Chapter 1728: To-Do List
They sailed for two days and arrived at the Boat Market; the journey was not boring, as they had companions—the older boys played cards while the little girls chattered away.
The fishing boat docked at the port, and everyone began to stretch.
The daytime dock was not as lively as at night, yet ships still came and went, and vehicles still came and went.
Their boat was naturally eye-catching, but even more eye-catching were those three small cars.
If there were only one small car, it would be fine; people would at most feel envious and surprised, but three cars being hoisted down from the same boat would cause shock wherever they went.
Ye Yaodong had already been numbed by the shock of passersby; not only him, but the whole family was numb, while the workers still felt honored, and after disembarking, they chattered away loudly as they listened to the dockworkers around them asking questions.
Upon hearing it was Dongsheng Fisheries and that the cars were bought by the boss, everyone instantly felt it was normal and deserved; the boss bought cars, and buying two at once was only to be expected.
They had already bought such a huge boat; mere two cars were nothing... but for ordinary people like them, it was truly enviable; they couldn't afford it, but looking was fine.
After the cars were hoisted down, Ye Yaodong drove the boat to his own docking spot to park, and only then did he disembark and walk over.
After the factory received notice of their docking, it also sent a large truck to pick them up.
The workers all boarded the large truck together, while those who originally rode in the small cars continued to ride in the small cars, following behind the large truck toward the factory.
All along the way, of course, they drew the crowd's attention, with a hundred percent head-turning rate.
Ye's father specifically rolled down the window to show off his handsome driving posture.
Ye Ye Chengjiang did the same; of course, driving a big Mercedes meant showing off.
The other big Mercedes that Lin Ji had boarded was snatched by Lin Guangming to drive; with Ye Chenghe as a competitor gone, Lin Lin Guangwen couldn't beat him and could only reluctantly board the large truck to squeeze in with everyone else.
All three enjoyed the attention from driving, and the two younger brothers had already started planning that once they earned money, they would buy one too.
Ye Chenghu was extremely envious; their own car hadn't allowed him to show off, but they had done it, even though it was their family's car.
Damn it, he was born a few years later, was still studying, and couldn't yet learn to drive or get a driver's license.
Halfway through the journey, the small cars parted ways with the truck.
The three cars headed to the processing factory, while the truck had to take the workers to the dormitory headquarters.
The factory guard saw the three small cars arrive at the gate, was slightly surprised, came out to see it was the boss, and immediately pulled open the large iron gate.
"Wow, damn, they said they'd buy a small car last year, and finally they've driven it back..."
"Tsk tsk tsk, buying three at once, so impressive, the boss is so powerful..."
Ye's father got out of the car with a big smile, "Happy New Year, Old Zhang."
"Happy New Year, happy New Year, President Ye is amazing; just got your driver's license and immediately have a car to drive; from now on, you'll personally pick up the factory's guests."
"I got the driver's license in the first place to drive and pick up guests."
The guard gave him a thumbs-up.
Ye Yaodong rolled down his window and said to his father, "Drive the car down to the dormitory building; the luggage is still in the car, park closer to move the luggage."
"Oh, oh, okay..."
Ye's father immediately got back in the car; the person who had just gotten out got back in.
Ye Yaodong's car had already driven ahead to the dormitory building.
The mother and her two children were going to Shanghai in a few days, so he didn't take most of the luggage off the car, only his own and a sack of cash.
The other things would be temporarily left in the car; later, the car would have to be driven back to the dock, hoisted onto the boat, and transported to Shanghai.
Ye Chenghu sighed, "This New Year passed quite quickly; it's already over?"
"How is it over? We rushed over; otherwise, the New Year isn't considered over until after the fifteenth," Ye Ye Chengjiang said as he got out of the car to reply.
Lin Guangming mocked him, "I only stayed for one night yesterday, and I know you were dying to get out; now you're complaining that the New Year isn't over yet and you rushed over."
"What? Home is so great; I wish I could just stay home eating and drinking, how awesome; coming out means starting to earn money bitterly."
Ye Ye Chengjiang lied with his eyes open, then threw his luggage to him.
"Do more, talk less! Take my luggage upstairs; I'll drive the car to park over by that wall corner."
Lin Guangming caught the thrown luggage and tossed it to Lin Lin Guangwen, "Take it upstairs; I need to park the car too, and take my luggage upstairs for me as well."
Lin Lin Guangwen carried a pile of luggage, cursing; damn it! He did all the hard labor while they got all the glory.
Ye Yaodong called out to Lin Guangming, "Help me take my sister's family to their rental house."
"Okay."
Ye Ye Xiaoxi pulled Pei Yu, "Sister, you stay here, right? We'll sleep together."
Pei Yu looked at Ye Ye Huimei; without her mother's nod, she dared not make the decision on her own.
Ye Ye Huimei nodded, "Then you can play here; you can take a nap with your sister for a while; we'll take the luggage back first; the room needs cleaning too."
"I want to stay here too!"
"Me too!"
The twins spoke up one after another.
"Then everyone stays here; later we'll rush over to Ajiang and Chenghu's room to show them; the older ones will take care of the younger ones."
With Ye Yaodong's words, the twins immediately ran happily toward Ye Chenghu and Ye Ye Chengyang.
The two brothers looked down at the two little ones, turned their heads, and stepped up the stairs.
"You must be obedient and good; no messing around, or I'll beat you! I'll take off your pants and drag you to the door to beat you!"
The two brothers simultaneously covered their crotches with one hand and their buttocks with the other, "Cousin, we'll definitely be good; we definitely won't cause trouble."
Ye Chenghu was satisfied and then signaled for them to follow.
"Third brother, then we'll go back first to tidy up; once we're done, I'll come back to pick them up," Ye Ye Huimei said with a smile.
"Okay, go do your thing; leaving them here is safe; so many people are watching; they won't get lost."
Ah Guang also said, "Tell us when you're going to Shanghai; we'll prepare in advance."
"I will."
Ye Yaodong and Lin Lin Xiuqing also went back to their room.
He sprawled out on the bed in a starfish position.
Lin Lin Xiuqing wrung out a rag, wiped the bed first, then took out the quilts stored in the cabinet before the New Year and spread them.
"It's done. Come lie down and rest for a while. You've been on the boat for two days and must be tired. We'll talk about the factory after you wake up; anyway, no one is coming to look for us."
Ye Yaodong quickly stripped off his clothes and pants. "We're all back, what's the difference between now and a little later? I'll take a nap first to recharge my energy. You should take a nap too; you didn't rest well on the boat either."
Lin Lin Xiuqing stretched as well. "Mm."
Just as the children had been sent away to be watched by the older kids, they could now rest assured and catch up on their sleep.
Many factories hadn't reached their start time yet, nor did they need deliveries from them. As long as the factory arranged shift schedules properly, normal processing and production could continue. Without outside troubles, as long as the factory was managed well, there generally wouldn't be any urgent matters.
He spent this New Year quite peacefully. At most, the factory called every two or three days to report production progress. There was no need to deal with outsiders; as long as internal management was handled, the problems were minor.
"Which school will you arrange for your son and daughter to attend in Shanghai when the time comes?"
"See if the primary and middle schools near the Western-style house will accept them. Paying extra for temporary enrollment fees is fine. If they won't accept them, then arrange for a school closer to your eldest son."
"Chenghu wasn't allowed to attend school in Puxi back then; these two surely won't be allowed either, right?"
"We'll go and ask in a couple of days. Right now, I'm just guessing blindly."
Today is the thirteenth of the lunar month. Tomorrow he will sort out the factory matters, and on the fifteenth, he will take them to Shanghai.
Ye Chenghu is registering on the fifteenth; registering him will allow the other two to be arranged for temporary enrollment at the same time.
Ye Yaodong pondered that after waking up, he would make a phone call in advance to arrange things, so they could register directly when they arrived the day after tomorrow.
He also mentally sorted through the things he needed to do once he arrived in Shanghai.
With the urgent matter of the children's school registration solved, he still had to go to the Jiangnan Shipyard to accept delivery of his Pioneer No. 2 first, then find an auspicious day to sail it back.
There were also two Ocean-class ships, one at the East Sea Shipyard and the other at a different shipyard. After accepting the Pioneer, he would also need to go and accept delivery of ships No. 8 and No. 9. By then, he might even be able to sail all three ships back together.
He also needed to check the progress of other ships, such as East Fishing No. 2 and No. 3, and then continue to place orders for the Pioneer No. 3 fresh-fish carrier.
These were the urgent matters he needed to handle next. Another important task was the Shanghai office; after the New Year, he needed to assemble the team there as well.
The location had already been decided. He had rented an office building before the New Year. To be closer to home, he chose Puxi.
Pudong is still dilapidated and under construction. It won't be too late to rent a nicer place in Pudong after the Oriental Pearl Tower is finished.
He planned to arrange two personal assistants from home for the office, to be brought over by Aqing. He could just pick two of his own cousins; after all, they would just be doing odd jobs at the beginning, nothing serious. It was a good opportunity for learning, suitable for young people.
Having family members follow Aqing would make him feel more at ease and ensure they could look out for each other. Once the office got on track, they could hire more staff later. Sending three people over to hold the fort now, to receive guests and handle arrangements, would be enough.
Thinking of this, he also thought about hiring bodyguards. He would hire two women who could also work as assistants. That way, Aqing's group would have five people in total, which would be sufficient.
Ye Yaodong counted up the tasks to be done; there really were quite a few.
This trip to Shanghai would be busy. He estimated they would stay for at least a week, perhaps ten days.
After returning, once he finished the factory matters, he would definitely have to go out to sea again. With three large long-haul ships added, this would be the first voyage of the new year, and he would need to go out and inspect them first.
Staying at home felt great, with nothing to do, but upon returning, a quick count revealed a pile of tasks, most of which were urgent. Once he arrived, he would have to handle them all in quick succession.
Just after lying down, the couple couldn't fall asleep immediately. He listed the upcoming tasks for Aqing in detail to see if anything was missed.
Only after speaking did the couple sleep peacefully until the afternoon, waking up at nearly 4 o'clock. This was because the children downstairs were making a racket; otherwise, they probably would have slept until sunset.
When they went downstairs, several people were chattering away, introducing their small car to the workers.
Ps: This is a transition chapter where I got stuck writing, so it ends here.
