Chapter 419: Chairman Yang Regrets His Past Actions!
After entering the room, the woman noticed that Tang Ye had deliberately left the outer door slightly ajar, pulling only the security screen door shut without even engaging the latch.
She took off her shoes, did not put on slippers, and walked barefoot on the tiles; as her soles touched the tiles, they left behind a series of water prints that quickly vanished due to evaporation.
Tang Ye poured the woman a cup of tea.
The woman thanked him softly, "I'm really sorry, bothering you so late. Do you live alone?"
Tang Ye smiled, noncommittal, and asked in return, "What about you? Do you live alone?"
The woman brushed a stray lock of hair from her temple, "I share this place with a female colleague from my company; she went away on a business trip tonight. By the way, you still haven't answered my question!"
Tang Ye gave a faint smile, "I live alone for now, but that might not be the case in the future."
The woman secretly thought that Tang Ye only said half of what he meant, making things mysterious and not particularly straightforward.
But then she thought, it was reasonable for the other party to maintain a certain level of vigilance since they were meeting for the first time.
Outside the door, there was movement in the elevator lobby; Tang Ye knew Wan Ming had brought someone, so he stood up and walked over, "The locksmith is here!"
Seeing Tang Ye, Wan Ming glanced inside, a look of surprise appearing in his eyes, "And this is?"
Tang Ye explained in a flat tone, "The neighbor from across the hall!"
Wan Ming gave his subordinate a look; the subordinate was a professional, pulling a key from his bag and inserting it into the keyhole, and with a light "click" from the lock cylinder, the door opened.
The woman was dumbfounded by this scene.
Tang Ye explained to the female neighbor, "Don't worry, this is a professional who is registered with the Police and has a locksmith's license."
A look of gratitude appeared on the woman's face, "Thank you so much for tonight; if it weren't for you, I would have been left out on the street."
"It's nothing, neighbors should look out for each other. Get some rest early!"
"Alright, you get some rest too."
Tang Ye watched her walk into her home, then turned and handed Wan Ming a cigarette.
Wan Ming smiled as he took the cigarette, held it to his nose to smell it, and said, "County Magistrate Tang, I have to say, your luck with women is too strong; you just rent a place, and the neighbor across the hall is a young and beautiful woman."
Tang Ye laughed in spite of himself, "Captain Wan, please don't tease me; I am a married man, after all. How about I file an application with the Government Office and we swap places? I'll give this luck with women to you!"
"I don't have that kind of fortune." Wan Ming laughed until his shoulders shook, "My wife comes over once a week; if she knew a great beauty lived across the hall, I'm afraid she'd be checking up on me every day."
Tang Ye shrugged, "Feelings between men and women cannot be monitored; it depends on whether one's own heart is strong enough."
Wan Ming nodded slightly, "The matter is finished, and it's getting late, so I'll take my leave."
"Sorry to have you run over in the middle of the night."
"Hey, I've been quite free lately, no cases, just call me whenever you need anything."
Tang Ye saw Wan Ming to the door.
Returning inside the room, a look of gravity appeared in his eyes.
Having a stunning neighbor living next door was not a temptation for Tang Ye.
On the contrary!
It was a warning.
The female neighbor definitely had issues, and he couldn't figure out her background for the time being.
To avoid alerting the enemy, Tang Ye decided to play it by ear and not expose her for now.
……
The next morning, after Tang Ye finished signing several documents in his office, he drove to the Suiyuan Industrial Park.
He was there to supervise the implementation of the environmental rectification project on-site.
In the park, machines were roaring, a sprinkler truck was working along the main road, and the newly planted street trees were stretching their branches in the morning mist.
Half an hour later, Tang Ye received a call from Gao Hong.
"County Magistrate Gao, is there something up?"
Gao Hong said softly, "A business delegation has come from the province, wanting to understand the settlement policies of the Suiyuan Industrial Park; they are on their way from the city, you need to step forward and host them!"
Tang Ye always maintained a positive attitude toward such matters and never felt it was a bother, "I'll head back to the County Government immediately."
As the reputation of the Suiyuan Industrial Park spread, the number of business delegations coming to inspect it also increased.
Gao Hong did not particularly like attending these types of reception activities.
But Tang Ye felt that these reception activities sometimes hid business opportunities.
Tang Ye waited downstairs at the County Government for half an hour before a bus drove into the courtyard; a group of people stepped out, and the person leading them was none other than Tang Ye's old acquaintance, Yang Yuan.
Since failing to compete with Du Chengfeng for the position of Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee, Yang Yuan had been transferred to the Municipal CPPCC to serve as Vice Chairman, also a Deputy Department-level Official position.
After shaking hands with Gao Hong, Yang Yuan walked straight toward Tang Ye and said with a smile, "Little Tang, long time no see!"
Gao Hong looked at Yang Yuan in surprise, "Is Chairman Yang very familiar with County Magistrate Tang?"
Yang Yuan held Tang Ye's hand, patting the back of it as they walked, and said with a smile, "That's where you don't know the full story. Little Tang was once my subordinate, and I have always paid close attention to him. After he came to your Suiyuan, he adapted to the environment quickly and has done very well."
Gao Hong assumed that the relationship between Tang Ye and Yang Yuan was quite good and said with a smile, "Later, let Comrade Tang Ye give you and the business delegation representatives a good introduction to the situation and investment environment of the Suiyuan Industrial Park."
Yang Yuan smiled, "Sure, we also hope that through this inspection, we can inject fresh blood into Suiyuan; the members of today's inspection team are all very capable."
Tang Ye smiled calmly, "I will strive to let everyone understand the present and future of Suiyuan and hope that everyone can gain something."
Deep down, Yang Yuan's emotions toward Tang Ye were extremely complex.
He didn't actually have much of a grudge against Tang Ye; although there had been unpleasantness before, he wasn't the victim, so he had long since put it behind him.
Yang Yuan's hostility toward Tang Ye mainly stemmed from Du Chengfeng.
In Yang Yuan's view, Du Chengfeng had stolen his future.
Now Du Chengfeng was making solid progress with every step, while he himself had been put in the CPPCC to wait for retirement.
The disparity in the "weight of power" left Yang Yuan feeling incomparably depressed.
Tang Ye first gave a presentation on the situation of the Suiyuan Industrial Park to the business delegation in the conference room.
He had prepared a lot of materials previously to welcome the research team from the National Development and Reform Commission, such as promotional videos and PPTs, all of which were readily available.
Of course, when the National Development and Reform Commission came for research previously, Zhou Chengwu gave the presentation personally, and Tang Ye was not qualified to take the stage.
However, these materials all came from his hand, so Tang Ye spoke about them with ease.
Yang Yuan sat offstage, watching Tang Ye present with composure and no fear, feeling secretly astonished in his heart.
Compared to two years ago, Tang Ye had undergone a tremendous transformation.
He suddenly realized that his suppression of Tang Ye back then appeared far too rash and feeble.
With Tang Ye's personal ability, no matter how he was suppressed, he would always reveal his exceptional side.
Suddenly, Yang Yuan actually felt a strong sense of regret.
He should not have listened to the slander of Shao Jinbo back then and transferred Tang Ye to the Old Cadre Bureau, and he certainly should not have kicked him down to the township later!
For no reason at all, he had gained an enemy!
And he was even labeled with the charge of suppressing newcomers!
What was the point of all this?
