Chapter 7: Why Must Cubs Make Things Difficult for Cubs?

Not long after, Li Zhangsheng sat cross-legged on his bed, his five hearts facing the sky, concentrating his mind and calming his breath, striving to cast aside distracting thoughts as he fell into a special state.

Whoosh, whoosh—

Once his mind was completely stilled, the chirping of cicadas and the sound of the breeze both gradually grew louder.

Li Zhangsheng was not surprised, his heart remaining without a ripple. He did not know how much time had passed when strands of obscure, wondrous light emerged from all around, flowing incessantly into a mysterious place within his body, as if hidden deep within another realm.

The world seemed to split in two, as if he were situated in two different worlds. His soul felt as though it had detached from his physical body, appearing in that other world.

At the center of this world floated a massive ball of light, surrounded by 12 tiny specks of starlight, while all other areas were filled with darkness.

This was Li Zhangsheng's Consciousness Sea!

Among them, the ball of light represented Li Zhangsheng's soul, appearing vast and ethereal, yet clear and bright. The starlight was the product of refined Mental Power; the more starlight there was, the more vigorous the Mental Power.

At this moment, Li Zhangsheng began to circulate the Basic Monster Taming Art to refine his Mental Power.

The "Basic Monster Taming Art" was a fundamental cultivation technique; its content was simple and easy to understand, making it most suitable for low-tier Monster Tamers to practice.

In the process of cultivation, the ball of light seemed to come alive, beginning to vibrate at a peculiar frequency, never stopping for a moment.

The next moment, the ball of light manifested thousands of waves of Mental Power, rising and falling like the sea, in an Endless Life, which was the subtle transformation of Mental Power, surging and splashing to impact the surrounding darkness.

Under the impact of the mental waves, a small patch of darkness vanished, replaced by a speck of starlight. This speck of starlight was dim and barely perceptible, but under the continuous scouring of the mental waves, it began to gradually grow brilliant.

If it were usual, Li Zhangsheng's process of refining Mental Power would undoubtedly be very slow, requiring a vast amount of time to accumulate enough to refine a single symbol of starlight.

But compared to the past, Li Zhangsheng's refining speed was significantly faster, which stemmed from Aixi's feedback.

After signing a Life Contract, a Demon Pet would provide great feedback to the Monster Tamer, primarily determined by the Demon Pet's grade, Bloodline, race, and realm. The more outstanding the Demon Pet's talent and the stronger its power, the more feedback it would provide to the Monster Tamer, which naturally greatly increased the speed at which the Monster Tamer refined Mental Power.

Time flowed slowly. An hour passed, and Li Zhangsheng's brows furrowed slightly. He only felt his head spinning, cold sweat pouring out like paste, and his limbs even began to twitch uncontrollably.

This was a sign of reaching his limit!

Without any hesitation, Li Zhangsheng hurriedly stopped his cultivation and slowly opened his eyes. The corners of his mouth curled up, revealing a smile.

"Aixi's feedback has increased my cultivation speed by a full factor of two! In the future, as long as Aixi's strength steadily improves, my cultivation speed will continue to rise! No wonder this saying is passed down in the world: the Life-Bound Demon Pet is one of the standards for measuring a Monster Tamer's future achievements!"

Li Zhangsheng muttered to himself. Based solely on his current cultivation speed, he feared it would take less than a year to reach the threshold of the next stage.

The next morning, the morning light shone through the wooden window, casting mottled light and shadows.

Mist and clouds knock at the door, pine winds leave tooth marks!

In the room, Li Zhangsheng, who was in a deep sleep, twitched his nose inexplicably. He only felt a foul stench assault him, and his brows furrowed subconsciously.

His originally muddled consciousness cleared up instantly. He hurriedly opened his eyes, and when he saw the scene on the floor, his whole person felt unwell.

On the originally clean and tidy floor, there were several piles of yellow excrement, which were currently emitting a 'charming' aura, with a few flies landing on them, enjoying this 'human delicacy' unique to them.

"Ah, Aixi, don't relieve yourself everywhere!"

Amidst Li Zhangsheng's roar, Aixi, who was still sleeping, was clearly startled. It scrambled up from the floor in a panic, but accidentally bumped into the table nearby.

Bang—clatter—

The table shook violently, and the vase on top tipped over suddenly, finally shattering into a pile of fragments.

"Ah, my Xifu Bilan vase!" Li Zhangsheng wailed. This was a vase left behind by his parents, which he had always taken care of like a treasure; he never expected it to be ruined by Aixi.

Aixi remained oblivious, running to Li Zhangsheng's side, standing on its hind legs, and hugging Li Zhangsheng's thigh.

"Aixi, you are finished!!" Li Zhangsheng said fiercely. He decided to strengthen his supervision of Aixi during training, not giving it any chance to slack off.

Looking at the excrement and vase fragments on the floor, Li Zhangsheng had to roll up his sleeves and transform into a poop-scooper.

A qualified Monster Tamer must also be an excellent poop-scooper!

To save expenses and also to keep secrets, Li Zhangsheng had no personal maid, only two servants who boiled water and cooked; he usually tidied the room himself.

After resolving everything, half an hour had already passed.

After leaving the room, Li Zhangsheng locked the door behind him.

A day's plan starts in the morning; the servants of the Li Family Manor were already busy. Most of the male servants had their chests exposed, doing heavy labor; the female servants were either serving their masters as they woke up or were lighting fires to cook.

Smoke curled up everywhere, drifting into the green mountains and blue sky.

After leaving the small courtyard, Li Zhangsheng arrived at the Training Ground located to the north.

The Training Ground covered dozens of acres; the ground here was level, the equipment complete, and it was also the main venue for the family's Monster Tamers to train their Demon Pets.

When Li Zhangsheng arrived, some clansmen were already training their Demon Pets, jumping and shouting, the scene bustling with activity.

Besides the clansmen, there were also some family guards.

This was a world possessing extraordinary power, where strength was almost equivalent to status. The stronger one's strength, the easier it was to obtain resources and status; therefore, many people were working hard to become stronger, and there was never a lack of hardworking geniuses.

Among them were Li Zhangsheng's competitors. Like Li Zhangsheng, they were all family Monster Tamers who had advanced within the last year. At this moment, they were training their Demon Pets, striving to improve their strength to prepare for the upcoming assessment.

When Li Zhangsheng stepped into the Training Ground, the cute and naive Aixi immediately attracted many people's gazes, especially the women!

"Wow, what a cute kitty!"

"This isn't a kitty, but a tiger-type Spirit Beast cub!"

"Judging from its characteristics, this should be a High-Level Servant race, a Hanging-Eyed White-Forehead Tiger!"

Amidst people's discussions, Li Zhangsheng walked forward slowly, occasionally greeting familiar clansmen.

"The Hanging-Eyed White-Forehead Tiger is good, but my Blazing Wolf is a Medium Grade Spirit Beast; its potential is much stronger than that!"

At this moment, an untimely voice rang out, causing the originally lively atmosphere to fall silent.

Li Zhangsheng looked toward the sound and saw a short-haired youth standing not far away. His eyes were stubborn, and beside him followed a fire-red Blazing Wolf, looking like a ball of burning fire.

His name was Li Jianren, a person who loved to show off. To what extent? If one had to summarize it in one sentence, it would be that he wanted to be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral; he wished to be the focus of the whole world!

Li Jianren raised his gaze and looked at Li Zhangsheng triumphantly. That he could contract a Medium Grade Blazing Wolf was mainly related to his father.

The Li Family had a tradition of raising Spirit Beast cubs, and Li Jianren's father was the Deacon in charge of this area. Through years of companionship and interaction, he knew these Spirit Beast cubs like the back of his hand. When Li Jianren became a Monster Tamer, he naturally gave him some hints.

A Medium Grade Blazing Wolf, even if it was still a cub, as long as it was trained hard, it wouldn't take long to form considerable combat power.

Awoo—

At this moment, the Flame Wolf cub looked up to the sky and let out a long howl, wanting to intimidate Aixi.

Unexpectedly, not only was Aixi not afraid, but it instead revealed an eager-to-try appearance; it glanced sideways at the Flame Wolf and let out a roar in return.

Roar-woo~

In the process of roaring, Aixi's eyes were cold and ferocious, baring its fangs and brandishing its claws; the Intimidation trait began to activate, and its momentum was aggressive, scaring the Flame Wolf cub into involuntarily taking a step back, looking like a frost-bitten eggplant as it whimpered and lowered its head.

Why must a cub make things difficult for another cub!

"How is this possible!"

Li Jianren stared with wide eyes, revealing an expression of disbelief, forgetting to counterattack for a moment.

At the same time, the gazes many people directed at Aixi held a bit more curiosity, while some others looked at the Flame Wolf with eyes full of contempt. Although both were Spirit Beast cubs, the Flame Wolf was clearly larger than Aixi, and the Flame Wolf's courage was simply too small.

Li Zhangsheng shook his head, ignored the stunned Li Jianren, and walked toward the bamboo forest in the northeast corner.

As he left, Li Zhangsheng used his projected Mental Power to obtain the Flame Wolf's data.

【Spirit Beast Name】: Flame Wolf (Infancy Stage)

【Spirit Beast Realm】: Lower 3rd Rank

【Spirit Beast Race】: Medium Servant

【Spirit Beast Quality】: Mid-grade

【Spirit Beast Bloodline】: None

【Spirit Beast Attribute】: Fire Element

【Spirit Beast Status】: Healthy

【Spirit Beast Weakness】: Water Attribute

"With Aixi's potential, it surely won't take long before it completes its surpassing of the Flame Wolf!"

In terms of potential, Aixi far surpasses the Flame Wolf, not just due to the gap in quality, but also factors of Bloodline and race.
