy-weight demon pets. Furthermore, it was easily destroyed by fire-element skills, and there were more uncertain factors. This was the main reason Li Zhangsheng eliminated the Ice Field.

After the two made their choices, the Ice Field and Fire Field on the Obsidian Screen disappeared, and a ring of light began to rotate rapidly over the remaining four fields.

The ring of light slowed down more and more, finally stopping on the Water Field.

Without a doubt, this was a field that was not very favorable to Li Zhangsheng. However, judging from Lin Can's expression, he also did not like the Water Field.

At this time, the referee directed several water-element spirit beasts to spray a large amount of water. After five minutes, the original field was filled with water and had completely turned into a Water Field.

Not far away, on the other two fields, Zhao Shuyi and Xu Xiangzhi had also finished selecting their fields and were about to begin their battles.

"The two sides of the match are Li Zhangsheng of Yuanling Academy and Lin Can of Yecheng Academy. Both sides are limited to three demon pets. There is no time limit for the match, and it will be conducted in a singles mode. The winner can change demon pets according to the match rules until one side's demon pets have all lost the ability to fight. Do you both understand?"

After the field was selected, the referee routinely announced the match rules. This referee was a beautiful female Instructor.

Hmm, she came from Yingluo Academy, so naturally, she held some prejudices against Yuanling Academy and Yecheng Academy. This might have been the main reason she was assigned as the referee.

"I announce the match has begun!"

After both sides indicated they understood, the female referee announced the start of the match.

The next moment, Li Zhangsheng and Lin Can simultaneously summoned their first demon pets.

After a burst of dazzling radiance, two demon pets of different forms appeared in the water. They fixed their gazes on each other, their eyes filled with fighting spirit.

Their first choice was, without exception, a safe choice of a water-element demon pet.

Li Zhangsheng chose the Emperor Crocodile. After successfully advancing to the Upper Realm using the Black Dragon Bloodline, the Emperor Crocodile's growth rate was very fast, and it now had the level of an Upper 7th Rank.

On the other side, Lin Can chose the Giant Plate Dragon.

【Spirit Beast Name】: Giant Plate Dragon (Mature Stage)

【Spirit Beast Realm】: Mid-level 9th Rank

【Spirit Beast Race】: Low-level Warrior

【Spirit Beast Quality】: Medium Grade

【Spirit Beast Bloodline】: None

【Spirit Beast Attribute】: Water

【Spirit Beast Status】: Healthy

【Spirit Beast Weakness】: Earth

The Giant Plate Dragon belongs to the dinosaur category—the pliosaur category of spirit beasts. The most prominent features of this category of spirit beasts are a large head, short neck, short tail, and limbs like boat paddles. Its species include the Giant Plate Dragon, Kronosaurus, Liopleurodon, Peloneustes, and so on.

The Giant Plate Dragon possesses large shoulder blades, which is also the origin of its name. These shoulder blades developed into large abdominal bone plates, mainly used to support the front fins. Its body is not very large, only about 5 meters, which is significantly different from the Emperor Crocodile, which is already close to ten meters.

Whether in terms of realm, quality, bloodline, race, or body size, the Emperor Crocodile had the upper hand in everything. As long as Li Zhangsheng did not court death, there was almost no possibility of failure.

On the other side, upon seeing the nearly ten-meter-long Emperor Crocodile, Lin Can's expression immediately became full of gravity. He knew that the Emperor Crocodile belonged to the Upper-level Exotic Beast, at the very least possessed Medium Grade quality, and could reach the Upper Realm upon reaching adulthood.

Lin Can did not know the Emperor Crocodile's data, but due to the Emperor Crocodile's aura, he mistakenly thought this was an adult Emperor Crocodile.

What made him most jealous was that the Emperor Crocodile was released by Li Zhangsheng from a Monster Pet Bag, which meant that this Emperor Crocodile was merely Li Zhangsheng's temporary spirit pet.

Damn it, his own Spirit Essence demon pet couldn't even compare to the other party's temporary spirit pet...

Old rules: Three, Pig, Proof!
