Chapter 236: Subject 11's Superpower
After hearing Mike's words, Subject 11's previously unchanging eyes finally showed a noticeable flicker.
She exclaimed in surprise, "Subject 17."
The three youths looked at each other, not knowing what she meant.
Subject 11, seeing they didn't understand, hurriedly described with limited words: "Silver hair, he, Subject 17. I, Subject 11."
Mike was initially baffled, but he was used to it.
The day before yesterday, while walking in the forest, they unexpectedly came upon this mysterious girl; at first contact she could not speak at all, and Mike kindly smuggled her into his home's basement to stay.
After a day together, they realized the girl wasn't mute but had an extremely limited vocabulary, only basic communication, yet they also learned the girl's name was Subject 11.
A strange name.
But now, a second oddly named person appeared.
After Subject 11's frantic explanation, the three finally grasped her meaning: she knew the silver‑haired man who called himself a Psychic Sorcerer, and he came from the same place, named Subject 17.
"So far we still don't know where you actually come from, and why your names are so strange?" Mike asked curiously.
Hearing him, Subject 11's gaze grew forlorn, and she gave no reply.
Mike seemed to understand something and cautiously asked, "Are they bad people?"
Subject 11 lightly nodded, formed a pistol shape with her index finger, and pointed at all three of them.
"Bad people, kill, you."
Subject 11's words made Mike and the others gasp coldly, too frightened to act, leaving Subject 11 to consider contacting the police to find their families.
Dustin sighed at that moment and said, "Man, I just want to find Wei Er. We haven't played Dungeons & Dragons together in ages; if he knew all this, he'd be thrilled."
His words dampened Mike and Lucas's spirits; Wei Er was one of their quartet, always loved playing the Mage in Dungeons & Dragons, but since his inexplicable disappearance, the four hadn't played together in a long time.
"Subject 11, we've searched for ages and still haven't found Wei Er; do you know where he is?" Mike asked Subject 11, hoping for a clue.
She hesitated briefly, then in a firm tone said, "Give me his stuff and the radio. I will find him."
Her words lifted the three's spirits; they hurriedly searched and finally found a piece of Wei Er's belongings and a walkie‑talkie.
Subject 11 took the item, closed her eyes, and fell into darkness. In an instant, using the radio as a conduit, her Spiritual Power became boundless, crossing time and space.
After a long while, she opened her eyes and said, "He is in the opposite place."
Subject 11's words left the three baffled; helplessly, she took out the item to demonstrate.
She placed a board before her, set a tiny figurine on it, pointed at herself, then at the other three, and said, "Us."
Then she pushed the piece aside, flipped the board over, placed another piece, and said, "Wei Er."
"Reverse world."
Dustin's eyes lit up and said, "I get it, she means Wei Er is in a world opposite ours! A reverse world!"
"Reverse world?!" Mike and Lucas shouted in unison, utterly confused.
But that wasn't all; Subject 11 didn't stop, instead pulling out a demon king piece and placing it beside the piece representing Wei Er.
"He hides, dangerous," Subject 11 said slowly.
Dustin seemed to recall something, his face shocked: "Dimo Gogen!" Mike frowned and asked, "What does that mean?"
Dustin laughed awkwardly, "I named the monster we met today Dimo Gogen. I suspect Wei Er is hiding from those monsters' pursuit."
Subject 11 nodded affirmatively.
Mike said, a bit speechless, "Why call it Dimo Gogen? Isn't that the name of the Abyss Prince?"
Dustin declared confidently, "That monster looks like it came straight out of the Abyss, terrifying enough to make even Psychic Sorcerers appear; perhaps they're minions sent by Dimo Gogen!"
If Naimi Xisi were here, hearing Dustin's words, he would probably greatly admire this white chubby kid's reckless courage.
He dared to give a monster as insignificant as a blade of grass a name worthy of a deity‑level great existence.
Having learned their friend's exact location, Lucas, growing impatient, asked, "So, can you help us find Wei Er?"
Lucas had remained wary of the suddenly appearing mysterious girl; regarding his impolite tone, Subject 11 made no complaint, simply nodding seriously.
"Great!" Mike exclaimed excitedly, "Then let's set out together tomorrow daytime! That, um, Dimo Gogen is too terrifying; we can't stay in the forest until night."
!
The kids then eagerly drafted an expedition plan, with Subject 11 leading, departing from their home, determined to find Wei Er!
——
Elsewhere, Mrs. Morgan's villa.
Naimi Xisi was studying the monster placed on the dining table when he suddenly felt a wave of mental energy sweep over him.
His gaze instantly sharpened.
As a Mana‑mastering Psychic Sorcerer, he knew someone was probing him with Spiritual Power.
Strangely, after passing him, that Spiritual Power continued spreading outward, its destination unknown.
"What a peculiar detection method, the casting range is absurdly huge—how is that possible?"
Naimi Xisi grew curious; he used Mana to trace that Spiritual Power, and even a hundred kilometers away it had not reached its limit, seeming able to spread endlessly.
That reminded him of memories from the lab.
At that time he was taking introductory courses, while Subject 11 and the other two kids had already begun training advanced applications of superpowers.
One method involved projecting Spiritual Power into the mind of someone millions of miles away on the opposite side of the Earth, killing the target.
From a traditional Mana perspective, this is inconceivable; Naimi Xisi hadn't taken that course and still didn't know how they achieved it.
The scene before Naimi Xisi reminded him of the past, and he couldn't help but suspect it was a trace left by Subject 11's use of superpowers.
He shook his head, not rushing to search.
In any case, the lab people would never let Subject 11, such a valuable test subject, die; even if she were captured, they'd probably keep her well.
He only needed to wait until he regained his peak strength; then the lab's soldiers would be no threat.
Although modern weapons are powerful, at this point United States technology posed little threat to Naimi Xisi.
They currently have no hypersonic missiles, no terrifying fifth- or sixth-generation aircraft, and no various intelligent robot equipment such as drones.
With only some guns in the soldiers' hands, he faces no threat whatsoever, unless the enemy can suddenly detonate a nuclear bomb beside him when he is completely unprepared, leaving him no time to teleport and escape.
But is that possible?
