Chapter 315: The Person in Charge of Secretary Section Two!
At noon, Tang Ye ate at the agency cafeteria. Although the food tasted average, it was clean and hygienic, and the ingredients were of good quality. After the meal, he strolled along the garden path outside the cafeteria. The late autumn breeze brushed past, and as he stepped on the fallen leaves covering the ground, the fatigue from work gradually eased.
In the afternoon, Jiang Jing went to Building No. 1 of the Municipal Party Committee to report on recent work progress to Zhou Chengwu, and mentioned the issues regarding Hanxing Group.
Near dusk, Tang Ye suddenly received a notification that he needed to organize a dialogue with worker representatives from Hanxing Group.
Secretariat Section Two immediately entered a state of tension. Tang Ye and his colleagues worked overtime together, and it was not until nine in the evening that the busy work finally came to a temporary pause.
After getting off work, Tang Ye invited everyone in the section for a late-night snack at a restaurant near the Government.
The Discipline Inspection Commission kept a tight grip on the section's "small treasury," so Tang Ye intended to pay for this meal out of his own pocket.
Tang Ye thought to himself that this was a perfect opportunity to fulfill the promise he had made when his previous article was published in *Qiushi* magazine.
When it came time to pay, Tang Ye called the owner over, but the owner indicated that the meal had already been paid for in advance.
Tang Ye was just about to ask who it was.
At this moment, Zhan Shiqi walked over and said with a grin, "Section Chief Tang, a friend of mine happened to see us eating here and paid the bill for us. Don't feel pressured."
Tang Ye was stunned for a moment, then laughed and said, "You old Zhan, launching a sneak attack to snatch my bill—that's not right!"
Zhan Shiqi scratched his head, "Section Chief Tang, you have to give us a chance to show our appreciation. The manuscript fee hasn't arrived yet; once it does, we'll treat you again."
Tang Ye did not dwell on it further and patted Zhan Shiqi on the shoulder, "Fine, don't pull these little stunts next time."
Zhan Shiqi knew Tang Ye's financial background; he was not short of the money for this meal.
Moreover, given Tang Ye's current status and momentum, others would scramble to curry favor with him if he were willing.
However, Tang Ye lived by principles and left no handles for others to grab regarding economic issues.
But, as for his personal life...
It seemed a scandal had spread involving a female host from the City Television Station and Wen Rong's best friend.
Although Zhan Shiqi knew Tang Ye well enough to know he wouldn't do something that would give people grounds for gossip, he was still a bit curious.
However, after eating just now, he had finally figured it all out.
It turned out someone had been pulling strings in the dark and had taken the matter to Lin Ru.
In the end, it was declared over when Mayor Jiang stepped in and criticized Lin Ru for chasing shadows.
From this small detail, Zhan Shiqi realized that while Secretariat Section Two might have been influenced by Lin Ru in the past,
Tang Ye now completely controlled Secretariat Section Two, and his authority was not to be challenged.
Tang Ye had always been very tolerant toward Zhan Shiqi.
Any department must have a degree of tolerance.
Although Zhan Shiqi was usually lackadaisical, he could step up and deal with outside departments at critical moments.
This was something Wen Rong lacked.
Wen Rong proactively offered to give Tang Ye a ride home on the way.
Tang Ye felt it was indeed on the way, so he gladly accepted.
Wen Rong came from a well-off family; her parents had purchased a cozy residence for her, and she had also added an exquisite car for commuting.
Once seated inside the car, a delicate fragrance wafted over. The soft interior lighting and soothing music allowed Tang Ye's nerves, which had been taut all day, to gradually relax.
Wen Rong favored songs by Stefanie Sun and hummed along unconsciously; her sweet voice added a touch of comfort to the journey home.
"Section Chief Tang, do you have any plans to buy a car yourself?" Wen Rong held the steering wheel and broke the silence first.
Tang Ye was slightly taken aback, then smiled: "I don't have a use for one for the time being. Following Mayor Jiang every day, there really aren't many opportunities to use a car."
Wen Rong sighed softly: "That's true, unlike me—I regretted it the day after I bought the car."
Tang Ye shook his head upon hearing this, his gaze sweeping over the carefully arranged decorations and small items inside the car: "That doesn't sound like your honest opinion. Look at how cozy you've made the car; you've put quite a lot of heart into it."
Two shallow dimples appeared on Wen Rong's cheeks: "I just love fussing over things."
Tang Ye teased: "Isn't it just because you don't have a boyfriend? Once you start dating, I'm afraid you won't have the leisure to tinker with these things."
Wen Rong's smile froze instantly, her tone carrying a hint of self-deprecation: "I don't intend to date for the rest of my life."
Tang Ye understood in his heart.
Wen Rong had once had a deeply unforgettable relationship in college. Just as they were nearing marriage, her boyfriend suddenly left without a word, leaving her with wounds that were hard to heal.
"Don't speak so definitively; perhaps one day you'll turn a corner, meet the right person, and your thoughts will change," he comforted her gently.
"I'll take your word for it," Wen Rong responded softly, though a ripple stirred in her heart.
This conversation along the way surprised even Wen Rong herself.
On ordinary days, Tang Ye was swift and decisive in his work, with nearly strict requirements for details, which always made her feel immense pressure.
But sitting in the car at this moment, his tone was gentle, and his words revealed sincerity; he was a completely different person.
"I heard from Ding Xiang that you've accepted her as a younger sister?" Wen Rong asked tentatively.
Tang Ye laughed in spite of himself: "You two really are best friends who talk about everything; nothing can be hidden from you. You haven't complained about me much in front of her, have you?"
Wen Rong's heart rate accelerated inexplicably. After pondering for a moment, she smiled brightly and said candidly: "When we first started working together, I thought you were too serious and your requirements for me were too high, so I inevitably had some grievances. But over the past half year, I've adapted to your work rhythm and clearly felt my own abilities improve quite a bit."
Tang Ye had only been probing casually.
He hadn't expected Wen Rong to speak her mind without reservation.
He felt gratified and remarked: "It's best that you think so. There was actually another reason I intentionally kept my distance from you at the beginning. Female comrades handle problems with more delicacy and sensitivity; I was worried that being too gentle would cause unnecessary misunderstandings. Now that we are familiar with each other, some things can indeed be spoken of openly."
These words were like a beam of light shining into Wen Rong's heart; those long-accumulated grievances and misunderstandings vanished in an instant.
She couldn't help but exclaim: "I thought you always felt my abilities weren't up to par!"
Tang Ye waved his hands quickly and said earnestly: "Don't ever think that. The entire Secretariat Section Two might be able to function without me, but it couldn't without you. Everyone has their own value. Although old Zhan likes to clown around, he is reliable at critical moments; the two newcomers are also growing quickly. I'm usually busy with Mayor Jiang, and it's thanks to you leading the team that our coordination is perfect."
Hearing such high praise, Wen Rong's eyes instantly turned red.
Tang Ye feigned surprise: "What? Moved to tears?"
"No! A bug flew into my eye."
Wen Rong hurriedly denied it, turned her face away, and wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Tang Ye smiled knowingly, not exposing her.
He pondered to himself that Wen Rong was not difficult to communicate with.
In the future, he would need to encourage and cheer her on at the right moments!
Previously, he had provided emotional value to Lin Ru without receiving any return.
He would just consider it as having raised an ungrateful wretch!
By comparison, providing emotional value to Wen Rong was much more meaningful!
