Chapter 240: Wormhole
"Mom… is that you?"
When a voice came from the mirror, Naimi Xisi finally breathed a sigh of relief, knowing the spell had been cast successfully. It's laughable—if anyone learned that the great master of prophecy spells, Juan Ce Long, can't even release a single Seven Spell Circle prophecy spell, they'd be rolling on the floor laughing.
The dim mirror reflected a scene identical to the living room where Naimi Xisi and the others were, but the mirrored world was exceedingly bleak, with black vines resembling tentacles covering the walls.
In the center of the living room, a delicate white boy with a mushroom haircut was tear‑streaked, his expression toward the mirror hesitant.
Qiao Yi Si saw the scene and felt her heart shatter, lunging to the mirror as if she could barely breathe, her voice trembling: "Wei Er, my Wei Er, where are you? Tell Mom, Mom will come looking for you."
Wei Er's face was full of panic; he glanced around and whispered, "Mom, I don't know where I am, sob sob, please come save me!"
Qiao Yi Si and Wei Er kept talking over each other, yet no information was obtained; Naimi Xisi helplessly cut in, "Time is limited, stop the nonsense."
Jim, standing nearby, also urged, "Yes, Qiao Yi Si, get Wei Er to hide quickly."
Qiao Yi Si hurriedly wiped the tears from her face, forced herself to stay calm, and gently said, "Wei Er, listen to Mom."
The frightened, crying boy on the other side of the mirror also fell silent.
"Do you still remember your secret base? Mom wants you to do something; can you agree to Mom?" Qiao Yi Si said solemnly.
Wei Er stared blankly for a moment, then nodded vigorously.
A flash of pain crossed Qiao Yi Si's eyes; her child was so well‑behaved, yet she could not help him now.
"Mom wants you to stay there; no matter what you hear, no matter who calls you, don't go out. Trust Mom, Mom will definitely find you." Qiao Yi Si said with determination.
Wei Er seemed to find his backbone and declared, "I believe your Mom, I'll go right now!"
Naimi Xisi interrupted them, addressing the Wei Er in the mirror: "Kid, you have 27 minutes now; during these 27 minutes those monsters can't see you, so hurry and go."
The spell's power shielded Wei Er; before the candle goes out, the effect of the salt will make those monsters ignore him, giving him the best chance to escape.
Although Wei Er's home is in the outskirts of the town, no one knows what he might encounter on the way to his destination.
Qiao Yi Si, hearing this, grew anxious and urged, "Did you hear? Hurry up, Wei Er, remember to hide well and wait for Mom to find you."
After Wei Er left, the Domain Mirror vanished. Qiao Yi Si collapsed on the floor, silent, and only after several minutes regained her composure.
She forced a smile and sincerely thanked Naimi Xisi, "Thank you, sir. You have no idea what all this means to me."
Before she could finish, she was already sobbing uncontrollably.
Naimi Xisi sighed, "You're celebrating too early; without finding the Rift you can't rescue your son at all."
He stood up and told them, "Let's stop here for today. In the coming days, you can investigate the Rift. The Rift links the two realm passages, and strange phenomena different from the ordinary will surely occur nearby; follow that clue, you might gain something."
After speaking, a silvery aura surrounded him, engulfed him, and he vanished. Only Qiao Yi Si and Jim remained, staring at each other in the living room.
——
In the next few days, Qiao Yi Si and Jim busied themselves around the town, asking everyone about any strange phenomena that might exist.
What they didn't know was that the phenomena they were searching for had already been discovered by three boys under fifteen, led by Mai Ke.
"So? Where exactly should we go to find Wei Er? Mai Ke, you really believed that nameless monster's words?"
That night, the black boy Lucas's cruel words broke Shi Yi's heart, and the little friendship boat capsized. Shi Yi vanished without a trace. Yet that same night Mai Ke's walkie‑talkie inexplicably picked up a signal; on the other end came an eerie wind and a faint voice of Wei Er.
This made Mai Ke suddenly reaffirm Shi Yi's claim—that Wei Er wasn't dead.
So he regained confidence, pulling Da Si Ting and Lucas along, and resumed the search for Wei Er; of course, Mai Ke also had his own motives.
He worried about Shi Yi, that little girl lacking basic life skills, not knowing how to survive outside; he wanted to find her.
But Da Si Ting and Lucas held completely opposite opinions about Mai Ke's plan.
Da Si Ting, a wildly imaginative kid, not only believed Mai Ke's words but also had many of his own conjectures. Lucas, however, was different; he harbored a lingering hostility toward Shi Yi, the outsider who suddenly intruded among them, and refused to trust any of her words.
Although he trusted Mai Ke, perhaps because he still held a grudge against Shi Yi and didn't want to admit defeat, or due to his own considerations, after hearing Mai Ke's plight he decided to find Wei Er his own way.
Mai Ke then entered the forest with Da Si Ting, beginning the search for Wei Er and Shi Yi.
They trekked through the forest for a long time, even reaching the mountain‑ring road near a quarry; Mai Ke began to lose hope faintly, but Da Si Ting called out from behind.
"Hey, Mai Ke, something's off!" Da Si Ting said, his face excited.
!
Mai Ke looked at him curiously, only to see Da Si Ting pull out a compass.
"Look!"
Mai Ke stared for a moment, puzzled, "What's wrong with it?"
Da Si Ting was speechless, then took on a teaching tone, "See where it points? A compass points north, but now it points east!"
Mai Ke didn't know how to discern direction, and after hearing Da Si Ting's words he still didn't grasp its significance.
Da Si Ting gave him a "you're clueless" look and said, "A compass works by magnetic fields; it never breaks!"
"It now points east, which indicates only one possibility!"
Mai Ke and Da Si Ting glanced at each other, recalled what their science teacher had taught, and excitedly said, "A magnetic field with tremendous energy must be disrupting the needle!"
After hearing Shi Yi say that Wei Er was in the so‑called Reverse World, Mai Ke and Da Si Ting asked their teacher how to reach another world.
At that time, the teacher, seeing their curiosity, began deriving it step by step.
"If other parallel universes truly exist, then to get there you'd need a Wormhole that connects the two worlds!"
"How do we create a Wormhole?" Mai Ke asked anxiously.
The teacher thought for a moment and replied, "If you really want to make a Wormhole, it would require an extremely, extremely powerful energy, perhaps enough to affect magnetic fields."
The science teacher smiled, "When a magnetic field is influenced by massive energy, space‑time naturally warps; perhaps the Wormhole you seek will appear."
