Chapter 788: Evacuate to the Safe Zone!

Ma Wu hurriedly seized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Hawking one's own wares, recommending oneself...

"County Magistrate Tang, I heard you previously helped Shitou Village secure a project; there's an incredibly wealthy boss who wants to build a club in their village and invest over ten million."

"Actually, our village isn't bad either; there are many varieties of animals on the mountain, wild boars and goats, we have everything!"

This is an emergency!

Ma Wu was still thinking about having the village find a path to prosperity!

However, Tang Ye still spoke in a gentle tone, patiently explaining!

"It is true that an international hunting club is to be built over at Shitou Village, but the procedures are quite complex; it requires stable wildlife resources, the capability for safety management, and approval from the provincial forestry department. I'm afraid your village might not be suitable..."

"I heard you also secured road repair funds for Shanyang Village. You've seen it yourself, this road in our village is extremely difficult to travel on whenever it rains!"

"Ma Ran, make a note of this issue. The county will continue to promote the construction of village-connecting roads over the next few years to gradually resolve this problem."

Facing the Branch Secretary's reasonable request, Tang Ye gave a promise on the spot.

A smile appeared on the Branch Secretary's wrinkled face.

"County Magistrate Tang, I thank you on behalf of all the villagers! By the way, I heard you came to inspect our village, and everyone wants to see you!"

Tang Ye responded with a smile: "Thank you all for your kind intentions; I have felt them all. Please rest assured, as long as we pull together and work as one, our lives will definitely get better and better!"

Tang Ye used the fluent Dayu dialect to communicate with the Branch Secretary without any barriers, and Shen Yuping felt a great deal of respect for him in her heart.

For officials from other places serving in a locality, the hardest hurdle to overcome is often the language barrier.

Tang Ye had mastered the local tongue in just a few months.

Furthermore, he was tall and sturdy; if one said he was a native of Shaanzhou, others would not doubt it.

At this moment, Ma Ran quietly leaned into Tang Ye's ear and whispered: "Director Chu has arrived with the Geological Disaster Expert."

Tang Ye stood up immediately: "Let's go, let's go see them together and hear what the expert has to say!"

Chu Weiming saw Tang Ye from afar.

He hurriedly led the Geological Disaster Expert beside him to meet him.

"County Magistrate Tang, this is Dr. Gao Xiang from the Provincial Geological University, and he is also a well-known Geological Disaster Expert within our province."

"Dr. Gao, thank you for braving the rain to make this trip." Tang Ye took the initiative to reach out and greet him.

Gao Xiang was about fifty years old, under 1.7 meters tall, with a lean build and bright, spirited eyes.

"Let's skip the pleasantries; I'm going up the mountain to check the situation!"

"Dr. Gao, I will go with you." Tang Ye said immediately.

Shen Yuping said, "I'm going too!"

Tang Ye frowned and advised, "County Magistrate Shen, why don't you stay behind? If we need to evacuate the villagers, someone will need to preside over the work, right?"

Shen Yuping insisted, "No, I am going up the mountain with you."

Seeing Shen Yuping's repeated insistence, Tang Ye did not continue to block her.

Given Shen Yuping's personality, if he did not agree, she would instead think he was biased!

Gao Xiang was somewhat surprised by Tang Ye's attitude.

He had dealt with many government officials, and it was truly rare to see someone like Tang Ye who was so decisive and willing to brave the rain to go to the scene in person.

Ma Ran was left behind to help Qiao Lin coordinate the evacuation.

He watched Tang Ye's figure disappear into the curtain of rain, feeling a sense of loss in his heart.

Braving the heavy rain, the group arrived at the road section where the abnormality had been discovered earlier.

"Dr. Gao, compared to just a moment ago, there are many more rocks here."

Tang Ye said, pointing at the road surface.

Gao Xiang's expression became grave, and he did not respond immediately.

As a professional Geological Disaster Expert, he had his own survey procedures.

Tang Ye's conclusion could only serve as a reference. He took out the tools he carried with him, collected soil samples, and then walked up the mountain for a long time.

From time to time, he would squat down to observe the looseness of the soil and the water seepage.

Because the road was slippery, Chu Weiming took a tumble and secretly complained to himself;

Tang Ye stayed close to Gao Xiang the entire time, occasionally helping to pass tools or lend a hand.

About an hour later, they reached the mountainside.

Gao Xiang finally reached a conclusion and said in an extremely serious tone:

"County Magistrate Tang, according to my survey and calculations, the probability of a large-scale mudslide on this hillside is as high as ninety-five percent, and the coverage area is very wide; the village at the foot of the mountain is exactly within the disaster impact zone."

Tang Ye gasped sharply and pressed, "Then how much time is left before the disaster might occur?"

"Calculated according to the current rainfall, there is about two hours left. If the rain intensifies, this time will be shortened."

Chu Weiming felt his scalp tingle at this moment.

Now with Gao Xiang's professional support, he finally realized how critical Tang Ye's "making a mountain out of a molehill" had been.

Tang Ye hurriedly took out his mobile phone.

He dialed Ji Shaoquan's number:

"Secretary Ji, the situation is extremely urgent! It must be handled immediately!"

"County Magistrate Tang, go ahead, I'm listening."

"According to the expert's risk assessment, at the current rainfall rate, the hillside may experience a landslide in about an hour, and then a mudslide will strike the village."

"Organize manpower immediately, communicate well with the villagers, hurry to evacuate the crowd, and move everyone to a safe area!"

"County Magistrate Tang, where are you right now?" Ji Shaoquan asked hurriedly.

"I am still on the mountain, and I am heading down right now."

"Good! I will take action immediately! You must also ensure your safety!"

After hanging up the phone, Ji Shaoquan immediately turned to Branch Secretary Ma, his tone serious: "Branch Secretary Ma, I just received a call from County Magistrate Tang. According to the Expert's assessment, a mudslide disaster will occur in forty minutes, and our village is a key disaster area!"

Branch Secretary Ma was completely stunned!

"Secretary, could the Expert have made a mistake?

Some experts just love to talk nonsense, fearing only that the world won't be in chaos.

Our village has been here for so many years, and we have never encountered such a large disaster. Even when there was an earthquake a few years ago, only one house collapsed!"

"Old Ma!

Now is not the time to be arguing!

The safety of the lives and property of the people must be placed first. Even if there is only a one in ten thousand risk, we must prioritize the safety of the common people's lives!

Please go and work on the villagers' thinking immediately, and have everyone evacuate to a safe area at once!

Even if the Expert's judgment turns out to be wrong in the end, we won't have lost anything;

but if the Expert is right, the consequences would be unimaginable!"

Branch Secretary Ma gritted his teeth and slapped his thigh hard.

"Fine! I'll listen to you! I will gather all the villagers right now and evacuate toward the safe area!"

Ji Shaoquan called over his Liaison Officer and issued an order:

"You must coordinate vehicles immediately to send the villagers to the town for resettlement.

You must get everyone to a safe zone in the shortest time possible!"

"Good! I'll go arrange it right now!"

Ji Shaoquan dared not shirk his responsibility at this moment.

With so many villagers, if he were to shirk responsibility or delay time, leading to casualties or major property losses,

what he would have to face would not be as simple as just being removed from his post.
