Chapter 467: The Couple Is Both Toxic!
Early morning.
Tang Ye went for his morning exercise as usual.
Ever since moving to Xiyue Garden, he had developed the habit of running 5.2 kilometers around the neighborhood.
Self-discipline leads to a better version of oneself!
Not long after leaving his home, he suddenly heard movement behind him; he turned to look and saw Xiao Hui wearing sportswear, following closely behind.
Tang Ye thought to himself that he owed Xiao Hui for her secret warning regarding the Shao Jinbo incident last time, so he subconsciously slowed his pace.
Xiao Hui had excellent proportions, a tall stature, and a curvaceous figure; one could not tell at all that she was nearing thirty years of age.
Her appearance had changed slightly since high school; though it no longer possessed the dewy tenderness of those years, it had gained a touch of mature charm.
"What a coincidence, are you running too?" In fact, Xiao Hui had been observing for quite some time.
Tang Ye stayed at Xiyue Garden every weekend and always went for a morning run, so this encounter today was something she had calculated.
Tang Ye nodded slightly: "You have the habit of running too?"
Xiao Hui nodded with a smile and began to talk nonsense, "Yes, I run about three days a week, though I prefer running in the evening. I always feel there are too few pedestrians on the road in the morning; it's not very safe."
Tang Ye agreed: "Girls really do need to be careful when running. By the way, I still have to thank you for what happened last time."
Xiao Hui's heart stirred, and she teased with a smile: "Just saying it with your mouth? That's not enough sincerity!"
Tang Ye laughed: "Then you make a request; how do you want me to thank you?"
Xiao Hui had wanted to be more direct, but then she feared scaring Tang Ye away, so she changed her words: "Buy me a drink of water later!"
Tang Ye readily agreed: "No problem."
Walking to the next intersection, Tang Ye caught sight of a small shop by the road and went over to buy two bottles of mineral water.
Xiao Hui took the water and unscrewed the cap, a warmth rising in her heart: "Tang Ye, I suddenly remembered high school. Once during the sports meet, I ran the eight-hundred-meter race, and you accompanied me on the inner lane the whole way, cheering for me non-stop. When I used all my strength to cross the finish line, you were the first to hand me a bottle of mineral water. I was especially moved at the time."
That memory surfaced clearly in Tang Ye's mind; he tilted his head back to take a sip of water and teased: "I wasn't the only one accompanying you that time. I remember you didn't drink the water I handed you, but instead took one from another classmate." He thought to himself that Xiao Hui really knew how to bring up painful subjects.
Thinking back carefully, he had clearly been a total "lickspittle" in high school.
To Xiao Hui, this memory was full of happiness and sweetness;
But to Tang Ye, it was an unbearable past.
At this moment, he wished he could make Xiao Hui disappear from his sight immediately.
Good upbringing forced him to suppress his emotions.
Xiao Hui looked at him in surprise: "You actually remember it so clearly?"
Tang Ye forced a smile: "Yes, that time was quite a setback for me. But I also have to thank you; if it weren't for you giving me motivation, I might not have worked so hard."
Xiao Hui's eyes reddened slightly, and she said softly: "Tang Ye, I've thought about it carefully later; I really didn't know how to judge people back then. I should have cherished you... Actually, I regret it."
Tang Ye interrupted her quickly: "We are both already married; it's better not to say things that cross the line, otherwise we won't even be able to be friends. Let's each live our own lives well, keep the beautiful memories in our hearts, and forget the painful ones, okay?"
A trace of sorrow flashed through Xiao Hui's eyes, and she smiled bitterly: "You really are cold-hearted."
Tang Ye looked at her in astonishment: "Xiao Hui, we are both public servants and each have our own families. I am grateful for your help before, but please don't misunderstand. I have things to do, I'm leaving first."
As soon as he finished speaking, he took off running.
Tang Ye deliberately increased his cadence and speed; about half an hour later, confirming he had left Xiao Hui far behind, he leaned against a large tree to stop, gasping for air.
He muttered to himself: That couple, Shao Jinbo and Xiao Hui, are truly bizarre!
One racks his brains to frame him, and the other goes to great lengths to seduce him.
The couple is both toxic!
As for Xiao Hui, who had been left behind, although she felt a stabbing pain in her heart, she was not overly saddened by Tang Ye's actions.
On the contrary, today's conversation gave her a glimmer of comfort: so the harm she caused Tang Ye in high school was that deep; now that he dared not face her, it was merely because he still had lingering fears.
As long as she continued to take the initiative to show goodwill, he would one day understand her intentions.
She knew this behavior was inappropriate, yet she found it hard to restrain the desires in her heart.
The colder Tang Ye was, the less she could let go.
After all, since she was young, Xiao Hui had been a person with a very strong sense of purpose.
Returning to his residence, Tang Ye had just pushed the door open when he saw Du Xi walking out, rubbing her sleepy eyes.
Du Xi glanced at the wall clock and said strangely, "You came back half an hour earlier than usual today."
Tang Ye laughed, "I met a dog on the road that chased me for several streets. I tried every way to shake it off but couldn't, so I had to head back home."
Du Xi knew Tang Ye was talking nonsense, "You, your energy is too abundant. You went to bed so late, yet you're full of vigor this morning."
Tang Ye smiled, "Besides IQ and EQ, the body is actually very important in determining the upper limit of one's life. Anyone who can achieve results in a certain industry has a good body, because it requires investing a large amount of time and energy."
Du Xi nodded slightly, "You are definitely someone who can do great things. I'm not like that; once it's the weekend, I don't want to leave the bed."
Tang Ye said with a smile, "You were exhausted yesterday, get some good rest; sleep until noon, and I'll make lunch and call you to get up."
Du Xi leaned close to Tang Ye and stood on her tiptoes to kiss his face, "My husband is so good."
Officer Rabbit provided plenty of emotional value.
Tang Ye hummed a tune and turned to walk into the bathroom to shower.
After showering, he went to the nearby vegetable market to buy groceries.
Tang Ye discovered that pork prices had risen recently and thought to himself that there was a trend of inflation.
Returning to his residence, Tang Ye discovered a familiar figure standing downstairs.
He quickly called out, "Guo?"
Guo Liang turned around and looked toward Tang Ye, joy appearing in his eyes, "Old Leader, that's great, I was at my wit's end and didn't expect to run into you."
"What's going on?" Tang Ye looked at Guo Liang curiously.
"Isn't the Mid-Autumn Festival coming up soon? The hairy crabs in Pinghu are especially plump this year, so I brought some for you. However, I got the address wrong. I just went to one house to ring the doorbell and got chased out."
Tang Ye looked at Guo Liang in surprise, secretly thinking that Guo Liang shouldn't be making such a foolish mistake, "Is it the seventh floor of this building?"
Guo Liang nodded slightly, "That's right, the door didn't even open, and they just said I had the wrong person."
Tang Ye said, "That is because you didn't tell me beforehand, and you were still carrying things in your hands, so Du Xi gave you the cold shoulder directly."
Guo Liang couldn't help but laugh, "So that's how it is. Old leader, you are still as incorruptible as ever, which makes me particularly admire you."
Tang Ye patted Guo Liang on the shoulder, "Stop that with me, hurry up and go up."
Guo Liang said with a smile, "I'll leave the hairy crabs with you, I won't go up."
Tang Ye grabbed Guo Liang's arm and said in a commanding tone, "That won't do. You've come such a long way, I can't let you leave so easily. You aren't allowed to leave until you've finished lunch!"
