Chapter 1374: Mayor Gao's Surprise Inspection!

Xiyang City.

Villa district.

The sound of barking dogs pierced the silence of the deep night.

Ding Zhen walked into the courtyard.

A large black dog barked wildly at him.

He felt a sudden flutter of panic.

Ding Zhen mused to himself that Mayor Gao liked keeping dogs, and furthermore, liked keeping large, fierce dogs!

At the same time, he changed dogs quite frequently.

From this detail, one could see that Mayor Gao had an extremely strong desire for control and domestication, was deeply suspicious, and was cold-blooded to the core.

The vicious dog growled incessantly.

Gao Qidong heard the commotion and walked out.

He let out a shout, "What are you barking for!"

The black dog tucked its tail, whimpered, clamped its tail tight, and scurried into its kennel.

Ding Zhen wondered to himself how this dog had been trained to be so obedient.

This skill in dog training was truly quite impressive!

"Secretary Ding, long time no see!" Gao Qidong greeted him with a smile.

A smile was squeezed onto Ding Zhen's face, "Mayor Gao, hello."

After entering the house, Ding Zhen discovered several familiar faces.

These people were all Gao Qidong's confidants.

Seeing that everyone had arrived, Gao Qidong beckoned to them, "Let's go to the dining room and chat while we eat."

The group walked into the dining room.

Gao Qidong picked up his wine glass and said with a smile, "Welcome, everyone, for gracing this small gathering with your presence. Everyone here today is one of our own; there is plenty of wine, so feel free to drink your fill."

The group stood up one after another, picked up their glasses, and downed the wine in one gulp.

When the meal ended, Gao Qidong called out to stop Ding Zhen, "Secretary Ding, please stay a moment."

Ding Zhen followed Gao Qidong into the study.

Gao Qidong handed Ding Zhen a cigarette.

Ding Zhen lit it and took a puff.

Gao Qidong narrowed his eyes and asked, "I heard that a Provincial Government Inspection Team has recently arrived in Yechuan County?"

Ding Zhen nodded, "Yes, the inspection team has been here for quite a while and will be leaving soon."

Gao Qidong was silent for a few seconds, "Yechuan County will have major planning and major development in the future; you must seize the opportunity!"

Ding Zhen sighed, "I want to seize the opportunity too. However, this person Tang Ye is very difficult to deal with."

Gao Qidong nodded slightly, "You did not gain an advantage in the adjustment list for Section Chief cadres in Yechuan County. However, do not be discouraged by temporary gains or losses; wait quietly, and there will always be an opportunity."

Ding Zhen said softly, "Thank you for your encouragement, Mayor Gao. I will adjust my mindset. However, being so passive all the time makes me feel quite stifled."

Gao Qidong understood what Ding Zhen meant; he hoped for his backing.

"How about this: I am going to the grassroots for research next week. I heard that Yechuan conducted an early assessment of townships and discovered that some townships were falsifying data to improve their political achievements. I will go to Yechuan to understand the situation! If there are any violations, I will give Tang Ye a warning!"

Ding Zhen's eyes lit up, "That's great! We welcome Mayor Gao to come for an inspection."

Gao Qidong waved his hand, "This inspection will be in the form of a surprise visit; the Municipal Government Office will not notify the county."

Ding Zhen nodded, knowing that Gao Qidong intended to conduct a surprise inspection to catch them off guard.

The intention was obvious: to embarrass Tang Ye...

Monday, six o'clock, the sky was slightly bright.

When Tang Ye set out to leave, Du Xi was sleeping very sweetly because she had been exhausted the previous night.

He kissed Du Xi on the forehead and then drove back to Yechuan.

He arrived at the Yechuan Government right around eight o'clock.

Just as he got out of the car, Ma Ran hurried over to greet him.

"County Magistrate Tang, ten minutes ago, I received an urgent notification that Mayor Gao's inspection motorcade is already on the way and will arrive around nine o'clock."

"Do you know the purpose of Mayor Gao's research?"

"I'm not sure!"

Tang Ye thought for a moment and analyzed the reason for Gao Qidong's research; it was most likely related to the recent cadre assessment and data verification in Yechuan County.

It pointed directly to the problem of inflated and falsified economic indicator data in Yechuan County.

With problems in the township data, the entire county's overall data was also being called into question.

"Where is Secretary Ding? Has he been notified?"

"Secretary Ding went to the Provincial Capital today to attend a special meeting and is not in the county."

Tang Ye was stunned for a moment; Gao Qidong was coming down for research, and Ding Zhen happened to be away from the county.

Clearly, it reeked of deliberate planning!

"Notify the County Party Committee Office immediately! Contact all Standing Committee Members who are in the county and on duty; they must all be in place before nine o'clock to wait and welcome Mayor Gao's inspection."

At nine o'clock, the motorcade drove into the County Party Committee Compound.

Gao Qidong stepped out of the car slowly.

Tang Ye stepped forward quickly to welcome him and explained, "Mayor Gao, welcome to Yechuan for your inspection and guidance! Secretary Ding went to the Provincial Capital today to attend a meeting and could not be here, so I am here to welcome you."

Gao Qidong nodded slightly, "I spoke with Comrade Ding Zhen on the phone. I originally intended to notify you today and come down tomorrow, but I have to go to the provincial level for a meeting tomorrow, so I just came down today. Of course, not notifying you in advance is also because I want to see the most authentic side."

Tang Ye said, "Mayor Gao's concern for the development of Yechuan shows how much importance he places on us. Our work style is pragmatic; please rest assured, Mayor Gao, we will certainly show you the most authentic side of things."

Gao Qidong waved his hand indifferently. "As the saying goes, seeing is believing, hearing is doubting. Please, Comrade Tang Ye, walk and look along with me."

Tang Ye replied with a smile, "My job today is to follow you. Whatever you wish to see, I will accompany you throughout."

Seeing Tang Ye's look of confidence, Gao Qidong felt a bit strange.

How could Tang Ye be so confident?

Was he not afraid that he might uncover some problems?

Or perhaps, he was just putting on a brave front, bluffing!

Gao Qidong turned to the Secretary-General of the municipal government and said, "Tell Comrade Tang Ye our itinerary for today!"

The Secretary-General of the municipal government took out an itinerary. "County Magistrate Tang, please see if this schedule is suitable. If there are no issues, we shall depart immediately."

Tang Ye took a glance; apart from the Gaozhi Building for the Eastward Strategy, everything else involved visiting townships.

This confirmed his own guess!

He had come specifically for the falsified economic indicator data!

"It is suitable. I have no objections."

Gao Qidong swept a glance at the others and said, "There is no need for too many people to follow me. Everyone else should continue their normal work. Only Comrade Tang Ye will follow me and ride in my car."

"Comrade Tang Ye, do you need to bring anyone along?"

Tang Ye said, "I will just bring a Liaison Officer."

Gao Qidong nodded and said, "Very well, you ride in my car, and have your Liaison Officer ride in another vehicle."

Tang Ye followed Gao Qidong into the car.

Once the motorcade departed, Cheng Xin dialed Ding Zhen's number.

"Secretary Ding, Mayor Gao's car has already headed to the townships. He only requested that County Magistrate Tang follow him."

Secretary Ding's tone was deep. "Understood. Keep in contact with Comrade Tang Ye, and report to me at any time if there are any special circumstances."

"Understood, Secretary Ding."

After hanging up Cheng Xin's call,

Ding Zhen could not help but let out a cold laugh.

Tang Ye, oh Tang Ye.

You overturned my personnel adjustment plan, and it looks like you have won.

However, you have also made a grave mistake.

You have burst the bubble of the falsified economic indicator data.

You have broken the rules of the game and indirectly affected the personal interests of many people!

In officialdom, such a person is destined to become a target of public criticism.

Thinking of this, he muttered to himself, "With this surprise inspection, I want to see how you handle it!"
