Chapter 1346: Call Off the Concert Immediately!

Wenyang City.

Mayor's Office.

Han Zhengyi flipped through the approval report for the "Wenyang All-Stars Concert" and then dialed the number of the Municipal Government Secretary-General, Chen Xirong.

"Secretary-General Chen, please come to my office."

"Understood, I will be there immediately!"

Chen Xirong walked into the office, saw Han Zhengyi's dark expression, felt a jolt in his heart, and asked softly, "Mayor Han, do you have any instructions?"

Han Zhengyi handed the approval report to Chen Xirong, "Regarding this concert, it must be called off immediately!"

Chen Xirong was startled, "Mayor Han, this concert has already begun promotion. It is less than half a month away; if we call it off now, all the initial investments from the sponsors will be thrown down the drain."

Han Zhengyi explained with a serious expression,

"In March of this year, the film 'The Orphan of Zhao' held its opening press conference. Due to poor stage construction, it collapsed after being trampled by numerous media reporters, resulting in four reporters being seriously injured and many others sustaining minor injuries...

In other similar public events, this type of problem is a common occurrence.

Wenyang has just experienced a massive earthquake.

At a time like this, one must strive for stability in all actions.

This proposal is written very sloppily!

The concert requires building a stage, yet there is no convincing construction plan provided.

As the event organizer, one must act according to one's capabilities; one cannot just focus on making money while ignoring safety.

How many spectators the venue can withstand, and how the stands and stage should be built, must be considered with the utmost caution.

Harboring a mentality of taking chances, blindly increasing seating, or hastily building stands and stages undoubtedly buries safety hazards.

Therefore, this concert must still be handled with caution!

Wait until the procedures are complete and the safety guarantees are reasonable before considering whether to approve it!"

Chen Xirong had long guessed that after Han Zhengyi took office, he would perform the "three fires of a new official."

However, he did not expect Han Zhengyi to target this performance event.

Upon careful thought, this was understandable.

This performance event was originally promoted entirely by Tan Zonghe.

As the successor, Han Zhengyi would certainly treat it with caution.

On the surface, a large-scale concert could increase Wenyang's influence.

But, it easily reminded people of the former mayor, Tan Zonghe.

Additionally, large-scale performance events involve dense crowds and indeed hide safety hazards.

Therefore, Han Zhengyi's cautious treatment of this matter was reasonable and logical.

Returning to his office, Chen Xirong dialed Fan Shaoqun's number.

"Chairman Fan, hello, this is Chen Xirong from the Wenyang Municipal Government."

During the time Tan Zonghe served as mayor,

Chen Xirong frequently attended various occasions with Tan Zonghe.

Privately, Fan Shaoqun and Chen Xirong had eaten together several times.

"Hello, Secretary-General Chen. Has the activity proposal for the All-Stars Concert been approved?" Fan Shaoqun asked hurriedly.

"I am calling you precisely to communicate about this. The proposal has been called off by Mayor Han. He believes the proposal is not detailed enough, especially since the stage construction plan lacks sufficient guarantees, and he is worried that a major accident might occur at the concert."

Upon hearing this, Fan Shaoqun said somewhat angrily, "Our approval procedures are sound. The fire department, public security, and the Propaganda Department have all signed off. The concert is about to be held; isn't calling it off at this time an intentional act of making things difficult?"

Chen Xirong was helpless, "Chairman Fan, with a new mayor, you need to be mentally prepared. I am unable to help you here!"

Hanging up on Chen Xirong, Fan Shaoqun felt as if his lungs were about to burst.

After Tan Zonghe fled to avoid punishment, Han Zhengyi took his place.

He had a bad premonition at the time.

Sure enough.

After Han Zhengyi took office, he immediately started making things difficult for him.

Fan Shaoqun had no choice,

and could only call Gao Qidong for help.

Gao Qidong answered the phone.

Fan Shaoqun began by offering congratulations, "Congratulations on your promotion, Mayor Gao."

Gao Qidong laughed, "Thank you. You called me, but it's not just to congratulate me, is it?"

Fan Shaoqun immediately said indignantly, "Mayor Gao, I just received news from the Wenyang Municipal Government Office requesting that the All-Stars Concert be postponed. We have promoted it for so long and sold so many tickets; requesting a change of date now makes things very difficult for us!"

Gao Qidong frowned, "I am powerless in this matter as well. You should know that Wenyang is currently facing problems. Tan Zonghe fled to avoid punishment, and the Acting Mayor is newly appointed. He will have very strict requirements for such large-scale events. If a concert for tens of thousands of people is not sufficiently prepared and causes a safety accident, it will bring great negative impact to society."

Fan Shaoqun had originally thought Gao Qidong would back him up.

He did not expect Gao Qidong to stand on Han Zhengyi's side.

"Mayor Gao, we have prepared for a long time for this event. A postponement will cause huge losses to the investors. I hope you can put in a word for us; we will fully cooperate with the government to ensure safety measures."

Gao Qidong was silent for a few seconds, "Chairman Fan, there are many ways to make money, but sometimes, money that is too difficult to earn should not be earned. Do you understand what I mean?"

Fan Shaoqun tried hard to control his emotions, "Mayor Gao, I understand what you mean. I will follow your arrangements!"

Gao Qidong also wanted to help Fan Shaoqun.

However, the current situation was special, and Han Zhengyi was establishing his authority upon taking office!

It was not appropriate for him to intervene forcefully.

Tang Ye felt quite bitter inside as well.

He had invested a great deal of energy into this concert himself.

Now that an unexpected turn of events had occurred, he also felt humiliated.

After hanging up the phone with Gao Qidong, Fan Shaoqun kicked over the coffee table in a fit of rage.

He had been in contact with many mainland officials, and who among them did not treat him with the utmost courtesy?

Only Han Zhengyi and Tang Ye treated him as if he were an enemy.

Han Zhengyi had previously been transferred to the Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department by Gong Weimin, which Fan Shaoqun had found particularly satisfying at the time.

However, who could have imagined that not long after, he would replace Tan Zonghe and become the Mayor of Wenyang.

After pondering for a long time, Fan Shaoqun had no choice but to dial Cai Yao's number.

"Mr. Cai, there is a matter I need to inform you of. The All-Star Concert in Wenyang must be postponed."

Cai Yao was stunned, "I have already arranged my schedule. If it's postponed, what about the tickets that have already been sold?"

Fan Shaoqun sighed helplessly, "Refund them!"

Cai Yao asked curiously, "When would be a suitable time to postpone it to?"

Fan Shaoqun gave a helpless, bitter smile, "I don't know either. Prepare for it to be canceled!"

Cai Yao was somewhat angry, "We have already signed a contract, it's in black and white; how can you just cancel it like that?"

Fan Shaoqun explained patiently, "Wenyang has just changed to a new Mayor. With a new leader, there will be new policies. We have no choice but to accept this loss!"

Cai Yao grumbled, "That guy surnamed Tan looked unreliable from the start! When he came to Hong Kong, he spent every day eating, drinking, and having fun. Several artists reported to me that this guy's demands were particularly absurd... saying things like he wanted to try playing golf!"

Tan Zonghe had been introduced by Fan Shaoqun.

Fan Shaoqun's face burned, and he felt deeply annoyed inside.

"A fall into a pit, a gain in your wit. When a suitable opportunity arises, we will find another chance to cooperate and make money!"

Rest assured, I will find a way to make up for this loss for you elsewhere!"
