Chapter 30: Black Dragon Sgena

~6 min read 1,174 words

A few days later.

"Great master, listen to me, this wine is not ordinary; you must savor it slowly, sip by sip, ah ah ah, wait, wait."

Volensa grimaced, clutching his hair, watching the massive dragon drink the red liquid from a wooden barrel as if a cow were drinking water, gulping it all down.

"Burp~~ The taste isn't bad," Naimi Xisi burped, his gaze a little dazed as he asked, "What did you just say?"

"Nothing," Volensa stared vacantly at his years‑old treasured wine, now completely drunk.

It wasn't the All‑purpose Elixir of Eternal Gathering Island, but that barrel of Deng Timo's nectar was a premium wine brewed as early as 1336.

Poor Volensa had snatched it from an underground dwarf, kept it for ten years, and only when something made him extremely happy would he grudgingly scoop a spoonful to taste.

Now it's all gone in an instant.

Volensa sat in the corner, listless, knowing that when this dragon sought him, trouble was certain.

After downing a barrel of decades‑old aged wine, Naimi Xisi was in high spirits, enjoying the light buzz, and sang a tone‑deaf song in his terrifying voice.

"Un~related~wind~moon~~ I~pick~up~my~pen~waiting~for~you~to~return~~"

The dragon's deep voice paired with a completely off‑key rhythm; Naimi Xisi sang in a language the goblins couldn't understand. The timid Monsters pretended to be connoisseurs of music, clapping and cheering, while some who couldn't bear it chose to cover their ears.

"Hang~the~pen~a~single~one~~ that~shore~wave~thousands~overlap~~"

Naimi Xisi's mood was as good as he believed his musical skill to be.

Life returned to calm; each day he gnawed magical gems and delicacies, read books, and slept soundly, repeating this routine.

Such orderly, dull life made him feel very satisfied.

He was interested in strengthening his spellcasting power and stockpiling more magical resources, but not in the dangerous life that required using them.

In the dazzling flames, the whistling of sharp swords, the shrill cries of the death dance, only those with nothing would throw themselves in without hesitation.

But his good mood ended there.

The clink of metal armor rang crisply as it brushed, the surrounding goblins' expressions turning fearful and bewildered, and a graceful black figure approached from afar.

She was clad entirely in black armor, its close‑fitting design accentuating her striking curves; looking up, beneath her black hair were eyes like emeralds.

Behind her beautiful figure lay countless goblins, suppressed and immobilized.

"My god, I'm not seeing things—it's not a White Dragon, not a Silver Dragon. Are you one of those book‑worms living in the Mechanical Realm? No. A variant of Juan Ce Long, a Xenodragon!"

The woman wore a surprised expression, as if she had seen something extremely rare.

The daze in Naimi Xisi's eyes vanished; he stared solemnly at the woman, a powerful pressure surging toward him like cement.

He found that feeling very familiar.

"Black Dragon."

Naimi Xisi saw through the woman's identity: it was a teenage Black Dragon, the fourth‑ranked powerful being among the Five-colored Evil Dragons.

The woman exaggeratedly bowed, like an actor taking a curtain call, saying, "As you can see."

She glanced at the surrounding goblins, a hint of cruelty in her eyes, and said, "There's so much food here, it's making me hungry." Unclear of her purpose, Naimi Xisi asked cautiously, "What are you doing in my domain, Black Dragon?"

The woman let out a light laugh, stepped in front of Naimi Xisi; beside them, Volensa menacingly bared his fangs, but Naimi Xisi raised his hand to stop him.

The woman circled, observing him, and said, "I've heard a young dragon appeared here; some say it's a White Dragon, others a Silver Dragon. Those ant‑like insects don't even know what they saw. Isn't that strange?"

She looked at him cruelly and said, "My original plan: if you're a White Dragon, I'll subdue you and make you my subordinate. If you're a Silver Dragon, I'll break your limbs and have my minions line up to step on you."

"Just a Juan Ce Long, no, a Xenodragon—that's unexpected."

Then she withdrew her smile, looked at him seriously, and said, "Since that's the case, you have earned the right to cooperate with me on equal terms."

There is an irreparable rift between Five-colored Evil Dragons and benevolent dragons, but Juan Ce Longs are different; their neutral stance means they don't favor either side, naturally reducing the Black Dragon's resentment a bit.

Naimi Xisi raised an eyebrow— a Black Dragon voluntarily proposing cooperation? Still, he relaxed his guard a bit. Though he wasn't afraid of the Black Dragon, avoiding conflict was preferable; if two dragons fought in the city, he didn't know how many of his subordinates would survive.

The Black Dragon's amiable attitude was probably due to its being a Xenodragon.

A Xenodragon, as Naimi Xisi is, is a dragon whose bloodline has mutated due to various special reasons, forming a unique dragon species in the Multiverse.

Xenodragons generally can surpass age limits, growing into extremely powerful beings, even overcoming age constraints to defeat older great dragons.

"Cooperation? Why should I cooperate with you?"

Naimi Xisi retorted coldly; he had no interest in helping others solve problems, and he was even less inclined to involve himself in the Black Dragon's motives.

But he immediately received an answer he couldn't refuse.

The woman laughed, "Let me introduce myself: I am the Corrosion Tide—Sgena, a teenage Black Dragon."

Naimi Xisi modestly nodded and said, "I am the White Mystery—Naimi Xisi, a youthful Juan Ce Long."

Both underage dragons felt great satisfaction; their self‑crafted titles finally had a chance to be proudly spoken during their exchange.

The woman continued, "The Dark Elf has arrived."

Naimi Xisi paused—had the other side also been attacked by the Dark Elf?

"Kulagramosh is under attack by an army dispatched from Menzoberranzan by the Matron Mother of the Di Fo Family."

"The leaders of Kulagramosh were once a group of Gray Dwarves and orcs controlled by Mind Flayers."

"After Aolingduoer vanished, the Mind Flayers' control disappeared, and the Gray Dwarves and orcs united to resist the Dark Elf invasion."

"They found me, along with many tribes in the North‑Central region, hoping we would join them against the Dark Elf."

Naimi Xisi sneered, "What does this have to do with you? Everywhere in the North‑Central region is under Dark Elf attack; I don't think a Black Dragon would kindly care about the lives of a bunch of Gray Dwarves and orcs."

Sgena hummed, "I don't care, but Kulagramosh is the only obstacle between the Western Frontier and the North‑Central region!"

"Now the Dark Elves reaching the North‑Central region detour through the Arcane Dungeon—Ikasha City—then cross the Glimmersea, incurring great cost as noble mercenaries. Moreover, Ikasha has recently barred Drow from Menzoberranzan from passing through its city."

"But if Kulagramosh falls, the Drow army from Menzoberranzan will march straight south; then the Drow we face will be far more formidable than now."

"I don't want my domain to be destroyed like that!"

There is another chapter to read in the afternoon (chapter ends).
