Chapter 874: Want Me to Take You for a Massage?

~8 min read 1,412 words

"What is it? Speak."

The relationship between Tang Ye and Xing Zhijun had already shifted from distant to familiar.

It couldn't be called a bond of absolute trust, but they acknowledged each other.

It was like being in the ambiguous stage of a romance.

"I have a childhood friend who wants to find a job," Xing Zhijun said with a smile.

Tang Ye realized what he meant, "Which department in the Government are you eyeing? Might as well say it straight."

Xing Zhijun thought to himself that Tang Ye was great in every way, except that his mind turned too fast. "The motor pool has an opening for a driver. This childhood friend of mine, although he hasn't read many books, has practiced martial arts since he was a child. His physical fitness is exceptional, and he also has a special skill with throwing knives."

"Throwing knives?" Tang Ye couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Sounds impressive. Fine, I'll have Ma Ran look into it later. If the position hasn't been filled yet, then arrange for him to come for an interview. The necessary procedures must be followed; at the very least, his driving skills have to be solid."

Xing Zhijun said with a smile, "Thank you so much."

Tang Ye waved his hand. "Why be so polite! However, there is one thing I've heard. It's said that you've arranged jobs for almost all the young people in your village, to the point that even the dogs at the village entrance have jobs. Is that true?"

Xing Zhijun was stunned for a moment, then gave an awkward laugh. "Hey, when I took the police academy entrance exam back then, it was the village that pooled money for my tuition. Now that I have a little ability, shouldn't I repay that favor? But please rest assured, my childhood friend has driven large semi-trucks; his driving skills are beyond reproach."

Tang Ye smiled. "You, you're cold on the outside but warm on the inside."

"Want to grab dinner together tonight?" Xing Zhijun invited.

"Sure, I'm free tonight." Tang Ye knew Xing Zhijun was afraid he would be lonely, which was why he took the initiative to invite him.

In the evening, Xing Zhijun waited for Tang Ye downstairs.

Tang Ye got into Xing Zhijun's car.

They found an inconspicuous little shop by the side of the road.

Xing Zhijun was very familiar with the shop owner, who took the initiative to send over two cold dishes.

After finishing the meal, seeing that it was still early, Xing Zhijun smiled and said, "Shall I take you for a massage?"

Tang Ye knew that the massage Xing Zhijun was talking about was naturally a proper massage, with nothing illicit about it.

"Sure, my shoulder area has been a bit uncomfortable lately. For people like us who sit in offices often, we do need a massage occasionally."

Xing Zhijun was very familiar with Dayu County. He led the way, driving with ease, and arrived at the entrance of a blind massage parlor tucked away in a street corner.

"Don't look at how run-down this shop is; the masters' massage techniques are truly excellent. Plus, the masters here are genuinely blind, so there's none of that messy stuff," Xing Zhijun explained to Tang Ye with a smile.

Tang Ye nodded and teased, "Your wife is so formidable, I assume you wouldn't dare to mess around anyway."

Xing Zhijun laughed heartily and walked inside with his arm around Tang Ye's shoulder.

The two entered a private room, lay down on two separate massage beds, and two blind massage masters began working on them.

Tang Ye could tell that both of them were truly blind.

Their techniques were quite good, precise in targeting the acupoints, and they would judge the customer's tolerance based on experience, adjusting their strength to the appropriate level.

Suddenly, Tang Ye was startled by a sharp cry from Xing Zhijun.

The massage master was working on the soles of Xing Zhijun's feet.

Xing Zhijun asked softly, "Master, what acupoint were you just pressing? Why does it hurt so much?"

The master replied truthfully, "This location is the Yongquan Point."

"They say the acupoints on the soles of the feet correspond to the body's internal organs. What does this acupoint control?" Xing Zhijun was taken aback, fearing something was wrong with him.

"Boss, this acupoint controls the kidneys. I'm afraid your kidneys aren't very good. Is there a stinging sensation?" the master said while pressing down.

Xing Zhijun only felt a piercing pain travel from the sole of his foot all the way to his kidneys, a feeling as if they were being crushed.

"Old Xing, how are you? Does it hurt a lot?"

"It doesn't hurt! Not at all!" Xing Zhijun gritted his teeth, pretending he felt nothing, but the beads of sweat the size of beans on his forehead betrayed him.

Tang Ye didn't call his bluff, secretly finding it amusing. Chinese men are like this—they want to be strong their whole lives and will never easily admit defeat.

After Xing Zhijun and Tang Ye finished their massage, they prepared to pay at the cashier.

Suddenly, several burly men walked in.

One of them sat directly on the chair in the waiting area, took a cigarette out of his pocket, lit it, and took a few puffs.

The person at the front desk of the blind massage parlor was a young girl in her early twenties; she wasn't particularly beautiful, but she looked extremely sharp.

"Sir, are you here for a massage?"

"Yeah, do you have female technicians? The kind with big chests and round butts!"

A flush appeared on the girl's face, and she said apologetically, "I'm sorry, sir, our shop is a strictly professional blind massage parlor. The massage therapists are all veteran masters who have undergone professional training."

Hu Ge grinned. "Are there any female blind massage technicians? I've tried young ones and old ones, but I haven't tried that type yet!"

The girl stammered, "I'm sorry, all the masters in our shop are men."

The lackey beside him said sarcastically, "Hu Ge, if a massage parlor doesn't have female technicians, is there even a point in staying open?"

Hu Ge looked the girl up and down, suddenly stood up, and grabbed her arm.

"Who says there are no women? Haha, isn't this one right here?"

The girl was scared pale and instinctively tried to shrink back, but Hu Ge held her wrist firmly, and she couldn't break free at all.

At this moment, a middle-aged man heard the commotion outside and hurried out.

He was wearing sunglasses and was likely blind. He walked quite normally, probably just because he was very familiar with the surrounding environment.

The girl instinctively hid behind the blind man.

The blind boss took an envelope out of his pocket, stuffed it directly into Hu Ge's hand, and squeezed it firmly.

Hu Ge threw the blind boss's hand away in disgust. "Don't try to get chummy with me, damn it!"

"Hu Ge, I'm sorry, the front desk is newly hired and doesn't recognize you. This is a small token of our appreciation; please accept it. Consider it our apology."

Hu Ge snatched the envelope, counted it, and frowned. "Just this little bit? Are you trying to brush off a beggar?"

The blind boss cupped his hands and begged for mercy, "Hu Ge, you know my shop is a small business. I have to pay wages and cover daily expenses, so the profit isn't high. I ask you to please show some mercy. We just paid wages yesterday, so this is all the money in the account. I will definitely have a big red envelope ready for you next month."

Seeing that the blind boss's attitude was decent enough, Hu Ge sat back down, crossed his legs, and glanced impatiently at Tang Ye and Xing Zhijun, "We're not doing business here today. The boss and I have business to discuss, so you two better get lost."

Tang Ye teased Xing Zhijun, "Old Xing, he doesn't seem to recognize you! How embarrassing!"

Xing Zhijun was so angry he laughed.

In the Dayu County underworld, not many people dared to speak to him like that!

Xing Zhijun frowned, "Watch your mouth."

Hu Ge did not recognize Xing Zhijun and slammed the table in anger, "What's it going to be? Do you want us to use force to kick you out?"
