Chapter 534: Two Million Words
Two million words now
Two million words now
After two million words!
Nine months have passed.
Time flies like a white horse passing through a crevice; it still feels like just when I started writing.
To be honest, for Jiudeng, two million words isn’t particularly emotional—he’s written several books that exceeded two million words.
Looking at the discarded drafts, this book, including scrapped chapters and cut sections, totals two million three hundred thousand words.
Nine months, two million three hundred thousand words—in the context of Qidian, it’s not exceptionally diligent, but still fairly decent.
Since his child was born two years ago, Jiudeng finally understood what it means to write while young.
After thirty, with elders above and children below, energy gets drained by countless household duties and trivial matters.
Over these two years, Jiudeng has completed a full life.
After thirty, he married, established his career, bought a house, finished renovation, and now waits only for ventilation to end before moving in—with both son and daughter.
Before thirty, he lived for himself—free and carefree; the protagonists in his books were more carefree.
After thirty, he lives for his family.
Often, when plotting scenes, Jiudeng now wonders if they can be more reasonable—this is the result of aging, which brings both advantages and disadvantages to writing.
The advantage is that the story logic becomes tighter; the disadvantage is that many plots lose their punch.
For instance, the original outline had many satisfying moments, but as he wrote, he changed many of them.
Take the previous book: the protagonist fled. In my original concept, he angered a major power and was relentlessly hunted, forced to hide and evade—logic demanded he couldn’t simply move to a new place and instantly encounter a completely new group of factions.
So, besides writing, Jiudeng also reads fast-paced novels to stay young and keep his passion alive.
Thank you all for your support all along. Nothing else to say—this book will end in about another million words, and I’ll try to finish it this year.
Wishing you all a happy September, and also asking for a guaranteed monthly vote.
