Chapter 148: Rescue Plan

Third Brother rolled his eyes at me, looking annoyed, and whispered, "It’s all for the sake of survival. Do you think Laozi has lived through these years any other way?"

Zhang Yinuo, standing beside us, glared at the two of us and held up a finger to her lips in a "shush" gesture. We quickly shut our mouths.

After the door opened, we hurried to the side of the Dean of Students and Liu Shuang. Looking at Liu Shuang, I quickly whispered, "Whatever you have to say, wait until we get out. We’re here to rescue you now. Hurry, follow me!"

Hearing my words, Liu Shuang hesitated and didn't follow immediately. Seeing him unmoved, I asked in confusion, "What are you doing? Hurry up! At a time like this, do you really think we’d try to trick you?"

"Why are you saving me?" Liu Shuang asked, looking at me.

I looked at Liu Shuang and smiled, saying, "Because we have a common enemy!"

Hearing this, Liu Shuang hesitated for a moment before saying to me, "I still have to save my mother!"

"I say, don't push your luck. It’s already giving you enough face that we came to save you. How are we supposed to escape if we have to carry so much dead weight?" Third Brother said, clearly angry.

"They aren't dead weight; they are my parents. If my mother doesn't get out, I’ll just have to come back. As long as my parents are in Li Hong's hands, I will still be at his mercy!"

Third Brother wanted to say more, but I stopped him. I looked at Liu Shuang and asked, "Fine, where is your mother? We’ll go save her!"

"Thank you!" Liu Shuang had no extra words, just those two simple ones, though one could tell his heart was filled with a complex mix of emotions.

Liu Shuang woke up his father, the Dean of Students. The Dean wanted to say something when he saw us, but Liu Shuang stopped him. Although the Dean didn't fully understand, he knew we were likely there to rescue him, so he kept quiet.

After we left the room, I looked at Liu Shuang, waiting for him to lead us to his mother. But the guy stood there for a long time without moving. Third Brother grew impatient: "What are you doing? Don't you know we’re in danger right now? Can you hurry up?"

"I’m not sure where my mother is right now, so we have to look for her!" Liu Shuang said helplessly.

"Damn it, don't push it. Do you know what you're doing?" Third Brother was so angry he looked like he was going mad.

"Shuang, why don't you guys go first? I’ll stay behind to find your mother and then catch up with you!" The Dean of Students, seeing our predicament, spoke up first.

But Liu Shuang wouldn't agree and immediately rejected his father's suggestion.

"Enough, stop talking. We might have found her by now if we had spent this time searching. Let's look, but keep your movements light and be careful!" I said to everyone.

Third Brother was frustrated, but there was truly no other way. We searched a circle but found no clues. Suddenly, I felt a vibration on my bracelet, and at the same time, Third Brother and Zhang Yinuo felt it too. We exchanged glances and quickly said to Liu Shuang, "Bad news, someone is coming down. We have to leave immediately, or we won't be able to get out!"

"No, I haven't found my mother yet!" Liu Shuang was extremely unwilling.

"What time do you think it is? We have to save who we can! People are already here; if we don't leave now, we won't be able to leave at all!" Third Brother said angrily.

But Liu Shuang remained stubborn, standing there without moving. He said to us, "You guys go ahead. The exit is right in front, but you need a key. The key is on the guard at the door. You can just go out directly!"

"Then what about you?" I asked, looking at Liu Shuang.

"I'm not leaving. I have to find my mother!" Liu Shuang said.

"Fine, then I’ll stay and help you look!" I decided on the spot, then said to Third Brother, "Take them and go first. I’ll stay and help him find his mother!"

Hearing my words, Third Brother was speechless. He said to both of us, "Are you two crazy?"

"Enough, stop talking. You guys go!" I hurried off with Liu Shuang to find his mother.

Suddenly, as we reached a certain spot, Liu Shuang stopped. Looking at the figure locked inside, he shouted excitedly, "Mom!"

His shout startled everyone around. The other prisoners woke up, and the commotion began to grow.

Seeing this, I quickly said, "Quick, save her! We don't have much time!"

Liu Shuang smashed the lock on the door with brute force. His smashing woke up the guards as well. Suddenly, the entire place began to flash with red lights and an alarm sounded.

Standing at the door, I saw many people rushing toward us. I quickly said to Liu Shuang, "Hurry, they're coming!"

Hearing me, Liu Shuang quickly put his mother on his back and rushed out the door. More and more people appeared—it looked like over a dozen—and judging by the speed at which they were running, most were experts.

We rushed toward the exit. Fortunately, Third Brother and Zhang Yinuo had already cleared the way, and they were still waiting at the door, ready to cover us.

I heard voices from behind: "Stop them! Don't let them get away!"

Seeing this, Third Brother shouted at us, "Hurry, hurry!"

Liu Shuang couldn't run fast with his mother on his back. After only a few steps, we were surrounded. Seeing this, I stopped and turned back to support Liu Shuang.

The people surrounding us attacked Liu Shuang and me without a word. After trading blows, I could immediately tell that these people were like Liu Shuang—experts modified by the strengthening potion. They clearly couldn't feel pain; they had raw power but no technique.

Third Brother and Zhang Yinuo rushed over to help, but the number of opponents kept increasing, and the experts arriving were getting stronger.

Seeing this, I shouted to them, "No, we can't get dragged down here! There are too many of them. You guys go first, I’ll stay and hold them off!"

"Fourth, what are you talking about? If we leave, we leave together. What do you mean by staying behind?" Third Brother said.

Liu Shuang’s expression turned resolute. He slowly put his mother down and handed her to me, saying, "Yang Yun, I leave my parents to you. I’ll stay here and block them. You guys go!"

Hearing Liu Shuang, his parents struggled with their emotions. His mother cried and grabbed his hand, saying, "Shuang, have you lost your mind? Don't do anything stupid!"
