Chapter 23: The Seed of Hatred
When I arrived at Night Color Bar, I saw a crowd gathered at the entrance. I pushed through the crowd and saw a pool of blood on the ground. I was completely stunned, because the person lying on the ground was none other than Su Xueyan. I ran over frantically and held the Su Xueyan on the ground, my expression nearing a breakdown.
"Xueyan, Xueyan!" I called her name, hoping she could hear me and wake up.
But no one answered me. I slumped powerlessly to the ground, tears of frustration streaming down.
At this moment, Third Brother rushed over quickly. Seeing me and Su Xueyan, he immediately said, "The ambulance is coming, get ready!"
I looked at Third Brother, my expression desolate: "Why did it turn out like this?"
Third Brother looked at me awkwardly: "We’ll talk about that after we get to the hospital!"
After the ambulance arrived, we followed it to the hospital. Su Xueyan was in the emergency room, and I waited anxiously outside.
Finally, after a while, the doctor came out and said to us anxiously: "The patient has been resuscitated, but she’s fading fast. You should go see her one last time!"
Hearing this, I felt as if I had been struck by lightning. I rushed into the ward like a madman. Seeing Su Xueyan lying on the bed, pale, I sat by the bedside, holding her hand, my expression shattered, tears flowing uncontrollably from my eyes.
Su Xueyan weakly raised her hand, wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes, and said, "Don't cry. I don't want to see you crying at the very end!"
I gently wiped away my tears, took a deep breath, and said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it’s all my fault, I'm sorry!"
Su Xueyan smiled slightly, looked at me, her expression growing more pained: "Although I might know what’s in your heart, I still want to confirm: Yang Yun, have you ever liked me?"
"I like you, I have always liked you!" I said, my voice trembling as I spoke the truth from my heart.
Hearing my words, a brilliant smile appeared on Su Xueyan’s face—a sunny, heartfelt smile. At this moment, Su Xueyan suddenly coughed severely a few times. I quickly said, "Don't talk anymore!"
Su Xueyan’s gaze shifted to the door. Only then did I notice that two women had arrived—one older, one younger. They looked like Su Xueyan’s sister and mother. Su Xueyan’s sister looked at her on the bed, tears streaming down as she buried her face in her mother’s arms, sobbing. Su Xueyan’s mother was also teary-eyed, struggling to keep from crying out loud.
Su Xueyan looked at me and said intermittently, "I leave Mom and my sister to you. Although I know this request is unreasonable, I have no other friends, so please, I beg you!"
I nodded heavily: "Don't worry, I will definitely take care of them as if they were my own mother and sister!"
Su Xueyan smiled slightly, looked at the ceiling, slowly closed her eyes, and used her last bit of strength to say one thing: "Yang Yun, can you kiss me one last time?"
I stood up gently, placed my hands on either side of Su Xueyan, and lowered my head slightly to kiss her lips. At that moment, Su Xueyan was still smiling. I don't know how much time passed, but when I slowly raised my head, I found that Su Xueyan had stopped breathing. I sat by the bed in agony, weeping bitterly. Third Brother sighed, patted my shoulder gently, and left.
Su Xueyan’s sister and mother also ran over in agony, hugging Su Xueyan and crying. My whole world seemed to have collapsed, even more so than when I was bullied by Zhang Longtao.
Su Xueyan’s mother was named Zhang Fengnan, and her sister was named Su Xueya. Just as I had guessed before, the girl who could tie with Zhang Yinuo in academic performance was indeed Su Xueyan’s sister. Su Xueya and Zhang Fengnan returned home and buried Su Xueyan. Because it was a case of the elderly burying the young, it wasn't a "happy funeral," so no funeral service was held. As for me, I knelt at the entrance of Su Xueyan’s home, begging for forgiveness from Zhang Fengnan and Su Xueya.
Although Su Xueya said she didn't blame me, I could never forgive myself. Moreover, Zhang Fengnan hadn't been willing to see me these past few days, likely out of anger. Su Xueyan was gone, having left this world. I still found it hard to believe. At the same time, I thought about the circumstances of her death. According to Third Brother, the girls he had been seeing happened to be hanging out at Night Color Bar when they suddenly heard a "bang" outside, and Su Xueyan had fallen from above. The police had investigated but found nothing, merely calling it an accidental fall. The bar had paid some money to Zhang Fengnan’s family, which Sister Ling had personally delivered, and she had even given extra. However, I felt this matter couldn't be that simple. Why did Su Xueyan go to the bar that night? That remained unknown. But a seed of hatred had been planted in Yang Yun’s heart. Yang Yun secretly swore that he would definitely avenge Su Xueyan.
Without realizing it, I had been kneeling at Su Xueyan’s doorstep for two days. I didn't care about the gazes of the outside world at all. I only knew that I had failed Su Xueyan and her family.
Su Xueya returned from school and saw me still kneeling at the door. She sighed and said to me, "We really don't blame you. You’ve been kneeling here for two days without eating or drinking. If my sister saw this, she would be heartbroken!"
I ignored her words, my expression somewhat dazed and hazy. Having not eaten or rested for two days, I was completely on the verge of physical collapse, my eyes still fixed on the front door.
Su Xueya sighed and went inside. Not long after, Zhang Fengnan and Su Xueya came out. It was clear that Su Xueya had been persuading her mother for a long time. Zhang Fengnan looked at the groggy me and sighed: "Sigh, it’s all fate. I didn't say I blame you. Get up and come inside to eat something!"
Hearing Zhang Fengnan’s words, I finally felt a sense of relief and closed my eyes, passing out.
When I woke up, I found myself in a strange place. I looked around and realized it looked like a girl’s bedroom, inexplicably pink-themed.
Just then, I saw Su Xueya. Seeing me wake up, she quickly said, "You’re finally awake. If my sister knew, she would definitely blame me. Lie down properly. My mom just made some porridge; wait a moment, I’ll bring it for you to drink!"
"It’s okay, I can go over there myself," I said, quickly getting out of bed to stop Su Xueya. Su Xueya was startled and hurried over to help me back to bed.
I gave an awkward smile and said, "Are you treating me like an old grandfather?"
"You haven't rested or eaten for two days. Your body is currently in a sub-health state, so you have to be obedient and lie quietly in bed! Wait for me to feed you!" Su Xueya said, helping me onto the bed and instructing me.
Feed me? I was stunned, feeling incredibly awkward. I was just about to say something, but I realized the girl had already run out.
