Chapter 9: A Sneak Attack with a Right Whip Kick!
"Catch the thief! Someone come quickly!"
Gu Wenqin turned around, placed her hands by her mouth, and shouted loudly.
"You dare to come to my territory and run wild?"
Hearing the commotion, Lin Daye picked up a wooden stick from behind the door and rushed toward the warehouse; while sprinting, one could not tell there was anything wrong with his feet.
The workers in the workshop were mostly women; they crowded to the window and squeezed their heads together, "Did you see the thief?"
"I saw them, there are several! Where are the male comrades? If you're a real man, hurry downstairs and lend a hand!"
The few male workers found handy tools and sprinted downstairs.
"Daring to steal things from our factory, you must be tired of living!" "Catch them and beat them up first, then send them to the Police Station."
Although Pinghu Town had no mountains, it had a bottomless lake.
The reeds rustled, and the local customs were fierce.
At this moment, Tang Ye had already rushed to the wall!
The person on the wall had both hands on the wall top, while the person below was pushing his buttocks upward.
Tang Ye flung away the pants that had been pulled down, grabbed the ankle hanging in mid-air, and yanked downward with force.
"Get down here!" "Ouch."
The man's body was very thin; falling from the two-meter-high wall, with his legs bare, he clutched his waist and twisted around in pain.
Seeing that the jig was up, the person under the wall steeled his heart and pulled a switchblade from his bosom. "You kid, you've got some sense, get lost quickly, or I'll cripple you."
Tang Ye looked at the man vigilantly, pressed his right hand down, and pacified him, "Don't be impulsive. Originally, you were just stealing; if the amount isn't high, you might only be detained for a few days. But pulling a knife changes the nature of the act—it becomes robbery, starting at ten years. How about this: you drop the items, I'll let you go, and we'll pretend today's events never happened. Don't come back again."
Hearing Tang Ye's words, the thief was indeed slightly hesitant.
Tang Ye's left hand had long been gripping a brick; he flipped his wrist to hide it behind his waist and, catching the thief off guard, threw it at him with force.
"Smash you, you bastard!"
Tang Ye was well-read and good at sports; he had joined the National Martial Arts Club in university and didn't take the petty thieves seriously.
The thief was struck in the head, feeling dizzy and disoriented; he clutched his forehead and howled in pain.
"You damn bastard, playing dirty."
"This is called 'all is fair in war'."
Tang Ye followed up with a right whip kick and a left front kick.
In a matter of seconds, the second thief was also knocked to the ground by Tang Ye.
However, the crisis was not resolved.
A cry of alarm came from behind.
Gu Wenqin was grabbed by the neck by a tall man; she used both hands to try and pull the man's arm away, but the man's strength was great, and with a slight exertion, he squeezed her until she couldn't breathe.
Several people were wearing black hoods, making it impossible to see their faces.
"Whoever comes over, I'll stab her to death."
Lin Daye, who had rushed over, worried that the other party would harm Gu Wenqin; he vexedly poked a hole in the ground with his stick and cursed angrily, "Not walking the righteous path, but taking the evil one—you have hands and feet, why must you steal?"
Tang Ye stopped at a distance of about two meters from the other party, his expression grave, "It's not just robbery anymore; this counts as murder for money!"
"Don't give me that nonsense, I don't know the law. Let us go, and I can spare her life. Otherwise, we'll go down together, and everyone will die."
"To gamble your whole life away for a few bags of rotten cloth strips, I don't believe you're that stupid."
Tang Ye tried to distract the other party while considering how to close the distance further.
The tall man signaled to the two on the ground, telling them to flee quickly while he bought time.
Gu Wenqin suddenly felt the person's voice was somewhat familiar and probed, "Lao San, is that you?"
"What Lao San or not Lao San!" The other party's voice was clearly somewhat flustered.
Gu Wenqin's voice turned cold, "I know you are Lao San. I don't blame you; put down the knife quickly, and let's discuss this properly."
No sooner said than done!
Taking advantage of Gu Wenqin diverting his attention, Tang Ye lunged and flashed to Lao San's right side.
"Careful, that kid is playing dirty again, trying to ambush you." The accomplice whose head had been smashed with a brick crawled up slowly from the ground and roared a warning.
Lao San looked toward Tang Ye.
Tang Ye suddenly flew out a kick, accurately striking his wrist.
"Kid, you've got good skills!"
Before the words had even faded, Lin Daye rolled on the ground and smashed his stick onto Lao San's knee.
Lao San felt as if his knee had been shattered; he clutched his knee in agony, rolling on the ground while letting out a pig-like shriek.
In the chaotic fight, someone tore off the black hood; it was indeed Lao San, his face now swollen.
He gritted his teeth and quietly reached his hand toward his waist.
"You husband-killing woman, you drove me to a dead end. Either kill me, or I'm not done with you."
Tang Ye was on guard.
He pressed his knee against the man's elbow and searched out a switchblade from his waist.
The others gasped.
This guy was too full of schemes!
If not for Tang Ye's alertness, he likely would have been "bitten" back by a surprise attack.
"Don't think about revenge anymore! Prepare to sit in jail until the end of your days..."
Tang Ye hadn't finished speaking.
"Hammer this kid to death."
"Let you steal things."
The workers swarmed forward, throwing punches and kicks, beating him until he was on the verge of death.
"Stop hitting him, you'll kill him if you keep going." Gu Wenqin finally regained her senses and softly tried to dissuade the crowd.
Her feelings were a complex mix; she never expected there to be a mole in the factory.
Lao San was the younger brother of her ex-husband's sister-in-law; when her husband was still alive, he had been given a job at the factory, but because he was lazy and had sticky fingers, things were often missing from the warehouse, and later it was discovered to be related to him, so although it wasn't brought out into the open, they still found a reason to fire him.
She never expected him to bite the hand that fed him and collude with outsiders to steal from the warehouse.
A police car arrived outside the factory building, and Wan Ming led the team himself, his face livid, ordering his subordinates to take the man into the vehicle.
"There are still accomplices who haven't been caught; we need to have the public security comrades work overtime." Tang Ye's tone was low, "I suspect this isn't a simple case of theft."
Wan Ming understood Tang Ye's meaning instantly, "I will interrogate him personally and won't let a single fish slip through the net."
Although he hadn't been at the scene, from everyone's descriptions, he knew that Tang Ye had performed outstandingly during the process of catching the thief.
Wan Ming rarely admired anyone, but at this moment, he was won over by the sense of justice and courage Tang Ye possessed.
The police car departed.
Gu Wenqin felt conflicted, and as she looked toward Tang Ye's arm, she saw his snow-white sleeve stained red, "Deputy Town Mayor Tang, you're hurt!"
Tang Ye only then realized he had been grazed by a switchblade; due to the adrenaline, he hadn't noticed, but seeing Gu Wenqin's eyes turn red, he softly comforted her, "It's just a superficial wound, nothing serious."
Gu Wenqin wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, took a deep breath, and urged, "Hurry to the hospital, it's still bleeding!"
Gu Wenqin called for the driver and used a cargo truck to take Tang Ye to the hospital.
The crowd discussed the matter heatedly.
"Who was that man Wenqin brought today? He was like a little tiger."
"That's the new Deputy Town Mayor in our town!"
"Ah? So young? I thought he was Gu's..."
"Shh, don't gossip! We owe it all to him; otherwise, the goods would have been lost, we wouldn't have been able to fulfill the order, and the factory would have been finished."
The guard room.
Lin Laotou picked up the phone and dialed a number, "Lao Hong, it's me, Lao Lin!"
Hong Ruilin was studying a chess manual; he took off his black-rimmed glasses and asked in surprise, "Is there something up so late?"
Lin Laotou described what had happened tonight and didn't hold back his praise, "This kid has guts."
"It's not easy to get a compliment from you!" Hong Ruilin frowned, "Did the kid get hurt again?"
Lin Laotou waved his hand, "Just broke a bit of skin; he looks too refined, so shedding a little blood isn't a bad thing."
Tang Ye arrived at the town hospital accompanied by Gu Wenqin.
The doctor looked at the wound; it wasn't deep, but he needed anesthesia and seven or eight stitches.
This period of time could be considered a run of bad luck, constantly dealing with hospitals.
Gu Wenqin kept her hand over her heart and her brows tightly furrowed as she watched the needle pierce his skin.
Tang Ye couldn't help but feel a bit moved.
She was clearly afraid of bloody scenes, yet she still forced herself to stay calm, standing by to watch over him, gently holding his healthy arm.
She didn't want him to feel lonely, did she...
