Chapter 196: Section Chief Tang Intends to Spread Rumors!

~8 min read 1,500 words

Tang Ye returned to the hospital room once again.

He saw that Jiang Rou's eyes were tightly shut.

At a glance, he saw through her pretense of being asleep.

"Stop pretending, your father has already left."

Jiang Rou slowly opened her eyes, stared straight at Tang Ye, and said coldly, "You can leave too."

Tang Ye, however, did not mind, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly, "I'll leave right after I finish saying one thing."

"What thing? You aren't planning to lecture me, are you? You saved me, and I am very grateful, but that doesn't mean you can just boss me around as you please!"

Tang Ye rolled his eyes at Jiang Rou in exasperation, "I don't have that kind of free time. Starting tomorrow, you are transferring to Hanzhou to study. I will arrange a tutor for you later to help you bring your grades up."

Jiang Rou was stunned for a moment, then shouted indignantly, "By what right do you make decisions for me? He is too overbearing!"

Tang Ye shook his head with a wry smile: "This isn't your father's decision; it's a suggestion I made. As the saying goes, see a person through to the end; if you are allowed to continue being this willful, similar dangers will find their way to your door sooner or later."

"Your father is busy with work and truly cannot spare much time to take care of you, but he has always cared about you in his heart. Your learning and living environment were all arranged according to your own wishes. However, I don't think you can be allowed to act so recklessly anymore."

Jiang Rou laughed out of extreme anger: "Why should I have to listen to your arrangements?"

Tang Ye's gaze was sincere and firm: "Because I saved you! And because I am one of the few people in this world who firmly believes you can change for the better."

Jiang Rou was instantly stunned.

This last sentence of Tang Ye's was like a sharp ray of light, piercing straight through her heart.

In the days past, whether it was teachers, classmates, or her parents, everyone had been utterly disappointed in her, feeling she was beyond saving.

Yet, Tang Ye was completely different; he believed she still had the possibility of changing.

Seeing Jiang Rou fall into deep thought, Tang Ye used a hint of provocation in his tone: "Of course, if you are willing to be a coward, want to continue living that muddled, meaningless life, and become a disgrace to your father and a delinquent girl in the eyes of others, then I have nothing more to say."

Jiang Rou gritted her teeth and said, "Fine, I agree to this arrangement!"

Tang Ye waved his hand at Jiang Rou and said gently, "Then get some good rest; I will come to see you when I have time."

After Tang Ye left the hospital room, Jiang Rou sat alone on the bed, recalling everything that had happened today, feeling as if it were an absurd and bizarre dream. Transferring from Qiongjin to Hanzhou, living with her father every day from now on, and having to work hard to become a positive and motivated student.

"Jiang Rou, oh Jiang Rou, what exactly are you thinking? How could you agree to such an outrageous request?"

……

Tang Ye left the hospital.

He hurried without pause to the Tianling County Public Security Bureau.

In the Interrogation Room, Dai Pengfei was sitting there.

His cheeks were swollen high.

Tang Ye glanced at Wan Ming in surprise.

Wan Ming looked smug, "I hit him; he tried to assault an officer."

Tang Ye was long since accustomed to Wan Ming's unconventional methods.

Alternative law enforcement was carved into Wan Ming's bones; he couldn't change it even if he wanted to.

He sat down calmly on the opposite side.

Wan Ming introduced Tang Ye.

"Boss Dai, let me introduce you. This is Tang Ye. He was previously the Town Mayor of Pinghu Town and is now Mayor Jiang's Secretary. It was he who sent Shang Deyi to prison."

Hearing this, a cold glint flashed instantly in Dai Pengfei's eyes, "So it was you. Don't get too smug; the happier you laugh today, the more miserably you will fall another day."

Tang Ye was speechless for a moment—did he laugh?

He was very confident in his own facial expression management!

He definitely didn't laugh!

He analyzed it to himself.

Compared to Shang Deyi, Dai Pengfei was clearly easier to deal with.

Shang Deyi had a stiff mouth and was extremely calculating;

while Dai Pengfei was used to being arrogant in his daily life, and his mind was far from as deep as Shang Deyi's.

"Dai Pengfei, I know why you are so fearless—is it because you think Young Master Huang will bail you out?" Tang Ye paused slightly and continued, "Shang Deyi is your cautionary tale; don't you have any idea? As soon as you lose your utility, he will abandon you without the slightest hesitation."

Dai Pengfei snorted coldly, "Walking the path of the underworld, loyalty comes first. Stop trying to sow discord here; if you have any issues, just come at me."

"Alright then, I'll give you a few pieces of news." Tang Ye's expression was calm, "That arsonist has already confessed and even identified you as the mastermind. His daughter suffers from heart disease and urgently needed surgery fees, so you made him take the fall, promising you would pay for his daughter's surgery."

Dai Pengfei's expression changed slightly, and he feigned composure, saying, "He is spouting nonsense; do you have proof?"

Tang Ye sighed softly and said slowly, "He kept a guard up and recorded the conversation between the two of you that day."

"Despicable!" Dai Pengfei cursed under his breath and then fell silent.

Tang Ye sneered and continued, "I know you are wondering why he would bite back at you. You might as well ask your subordinates what they did to his daughter!"

"In name, you found a place for his daughter to recover, but in reality, you had people hold her captive."

"Those subordinates of yours were even more insane; they violated his daughter."

"When we found her, she was covered in injuries, and her mental state had also collapsed."

Dai Pengfei knew about this matter; he had been searching everywhere for that woman recently but couldn't find her anywhere. He hadn't expected that she had already been taken under Tang Ye's protection.

Only then did he realize that he had been tricked by Wan Ming.

On the surface, Wan Ming had been suspended, but in reality, the investigation had never stopped; everything was being conducted in secret.

Tang Ye keenly sensed that Dai Pengfei's extremely arrogant aura had been successfully suppressed.

"Dai Pengfei, have you ever considered this possibility? The Young Master Huang you worship and believe in so deeply is actually nothing more than a complete and utter fraud. The so-called connections he claims to have in the provincial government are all fabricated lies."

Upon hearing this, a look of panic flashed in Dai Pengfei's eyes, but he quickly feigned composure again and snorted coldly, "Hmph, stop trying to shift the topic to others. If you have evidence, just show it."

Tang Ye spoke to himself, "Ten years ago, a swindler surnamed Huang stepped into Hanzhou. He went to great pains to meticulously package himself as a wealthy young master from the provincial capital, and by relying on superb methods, he wove a seemingly vast but actually illusory social circle. He is very good at utilizing various resources to create a false impression, which is why many people easily believed his nonsense. Dai Pengfei, you are precisely one of those he deceived."

A complex and indistinguishable emotion flashed in Dai Pengfei's eyes!

"Dai Pengfei, you are definitely going to prison. As for the person you are desperately shielding and protecting, it won't be long before they stand in court alongside you."

After saying this, Tang Ye strode out of the Interrogation Room.

Wan Ming followed in Tang Ye's footsteps and asked in a low voice, "Is the identity of that Young Master Huang really fake?"

"Who cares if it's real or fake!

Their criminal gang only gathered together because of Young Master Huang's identity and background.

The highest form of warfare is to attack the enemy's strategy; the next is to attack their mind.

Once this foundation is shaken, they will naturally fall into chaos from within.

Once things are in disarray, we will have an opportunity to exploit and can take advantage of the situation to round them all up.

Arrange for more people to spread the word that Young Master Huang has a backer in the provincial government; this is a monstrous lie."

Wan Ming's eyes lit up.

What strategy, what attacking the mind!

What attacking the mind, what not!

To put it plainly, Section Chief Tang is planning to "spread rumors"!
