Chapter 62: Declaring Ambition

The Third Brother and I ran all the way home. Even now, I hadn't quite recovered. I couldn't believe Wang Li had just died like that. How was I supposed to investigate what happened before? I lay on the bed with a headache.

"It's fine, stop thinking about it. Wang Li offended a lot of people; it might not be what you think!" The Third Brother comforted me from the side.

After the Third Brother finished speaking, he left.

"Come out, I'm downstairs at your place!"

I quickly climbed out of bed, stuck my head out the window, and looked down, finding that Su Xueya had indeed arrived.

I went downstairs and saw Su Xueya. She smiled at me for a rare moment, "I want to have a drink, can you keep me company?"

I nodded. I was annoyed to death right now and happened to want a drink too. We bought some alcohol, and Su Xueya brought me to the riverside.

I looked at the riverside in front of me, a bit surprised. This was exactly where Su Xueyan and I had drank before. I still remembered how Su Xueyan got drunk and went crazy, pinning me down and wanting to kiss me. She was truly adorable.

Su Xueya sat on the ground and then turned to look at me, "Sit down, what are you standing there for!"

Seeing me sit down, Su Xueya said to me, "Do you know? My sister drank with you right here and didn't go home all night. When she went home the next day, my mother was furious and wanted to hit her. But my sister wasn't afraid and even talked back to my mother. That was the first time my sister had ever talked back to my mother. Hearing this, I fell silent. Xueyan was truly wonderful; her kindness made the me of that time feel ashamed, so I never dared to respond to her directly.

"Come, let's finish this drink!" Su Xueya handed me an opened can of beer and then clinked her can against mine.

I drank it all in one gulp with bitterness. After finishing, Su Xueya's face was flushed red as she said to me, "Do you know what my sister liked most about you back then?"

I looked at Su Xueya, puzzled.

"My sister liked the sense of justice and courage in you most. For a girl you hadn't really interacted with, you could risk your life to help her. Yet, you overcame this fear and cowardice for my sister, so my sister liked you very much!"

I knew Su Xueya probably knew about what happened today. It was likely the Third Brother who asked her to come and persuade me, as she had arrived not long after the Third Brother left.

"I know about Wang Li. I know what you're worried about. If it were me, I definitely wouldn't investigate further, because compared to those things, being alive is the most important. I believe that no matter what choice you make, my sister would support you!"

Su Xueya picked up a can of beer, handed it to me, and stared at me, "I will support you too!"
