Chapter 84: The Three Major Colleges

Yuanling Academy has three major colleges, which are the Battle Academy, the Alchemist Academy, and the Artifact Maker Academy.

The three colleges each have their own characteristics; one can tell just from their names that the Battle Academy is responsible for combat, focusing primarily on strengthening combat power and tactics; the Alchemist Academy aims to cultivate the ability to acquire alchemical knowledge, refining Alchemical Pills useful to Demon Pets or Monster Tamers; the Artifact Maker Academy goes without saying, focusing on cultivating students' ability to craft treasures.

In short, the three colleges each have their own areas of focus.

If one focuses on actual combat, one will generally choose the Battle Academy.

As for the other two colleges, they can also enhance a Monster Tamer's strength; the Alchemical Pills produced by the Alchemist Academy possess various different effects, combining cultivation, recovery, amplification, and breakthroughs into one, as well as some very special Alchemical Pills.

The treasures produced by the Artifact Maker Academy can significantly increase a Demon Pet's strength, and it is also a technique for accumulating wealth.

However, wanting to become a qualified alchemist or Artifact Refiner requires repeated, massive practice, as well as spending a high price.

According to the different focuses of Yuanling Academy, the Battle Academy is allocated the most resources and has historically been the college with the strongest faculty.

Compared to the Battle Academy, the resources of the other two colleges are relatively fewer; combined, they do not even equal the Battle Academy.

It is also because of this that most students lean toward the Battle Academy, but unfortunately, the Battle Academy has a quota limit, which creates a situation where there are more monks than gruel.

Every student only has one chance to choose, so the importance to the students is self-evident, and it is also an important event during the opening period of each session of Yuanling Academy.

After the college is assigned, then comes the assignment of classes and Instructors. Classes teach basic knowledge and techniques, while Instructors teach advanced knowledge; the latter is undoubtedly more important.

Additionally, there is a large gap between Instructors; most Instructors have the level of a Third-Rank Monster Tamer, and there are also Fourth-rank or even Fifth-rank Instructors, but their numbers are much smaller, and most of them are Instructors from the Battle Academy.

The stronger an Instructor's strength, the richer the knowledge they possess, and the more resources and wider connections they have; they are often more generous when giving things out.

Of course, there is no lack of stingy Fourth or Fifth-rank Instructors; this is not only related to the Instructor's personality but also to the number of students the Instructor teaches—the fewer students they take, the higher the treatment relatively is.

No matter how you look at it, choosing an Instructor is a matter that affects one's entire life; even Li Zhangsheng does not dare to be negligent.

According to the rules of Yuanling Academy, whether it is the assignment of the college, Instructor, or class, it will all be decided after the start of the term.

However, there are policies above and countermeasures below; many Instructors, in order to take in their preferred students, will make contact with students in advance, and to entice excellent new students, they will even promise some benefits.

Without a doubt, Li Zhangsheng is an excellent new student. Especially since he is the new student with the best results in all three assessments, he is undoubtedly a top student who is excellent in every aspect; these Instructors naturally will not let him go, hoping to "reserve" Li Zhangsheng in advance.

Of course, they are not stupid enough to promise benefits openly; for one, the cost of competition is too high, and for another, even if the competition is successful, other Instructors might not necessarily refrain from reporting them.

Regarding the contention of several Instructors, Li Zhangsheng feigned excitement on the surface, as if feeling happy for the "favor" of the various Instructors, but in reality, he had already made a decision; with his three best assessment results, he could completely choose the best Instructor, which also best conforms to his interests.

While the several Instructors were arguing, taking advantage of the Savage Boar's fear of Aixi, Li Zhangsheng successfully signed a Temporary Contract with the Savage Boar and took it into his Monster Pet Bag.

During the waiting process, a quarter of an hour passed quickly; only then did another examinee finally arrive at the peak and obtain an excellent assessment result.

After the second examinee arrived, it was as if a hornet's nest had been poked; more and more examinees successfully arrived at the peak, among whom was Li Jingyi, who was the fourth examinee to arrive at the peak and also obtained an excellent assessment result.

Li Jingyi being able to obtain an excellent assessment result was mainly thanks to Li Zhangsheng's help; otherwise, not only would she not have obtained an excellent assessment result, but there would even have been a risk of failure.

Without a doubt, Li Jingyi owed Li Zhangsheng a favor.

Not long after, Li Runfeng and Li Tianyu arrived at the peak together; their results were slightly worse than Li Jingyi's, but they both obtained good assessment results.

This also meant that the Li Clan Four Heroes had all passed the assessment and officially became students of Yuanling Academy; for the Li Family, this was definitely a great encouragement, and the family was very likely to prosper because of this.

Among them, Li Zhangsheng's results were the best; as of now, he is also the only examinee to have achieved the best in all three items, and presumably, no examinees will achieve this feat later; Li Runfeng's results were also good, with two excellents and one good; Li Tianyu and Li Jingyi were equivalent, ranking in the upper-middle level among all examinees.

When all the sand in the hourglass had fallen, it indicated that the third assessment had officially ended; examinees who had not arrived at the peak within the stipulated time could only be eliminated.

It did not exceed Li Zhangsheng's expectations; including the Li Clan Four Heroes, a total of only 21 people successfully passed the assessment, and the elimination rate was self-evident.

"Several Instructors, I still have matters to attend to, so I will head back first!"

As soon as the assessment ended, Li Zhangsheng hurriedly bid farewell to the several Instructors and left Yunwu Mountain together with Li Runfeng and the other two.

It was already dusk; the three assessments had taken a total of over three hours, which consumed a large amount of their mental and physical strength. Li Zhangsheng and the others were exhausted amidst their excitement, and they all had the thought of finding a bed to lie down on.

However, before that, they still had to report the good news to the three Clan Elders and incidentally purchase some daily necessities.

At the entrance of Yuanling Academy, many parents were waiting; most of them had anxious expressions, stretching their necks and staring at the entrance.

Among them were the family's three Clan Elders.

Ever since Li Zhangsheng and the four of them entered, the three Clan Elders had spent the time in anxiety; there was no helping it, the admission rate of Yuanling Academy was very low, and they were terrified that all four of them would be eliminated.

In these past few years, the Li Family would send two people to participate in the Yuanling Academy assessment every year, but unfortunately, only one person would become a student of Yuanling Academy, and the rest would all be tragically eliminated; this was also the reason why they were full of anxiety.

Thus, when Li Zhangsheng and the four of them came out, the three Clan Elders immediately surrounded them.

"Did you all pass?"

"Clan Elders, we all passed the assessment!" Li Runfeng answered first, the excitement in his eyes overflowing; he couldn't wait to share the joy in his heart.

Upon hearing this news, the three Clan Elders were clearly stunned for a moment, revealing expressions of disbelief, which were then replaced by wild joy.

"Jingyi, tell this old man truthfully, were you all admitted?" The leading Clan Elder was afraid that Li Runfeng was lying to him and wanted to confirm again.

He and Li Jingyi's grandfather were cousins, and the two families had always maintained a good relationship.

"Grandfather Li Yi, how would we dare to lie to you? We were all admitted, and Changsheng even got the best in all three assessments! Look, look, this is the admission certificate, they have them too!"

While speaking, Li Jingyi handed the Student Token, which she hadn't even warmed up yet, to Clan Elder Li Yi; compared to the Recommendation Token, the Student Token was more exquisite and represented the student's identity.
