Chapter 75: The Young Master from the Provincial Capital
"Put in a good word with the Principal? Isn't it enough that they’re back in class?" I asked the Dean, puzzled.
"Young Master Yang, you can't just leave me hanging! The Principal is going to hate me to death now. I’ve offended so many people. I hope you can put in a good word with the Principal and ask those families to let it go!" the Dean said, sweating profusely.
Hearing this, I understood a bit. It was likely that the people behind Chen Ling and the others had come to cause trouble. I nodded at the Dean. "Fine, I can only say I’ll try to talk to them. Whether it works or not isn't up to me!"
The Dean looked at me gratefully. "Then I’ll leave it to you, Young Master Yang!"
I didn't have any deep-seated hatred for the Dean, so there was no need to be so ruthless. Besides, it was just a matter of saying a few words. Of course, I didn't know if it would work. If it didn't, there was nothing I could do, as I couldn't control their decisions.
I went to the Principal’s office. Seeing me, the Principal apologized. "I’m sorry, student Yang Yun. This was my mistake, but don't worry, I’ve handled it strictly!"
"Actually, it wasn't that serious. It was just a small problem, and the Dean has already apologized to me. I think we should just let it go!"
The Principal smiled. "Since you’ve said so, that’s fine. As long as those people don't come back to cause trouble, it’s really nothing. I was just worried about the parents making a scene, you understand?"
I nodded to show I understood. The Principal was still asking me to step in and talk to Chen Ling and the others so their parents wouldn't come back to cause trouble.
This wasn't a big deal to begin with. I talked to Chen Ling and Zhang Yinuo, and they agreed. Their parents never came back to cause trouble, otherwise, the Dean would have really been finished.
After this incident, Liu Shuang calmed down a lot and didn't dare to act cocky in front of me anymore. On the surface, he was polite, but who knew what he was thinking inside.
Just as I was lost in thought in the classroom, our homeroom teacher walked in with a smile, followed by two people. Those two were none other than Zhang Wu and his wife, Hu Wei. They were fast—they said they were coming yesterday, and today they were already enrolled. It was clear that Zhang Wu’s family background was quite powerful; he probably wasn't just a simple second-generation rich kid.
The teacher stood on the podium and smiled at us. "Students, we have two new classmates today. Let’s welcome them!"
He started clapping, and the class followed. However, the girls were less interested because Zhang Wu wasn't exactly handsome, and being on the chubby side, he wasn't their type. As the saying goes, "being fat ruins everything," which is true. But I vaguely heard a few girls discussing Zhang Wu, though they were talking about his clothes and watch. Their eyes were shining as they looked at him. It was obvious they were typical gold-diggers. Zhang Wu’s clothes and watch were indeed extraordinary; anyone with a discerning eye could tell, though not many people in school could truly recognize them.
The boys were screaming and jeering. Although Hu Wei wasn't as beautiful as Chen Ling or Zhang Yinuo, she was still a beauty and had an outgoing personality, which was the type most men liked.
After a brief self-introduction, Zhang Wu and Hu Wei sat behind me and Third Brother. The classmates were disappointed to see them sitting together, especially the boys, who wished they could kill Zhang Wu—it felt like a good cabbage being eaten by a pig. But they didn't dare, because they realized Zhang Wu was close with me and Third Brother.
"Fifth, you’re fast! You got here so quickly! Did your parents agree?" Third Brother turned around and smiled at Zhang Wu.
"Getting my parents to agree is a piece of cake. This is all thanks to Weiwei, otherwise my parents wouldn't have agreed to let me come to such a small school!" Zhang Wu looked at Hu Wei gratefully.
"Now you know to be grateful? You usually just make me angry. You’re typical of someone who doesn't know what’s good for them!" Hu Wei said to Zhang Wu, annoyed.
Zhang Wu smiled foolishly and quickly said to Hu Wei, "Weiwei, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. From now on, I’ll do whatever you tell me!"
"That’s more like it!"
Seeing Zhang Wu like this, Third Brother and I burst into laughter. Third Brother even laughed and said, "Fifth, your family status in the future might be lower than a dog’s!"
"What are you saying? You’re the one lower than a dog!" Zhang Wu’s face turned blue with anger.
"By the way, where are you staying now? What are your plans?" I asked Zhang Wu, puzzled.
"My dad bought me a house here, right near the school. If you have time, I’ll take you over to hang out. The house is quite big; it’s more than enough for us."
"By the sound of it, you bought a villa? At least four or five rooms, right? Not bad, Fifth, you’re quite rich!"
"No, this house was a gift from a friend of my dad’s, but we never used it. It just happened that I could move in when I came here!"
Today also happened to be the day Huang Laohu invited me to dinner. I was considering who to bring. After thinking for a long time, I decided to bring Third Brother and Fifth. I wouldn't bring anyone else. Although bringing Chen Ling and Zhang Yinuo might have a deterrent effect, it could also backfire. So, I just brought two friends.
Third Brother and Fifth didn't refuse and naturally followed me. We arrived at the place Huang Laohu had agreed upon and went upstairs. We found Huang Laohu already waiting there. I hurried over, extended my hand, and said to Huang Laohu, "Tiger Brother, you’re too early. I specifically came half an hour early, but I didn't expect you to be waiting for me. I’m really sorry!"
"Brother Yang, what are you saying? You’re being too formal. We’re brothers, let’s not worry about small things. Come, sit down!" Huang Laohu extended his hand to shake mine and gestured for us to sit.
Third Brother, Fifth, and I sat opposite him, feeling a bit restrained. Especially Fifth—although his family background was better than ours, this was his first time encountering such a situation and his first time seeing the legendary Huang Laohu, so he was inevitably a bit timid.
"Brother Yang, you’ve been doing well lately. If I’m not mistaken, this should be the young master of the Zhang family from the provincial capital, right?" Huang Laohu looked at Zhang Wu with a smile.
