Chapter 124: Night Visit to the Internet Cafe

When night came, around 11 PM, Zhang Yinuo and I arrived at the internet cafe. We opened two machines for the whole night and started waiting. By around 2 or 3 AM, only a few internet-addicted teenagers remained in the internet cafe. These people were engrossed in their games, while others who couldn't stay awake were sleeping on the tables.

So, Zhang Yinuo and I stood up secretly and started looking around. Because this internet cafe wasn't very legitimate, there wasn't even any surveillance, which actually made things easier for us.

We walked around the area several times, and finally, Zhang Yinuo stopped and looked around, saying, "I've checked. Aside from the two restrooms, the rest is the space in the very back. There's likely no other way!"

"Restrooms? Could there be a path in the restrooms?" I looked at Zhang Yinuo in confusion.

"Holy crap, really? A secret room or passage? Have you watched too much TV? Where would such things exist?" I was still skeptical because such things only appeared in TV shows and novels; I couldn't quite believe it.

"Believe it or not, my house has a secret room. You're just inexperienced!" Zhang Yinuo snorted coldly.

Hearing Zhang Yinuo's words, I looked at her in disbelief. "Ah? It really exists? Then let's go take a look!"

Internet cafe restrooms were generally very small, barely enough to hold two or three people, so it didn't matter if Zhang Yinuo and I went in together. However, when we reached the men's restroom, Zhang Yinuo hesitated. Seeing this, I coughed awkwardly and said, "How about I go in and check, and you wait for me at the door!"

Zhang Yinuo thought for a moment. Just as I was about to go in, she looked around and grabbed me, saying, "Forget it, I'll go with you!"

Fortunately, there weren't many people around. The one or two people who saw a man and a woman go in didn't say anything; after all, such things were common in internet cafes. We had to go to the last place, which was the very back of the internet cafe. That spot was rarely visited and was basically used to store snacks and drinks. It was also locked, and only the staff had the key. Aside from the staff, occasionally one or two people would pass by, but they would always return normally.

I looked at the internet cafe manager, who was already asleep on the table, so I wanted to go over and take the keys from him. But just as I was about to go, Zhang Yinuo stopped me: "Don't move, I'll go!"

I saw Zhang Yinuo flash over; her speed was extremely fast, and more importantly, she made no sound at all. Before long, she returned with the keys.

There was a breeze coming through, so there must be a space underneath. And this place was very hidden; a row of drinks perfectly blocked Zhang Yinuo and me from view. I looked at Zhang Yinuo and said, "What now? Are we going down?"

Zhang Yinuo thought for a moment and nodded, saying, "Be careful, don't make any noise!"

I nodded heavily. After all, this was a very serious matter. Who knew what was waiting for us down there? If there were many experts below, we wouldn't be able to resist with our current strength, so we had to be as careful as possible.

Zhang Yinuo tested the floor and slowly lifted a floorboard. Sure enough, there was a secret staircase leading down. Zhang Yinuo and I walked down slowly and quietly. I nodded and carefully followed behind Zhang Yinuo, slowly approaching the distant lights. That place looked like a prison, and also like a laboratory, because I saw many chemical instruments. It was likely the place where the Li family experimented with strengthening potions.
