Chapter 150: The Ancient Mummy in the Pyramid

~6 min read 1,109 words

Deep caves in the valley were originally dug out by the shaman old man commanding Undead.

At first, he only found a few fist‑sized obsidian pieces on the surface, then excitedly collected them and had Zombies start digging.

The tunnel grew deeper and deeper, and more magical gems were unearthed; as the passage deepened, the shaman old man discovered that beneath lay a tunnel bearing artificial marks.

The magical gems were also decorative inlays on this tunnel; the walls on all four sides were studded densely with magical gems, serving merely as ornaments.

At the end of this several‑hundred‑meter magical‑gem corridor stood a massive golden door; the shaman old man could not open it, his spells could not break the door, because a mysterious spell protected it.

Naimi Xisi assumed a humanoid form and walked to the cave entrance; looking inside, he indeed saw various magical gems glittering in the darkness.

The shaman old man had lived in this basin for years, but had only used about one‑third of the magical gems; the remaining gems lay intact in the tunnel, emitting a captivating glow.

Naimi Xisi's eyes lit up; the gems within his sight were already enough material for the foundation of a Mage Tower.

Carving magical runes requires powder ground from magical gems; each stone measuring one square meter in length, width and height needs at least 500 g of magical‑gem powder, making the cost extremely high.

Of course, the benefits are huge; the combination of magical runes grants the Mage Tower an immensely strong spell defense, and aside from Legendary spells, almost no magic can destroy a complete Mage Tower.

In fact, among the few recorded sieges that breached Mage Towers on the Feren Continent, they all exhausted the tower's mana with massive loss of life, then used physical siege engines to break its defenses.

Naimi Xisi entered the cave, advanced several hundred meters, and finally reached the golden door at the end.

"Tsk tsk, no wonder that shaman couldn't open this door," Naimi Xisi stroked the surface of the golden door, sighing.

The door's surface bears a very powerful spell protection; although not as strong as the 【Magic Dungen Arcane Seal】 that once guarded the black egg, it is still enough to stop an average intruder.

But for the current Naimi Xisi, it was completely insufficient.

He extended a finger toward the golden door, whispered a chant of over twenty syllables, and a white light leapt from his fingertip, striking the door.

Six‑ring Abjuration — 【Higher Dispel Magic】!

Enhanced by a Power Gem, the protective spell received an absurd boost; a dazzling light erupted from the golden door, and the powerful unknown magic was annihilated.

At this moment, Naimi Xisi couldn't help admiring the Power Gem's strength; almost every spell had been amplified in quantity, quality, or both.

The magic on the door was dispelled, but when Naimi Xisi tried to push the door, it still wouldn't budge.

This wasn't surprising; although the Power Gem multiplied his strength tenfold, his adult human form still couldn't exert great force.

Fearing that revealing his true form would cause the tunnel to collapse, Naimi Xisi resorted to a simpler method.

He channeled Mana, releasing a massive mental force to push the golden door; the Mana's power was also amplified twentyfold, now his normal mental force could easily lift several‑ton objects, and with full Mana consumption, hundreds of tons were trivial.

The enormous force slowly pushed the golden door open, and the world beyond unfolded before Naimi Xisi's eyes.

Behind the door lay a vast, deep underground space; layer upon layer of green stone slab stairs extended downward from the door for thousands of meters.

At the foot of the stairs stood a 200‑meter‑tall golden pyramid, shimmering with golden light, solitary on a stone platform at the heart of darkness.

At the sharp apex of the pyramid, a golden tray bore an enormous, dazzling prismatic transparent gem.

The sight made his mouth water; he cursed the damned gem for being so dazzling and tempting, making a treasure‑loving dragon utterly unable to resist its charm. "What an unexpected find."

Naimi Xisi curled his lip, summoned Peng Peng, and tossed him onto the steps.

"Go, see what's inside that pyramid."

Then a 【Transmutation】 turned the bewildered Peng Peng into a massive ten‑headed serpentine lizard.

"Ah, boss, why does this tedious job always fall to me," the ten heads complained in unison.

The gigantic serpentine lizard rolled down like a ball of flesh, then slammed into the pyramid's edge.

"Bang!"

The ten‑headed serpent lizard's weight was enormous; even the golden pyramid shook from the impact.

Something inside the pyramid seemed awakened; a huge door on one side burst open, and a two‑meter‑tall Undead, its whole body wrapped in old cloth strips, stepped out.

Naimi Xisi squinted, thinking, as expected, a place that looks extraordinary couldn't lack a guardian.

"Who... awakened... my... slumber."

The Undead, its body swathed in cloth like a Mummy, asked in a stiff, booming voice, its whole being radiating an astonishing necrotic energy wave.

!

"Who are you?" Peng Peng's ten heads asked naively.

The Mummy slowly turned its head toward Peng Peng, stared blankly for a moment, apparently pondering why such a huge serpentine lizard appeared in its chamber.

"I am... Ipaná III, ruler of the ancient Naikexu Empire," the Mummy introduced arrogantly.

Peng Peng tilted a snake head, its twenty snake eyes glanced bewilderedly at the Mummy, then simply shook its head: "Never heard of it."

"Hmph! Ignorant fool!"

"What did you say?! You old Undead thing, you're the stupid one! Master! May I beat him!" Peng Peng fumed, turning toward Naimi Xisi at the top of the stairs.

The Mummy followed the gaze and saw another intruder; the cloth‑bound head revealed a pair of deep black eyes, now filled with jealous hatred.

"Dragon! Damn descendant of Kua Erte!! Traitor of the gods!" the Mummy shouted in a wailing curse, its necrotic energy erupting.

"What the hell?" Naimi Xisi frowned; after all, he was a Juan Ce Long born in the Mechanical Realm, Omega's pet, and had nothing to do with that lowly Kua Erte.

But recalling that a rain dragon with a trace of draconic blood claimed to be a descendant of Kua Erte, Naimi Xisi suddenly realized.

Probably Kua Erte's own race also originated from great dragons.

But a traitor of the gods?

Interesting, seems Kua Erte is indeed a felon.

Thinking that an elder possessed by Kua Erte now serves the Golden Legion made Naimi Xisi want to laugh.

Indeed, once you act as a traitor, you're a traitor for life, huh?
