Chapter 388: The Case of Judicial Extermination!
After getting off work, Tang Ye drove to Wan Ming's residence.
After Wan Ming was transferred to the Suiyuan County Public Security Bureau, the bureau rented a two-bedroom apartment for him near the office, originally intending to make it convenient for his wife to come and reunite with him.
However, because his daughter needed someone to accompany her while studying in Tianling County, his wife spent most of her time there, and Wan Ming ended up living alone.
Wan Ming had already prepared a few side dishes for drinking.
Tang Ye brought over a bottle of white liquor.
"Old Wan, you haven't even tidied up this place; smelly socks are thrown everywhere, it's too filthy."
"Heh, what time do us big men have to tidy up! By the way, has the Government found you a place to stay? Why not rent in this residential complex? It's not far from the County Government."
"I can consider it. Although the hotel has staff to clean every day, it's still not as comfortable as a residential area."
The two sat around the dining table, clinking glasses and chatting, and eventually, the conversation turned to the Jiawei Chemical case.
Wan Ming pulled a document out of his briefcase and said, "The boss of Jiawei Chemical is named Jiang Jianming, and he was quite well-known in the chemical industry in his early years. Eight years ago, he responded to the investment promotion policy and came to Suiyuan, where he once thrived and was a registered private entrepreneur in the city. But ever since Han Guangyao took office a year ago, he has repeatedly inspected the factory under the pretext of environmental rectification. The enterprise cooperated, but there were always unruly people causing trouble, picking faults and making things difficult every time. Just as Jiang Jianming was trying to grit his teeth and persist, his bank loan matured, and they pressured him for repayment. Once his capital chain broke, the factory was directly auctioned off by the court."
Hearing this, Tang Ye's expression turned grave: "How is Jiang Jianming now?"
"After realizing he had been set up, he never stopped looking for a lawyer. But local lawyers are either afraid of offending people or have taken bribes; not one is willing to take this case. Now he has hired an out-of-town lawyer and met with her just yesterday." Wan Ming paused and added, "I have her information here. Her surname is Lin; she is a female lawyer, decent-looking, but too young and lacks seasoning. If it were an experienced lawyer, they would avoid such a hot potato, because not only is the case difficult to handle, but if things go wrong, one might end up covered in filth."
Tang Ye took the photo Wan Ming handed him, his pupils suddenly contracting: "It's actually her!"
"You know her?"
"I've dealt with her once." Tang Ye recalled the past, "Do you remember Teacher Chen Chao from Pinghu Town? He was wrongly accused and sentenced at the time, and Lawyer Lin provided him with free legal aid."
Wan Ming suddenly realized: "Teacher Chen's student?"
"Yes, this young Lawyer Lin has quite a bit of courage." Tang Ye put down the photo, "You need to arrange for people to protect her in secret. I suspect Cao Jin will play dirty."
Wan Ming tossed a peanut into his mouth, his tone deepening: "Speaking of playing dirty, Cao Jin is absolutely the scum of the legal profession. I found out something—he handled a case of 'judicial extermination' many years ago."
"'Judicial extermination'?" Tang Ye raised an eyebrow, "That's a fresh term."
"Back then, Cao Jin was dating a girl for several years. The girl wanted to get married, but he refused. The girl threatened him with private information about them being together. As a result, Cao Jin set a trap, deliberately making the girl think she could use pregnancy as a bargaining chip to blackmail him, and then turned around and sent the girl's entire family to prison on charges of extortion. Except for the girl's parents, he didn't even spare her best friend. However, that best friend managed to get out unscathed later."
Tang Ye instantly understood the crux of the matter: "Cao Jin used that best friend as a pawn to incite the girl to commit extortion? This guy is sinister enough!"
"That girl's best friend is named Ling Yi. She transferred from the Engineering Institute to the Law School in her sophomore year, and after graduation, she joined Cao Jin's law firm. Several years have passed, and now she is a senior partner at the firm. However, Cao Jin used her as a bargaining chip, and she is very close to Liao Guosheng." Wan Ming took a sip of liquor, "I always felt Cao Jin was cowardly when dealing with him before, but now it seems I underestimated him."
Tang Ye looked at the night outside the window, recalling their previous confrontations. Cao Jin always seemed to retreat three steps, but in reality, he was calculating every move.
He suddenly remembered the old saying—a barking dog doesn't bite, and a biting dog doesn't bark.
Clearly, Cao Jin was the latter.
This "vicious dog" lurking in the shadows of the law was likely more dangerous than imagined.
On the first day Lin Qing arrived in Suiyuan County, she sensed that this case was extraordinary.
In her hotel room, the phone rang every half hour, but there was only silence when she answered.
Her assistant, Xiao Zhang, who was by her side, could not escape the harassment either. The dark circles under his eyes revealed his exhaustion: "Sister Lin, I finally understand why Teacher Luo said 'outsiders shouldn't take local lawsuits.' The water here is too deep."
Lin Qing looked at the young junior, her tone steady: "If you want to make money, you have to go with the flow; but if you want to realize your ambitions, you must dare to touch these deep-seated industry ills."
"The deadline is in two days. If the investigation order still doesn't come down, this case will have been followed in vain. That Jiang Jianming clearly can't afford the legal fees." Xiao Zhang was worried, "Sister, do we have any breakthrough?"
"Take it one step at a time." Lin Qing frowned, "We'll go to the court this afternoon. If they continue to shirk responsibility like this, we'll have no choice but to bite the bullet and tear off the mask."
At the entrance of the court, Jiang Jianming was wearing a washed-out jacket, having long since lost the air of a well-known entrepreneur from Hanzhou.
The three walked into the lobby to explain their purpose, and a moment later, a middle-aged man received them with a blank expression.
Lin Qing handed over her business card: "Comrade, I am Jiang Jianming's acting lawyer. We applied for an investigation order more than ten days ago; how is the progress now?"
"Little Lin," the man threw the business card on the table casually, his tone flat, "The lawyer's investigation order probably won't be approved."
"May I ask why?"
"No comment." The man pulled a perfunctory, helpless expression at the corner of his mouth, "The auction process for Jiawei Chemical was compliant. Applying for an investigation order at this time is a waste of public resources. I advise you not to waste your effort."
Lin Qing stared at his shifty eyes and suddenly realized he was just a "mouthpiece" sent out to deal with them.
The Suiyuan County Court had no intention of solving the problem at all; the resistance to this case was far beyond imagination.
After Lin Qing left, the man sighed. Someone had already put in a word about this case. Relying on this vase-like lawyer to solve it was nothing short of a pipe dream.
"Jiang Jianming and his lawyer have been sent away."
"Thank you for your hard work. Next, they will learn that when you try to pull out a nail and can't, you might just scrape off a layer of skin."
The three turned to leave in frustration. Just as they stepped out of the gate, a van suddenly rushed out from the corner.
Several burly men jumped out of the car. Jiang Jianming tried to resist but was knocked unconscious with a single punch.
Although Lin Qing and Xiao Zhang struggled, they were ultimately outnumbered and were forcibly dragged into the van.
In the chaos, Lin Qing caught a glimpse of a shovel and a black cloth bag inside the van.
She heard one person report into the phone: "The people have been controlled. Find a desolate wilderness to finish them off, bag them, and bury them. I guarantee no one will find out."
