Chapter 1141: You Acted Too Manly!

Tang Ye returned to his residence.

Zheng Shaokang's call came through.

Zheng Shaokang was somewhat uneasy.

The county has recently been carrying out a major rectification campaign for government services...

He knew the true nature of the people below him all too well.

Is the grassroots Public Security Bureau hard-working?

Of course it is hard-working.

But there is also a group of people who feel that the heavens are high and the emperor is far away, and they have grown accustomed to being lazy.

They haven't taken the rectification campaign to heart...

"County Magistrate Tang, the brawl in Zhaojiang Town has been properly handled.

The cause of the incident was a dispute over passengers between a taxi driver and an illegal cab driver."

"What is the result of the handling?"

Zheng Shaokang said: "The taxi driver's car was smashed, and the illegal cab driver will bear all repair costs;

The illegal cab driver was injured, and the taxi driver will bear the medical expenses and lost wages."

Tang Ye was dissatisfied: "The method of hitting both sides with fifty strokes each is not fair."

Zheng Shaokang was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly asked: "How do you think it should be handled to be appropriate?"

"Mayor Jiang and I were at the scene at the time. The reason the taxi driver picked up that passenger was because the passenger was holding a child with a high fever and was in a hurry to get to the hospital for treatment.

The illegal cab driver took the opportunity to demand an exorbitant price and loot a burning house; the taxi driver couldn't stand it, which is why he acted with courage to help.

The illegal cab driver himself has no operating qualifications; his behavior is not only illegal, but it also lacks basic humanity."

Zheng Shaokang's heart sank; he had been misled by Cai Guobiao.

"County Magistrate Tang, it is because I did not understand it deeply enough.

I will adjust the handling plan, make the illegal cab driver compensate for all the taxi's losses, and detain him for a few days.

Do you think this is feasible?"

"The illegal cab driver must be severely punished."

"The illegal cab driver is not an individual, but a gang.

Dozens of people came to the scene of the fight at the time, directly blocking the road and causing an extremely bad social impact.

This road from Zhaojiang Town to the county seat has always been controlled by certain forces—during the day, private minibus owners monopolize the passengers, and after the buses stop running at eight in the evening, illegal cab drivers from the county passenger station solicit passengers.

If any taxi driver dares to come and compete with them for passengers, this gang of illegal cab drivers will gather together to threaten and intimidate the taxi driver.

Transportation is related to the happiness index of the common people.

This kind of chaotic phenomenon is too egregious and must be thoroughly rectified."

Zheng Shaokang actually also knew that illegal cabs are a hidden danger to social instability.

Illegal cab drivers are a mixed bag with high mobility, and their operations are not standardized; many vicious cases have occurred before.

For example, some illegal cabs are faulty cars bought from the second-hand market, or even scrapped cars, which pose serious safety hazards."

"County Magistrate Tang, we have actually always been paying attention to the chaos of illegal cabs. These drivers are very cunning; they know that the Public Security Bureau is going to investigate, so they will temporarily restrain themselves for a period of time, and once the wind blows over, they will make a comeback.

In addition, when we seal up illegal cabs, the common people do not quite understand and feel that travel is inconvenient."

"Our county's passenger transport system does indeed have problems, but this is not an excuse; when problems are discovered, they must be solved with full effort." Tang Ye's tone allowed for no doubt.

Cold sweat broke out on Zheng Shaokang's forehead, and he hurriedly replied: "You are right, we will launch an operation to crack down on the chaos of illegal cabs."

Tang Ye understood that actions that float on the surface can only treat the symptoms, not the root cause.

In the final analysis, one must still find the root.

Tang Ye changed the subject: "There is one more thing that requires your assistance."

Zheng Shaokang said: "Please give your orders, I will definitely cooperate fully."

"Find a few reliable people to go with me to the Zhaojiang Wharf tomorrow. This matter must be kept confidential; do not let any word leak out."

Zheng Shaokang was stunned for a moment, then immediately replied: "Okay, County Magistrate Tang, I will follow your arrangements!"

Zheng Shaokang sorted out his thoughts and dialed Cai Guobiao's phone.

Seeing Zheng Shaokang's call, Cai Guobiao immediately had a headache.

"County Magistrate Zheng, do you have any instructions?"

Zheng Shaokang's tone was very heavy:

"Regarding the handling method for the illegal cab driver, it is still too light.

First, the illegal cab driver has no legal operating qualifications, and operating without authorization is an illegal act in itself;

Second, he gathered idle people to surround and block the taxi driver, which belongs to the behavior of picking quarrels and provoking trouble, and gathering a crowd to disturb public order;

More importantly, at that time, the passenger was in a hurry to take a child with a high fever to the hospital. From the perspective of conscience and morality, the taxi driver's behavior was an act of courage, worthy of promotion and affirmation."

He didn't expect Zheng Shaokang to know the details so thoroughly; he couldn't fool him even if he wanted to...

Cai Guobiao felt a chill in his heart.

"Okay, County Magistrate Zheng, we will adjust the handling immediately, detain the illegal cab driver according to the law, and as for his demands for medical expenses and lost wages, they will all be rejected."

Zheng Shaokang sternly reprimanded: "Comrade Guobiao, the social atmosphere in Zhaojiang Town needs to be improved. I hope you can grasp the rectification well and reverse this situation."

"Yes, yes, yes, County Magistrate Zheng, I will definitely pay attention, rectify immediately, and will never be perfunctory!" Cai Guobiao hurriedly expressed his stance.

Having been severely criticized by his superior.

Cai Guobiao naturally felt bad inside.

He called over a police officer, "Let the taxi driver go."

The police officer asked in confusion, "What about the illegal taxi driver? How should we handle him?"

Cai Guobiao's expression turned cold: "Detain him for a few days to dampen his arrogance. Also, notify the others running illegal taxis to behave themselves lately and not cause any more trouble. If anyone dares to commit offenses in defiance of the law, they will be strictly investigated and punished without exception."

Taxi driver Zhang Ping sat inside the Interrogation Room, his heart filled with mixed emotions.

This taxi was rented; he had actually known for a long time that the route in Zhaojiang Town was difficult to run because illegal taxis were rampant, but sometimes when he encountered customers with needs, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and take the order.

However, he did not regret his actions at the time.

The child's condition was clearly very critical at that moment; he could not just turn a blind eye!

"Zhang Ping, you can go now," the police officer said softly as he walked into the Interrogation Room.

Zhang Ping was stunned, looking at the police officer with a face full of surprise: "I... I can go?"

The police officer nodded: "Yes, you don't have to cover the illegal taxi driver's medical expenses or lost wages; he will cover the vehicle's repair costs."

Zhang Ping's eyes were full of astonishment.

He had originally prepared for the worst.

He had not expected the matter to be resolved so smoothly.

He hurriedly stood up: "Thank you, comrade Police, thank you all!"

"You're welcome," the police officer lowered his voice to remind him, "In the future, if you encounter such things again, don't be too impulsive. Once you resort to violence, you will be in a passive position, and the losses will outweigh the gains."

Zhang Ping thought to himself that if a similar incident happened again, he still wouldn't be able to help himself!

Not far from the Police Station, a taxi was parked, its license plate looking very familiar.

The driver in the car saw Zhang Ping come out, hurriedly got out of the car, and walked toward him.

Zhang Ping recognized the other person at a glance and said with a smile: "Lao Gao, why are you here?"

Lao Gao walked up, handed Zhang Ping a cigarette, patted him on the shoulder, and said with a smile: "I came to pick you up."

Zhang Ping smiled self-deprecatingly: "I'm really sorry, I've delayed your business."

Lao Gao waved his hand, his tone sincere: "What business did you delay? I just happened to be nearby."

"I'll take you to the hospital to treat your wounds."

"Old Zhang, you were a real man for what you did!"

"Everyone admires you!"
