Chapter 232: Caught by Secretary An's Show!

~8 min read 1,481 words

The place where Wan Ming and Tang Ye met was located in the most prosperous core area of Hanzhou, adjacent to the bar street.

Every time night fell, this place became a gathering spot for luxury cars.

It was still early; it is said that by one or two in the morning, one could "pick up corpses" here.

After parting ways with Wan Ming, Tang Ye stood by the street waiting for a taxi.

Suddenly, a young woman supporting a heavily intoxicated middle-aged man walked toward him.

The man looked to be in his forties or fifties, while the woman was only in her twenties, dressed in a pure white shirt and a long skirt, wearing a small black crossbody bag, her long, jet-black hair draped softly over her shoulders.

Tang Ye looked closely and discovered the woman was An Xin.

And a few days ago, at Chayue Restaurant, he had also seen the middle-aged man she was supporting.

An Xin had not noticed Tang Ye's presence.

She reached out, rummaged through the middle-aged man's pockets, and pulled out a set of car keys.

With two crisp "beep-beep" sounds, a white Toyota SUV in the parking lot flashed its lights.

"So it was this car; it's way too big, and she said she'd give it to me, but I'm not used to driving this," An Xin muttered softly to herself.

Tang Ye was slightly stunned; he hadn't expected that after not seeing her for a few days, the relationship between An Xin and this middle-aged man had developed with such unusual speed.

This old man was quite wealthy to just casually give away such an expensive SUV!

The middle-aged man had drunk quite a lot; even from over ten meters away, Tang Ye could faintly smell the pungent odor of alcohol.

An Xin opened the back door, and just then, the middle-aged man reacted violently, a "gurgle" sound coming from his throat, followed by him vomiting all the contents of his stomach at once.

An Xin couldn't dodge in time, and her knees down were covered in the foul-smelling, acidic vomit.

She froze in place, looking at the middle-aged man at a loss, her face filled with despair.

Tang Ye watched this scene from the shadows, and for some reason, a trace of inexplicable satisfaction welled up in his heart.

An Xin tried to help the middle-aged man up, but his body was limp and powerless; as soon as he was lifted, he slumped back down.

After a few attempts, An Xin collapsed, holding her head, and squatted on the ground.

Finally!

Tang Ye still couldn't hold back.

He walked out from the shadows, "Do you need help?"

An Xin looked as if she had seen a savior, "Tang Ye, why are you here? That's great, hurry and give me a hand."

Tang Ye sighed inwardly, walked to An Xin's side, and draped the man's arm over his own shoulder.

The man seemed to have regained a sliver of consciousness at this moment and mumbled, "Kid, who are you?"

Tang Ye said irritably, "If you've had too much to drink, say less."

The man frowned and said with dissatisfaction, "Why is this young man speaking so sharply!"

Tang Ye snorted coldly and responded without any courtesy, "I speak human language to humans, and ghost language to ghosts."

An Xin wondered to herself; Tang Ye's temper was usually gentle, so what was wrong with him today? His mood was very off!

The man felt uncomfortable and sat in the back seat, shouting that he was thirsty.

An Xin hurriedly handed the keys to Tang Ye and said, "I'll take care of him in the back row."

Tang Ye gave An Xin an annoyed look, "What is that supposed to mean?"

An Xin took back the car keys, "I'll drive instead! Please accompany me to take him to the hotel. I really can't move him by myself."

Tang Ye looked at An Xin's pitiful appearance and sighed helplessly, "I'll take care of this old comrade!"

An Xin started the car.

Tang Ye opened a bottle of mineral water and poured it into the man's mouth.

The man choked and coughed repeatedly, but because he was so drunk, he could only let Tang Ye handle him.

After the car had been driving for a while, the stifled anger in Tang Ye's heart gradually dissipated, and he began to think from a different perspective.

Everyone has their own way of living.

Nowadays, some young girls choosing to "date old men," isn't it just a form of helplessness?

In the eyes of others, his own relationship with Du Xi was actually also taking a shortcut.

Seeing that the man was quite uncomfortable, Tang Ye took the initiative to massage him to help sober him up.

There were a few acupoints that helped with sobering up.

For example, the Zhongwan acupoint could improve symptoms caused by drunkenness such as nausea, abdominal bloating and pain, and acid reflux;

The Ganshu acupoint could promote blood circulation in the liver and assist in alcohol metabolism.

The man felt much more comfortable and looked at Tang Ye in a daze, "I know you."

Tang Ye laughed dumbly, "I don't know you, and I don't want to know you, don't try to get close to me."

The man laughed dumbly and said, "You kid, you have quite a personality. Do you know who I am?"

Tang Ye glanced at An Xin, "I know. You are An Xin's boyfriend, her old sweetheart."

The man was stunned for a long while before he reacted, and said with a bitter smile, "What nonsense are you spouting, kid! I'm her dad."

Tang Ye's eyes widened instantly, and he looked at the middle-aged man in disbelief.

At this moment, An Xin, who had been holding it in, could no longer contain herself and burst into laughter, "Hahaha, Dad, Tang Ye isn't actually wrong; aren't you my 'old sweetheart'?"

Tang Ye was so embarrassed he wished he could dig a hole in the ground to hide, and he hurriedly apologized:

"I'm sorry, Uncle, I misunderstood. I've known An Xin for a while, and I've never heard her mention having relatives in Hanzhou, so I didn't react in time. Now that I look closely, you two really do look alike, especially the eyes and nose; it's like you were cut from the same mold."

The man couldn't help but laugh, "You kid react quite fast. I've heard An Xin mention you; before, when she was sick and lost her wallet, you ran around taking care of her and even helped pay the medical bills."

"Heh, that was just what I should have done," Tang Ye scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"No, it is easy to add flowers to a brocade, but difficult to provide charcoal in snowy weather. You are a young man with a strong sense of justice, and I admire you."

An Xin drove intently, thinking to herself that her father really had drunk too much today; when he was sober, he didn't usually talk this much.

Arriving at the hotel, Tang Ye helped An Guohao into the room before taking his leave.

Just as he reached the elevator, An Xin chased after him from the room.

"My dad asked me to see you off."

"No need. Your uncle has had a bit too much to drink; you should stay."

An Xin smiled and explained, "He feels much better now; with me around, he actually feels uncomfortable."

"Fine then. Just see me to the lobby."

"What? Is Section Chief Tang afraid of being misunderstood?" An Xin teased with a smile.

"It's mainly because your car has such a strong smell," Tang Ye replied, half-jokingly.

An Xin shook her head with a helpless, bitter smile; this person Tang Ye could always "provoke" her with his words.

However, she happened to like Tang Ye's casual and relaxed nature.

The two stood by the side of the road, waiting for a taxi.

Tang Ye asked softly, "Your father's name is An Guohao, right?"

An Xin nodded and asked curiously, "How did you recognize him?"

Tang Ye smiled and explained, "I had a brief encounter with him at Chayue Restaurant last time, and I looked up his information afterward, but I just never connected you to him. Who would have thought that a billionaire's daughter would be so down on her luck?"

A mischievous look flashed in An Xin's eyes, and she couldn't help but laugh, "I really didn't mean to deceive you; it's just that I never found a suitable opportunity to explain it to you."

Tang Ye complained to himself!

He was truly impressed by Secretary An's Cinderella act!

He let out a heavy sigh and feigned regret, "Secretary An—no, President An, I really had eyes but failed to recognize Mount Tai. I am ashamed, truly ashamed!"
