Chapter 303: Dreamscape

~7 min read 1,312 words

The sand grains boiled under the moonlight, each reflecting stars that should not exist. Naimi Xisi suddenly opened his eyes and stared around in bewilderment.

Midnight, with the silver moon overhead, a white figure stood far away.

A stunningly beautiful woman dressed in white threads, her skin like black pearls.

Pale sleeves were wrapped in the eternal night wind, silver Rune patterns on her clavicle moved like a Magic Net trapped in amber. Twelve strings of ankle bells sank beneath the sea of sand, their chimes solidifying into mist that drifted over Juan Ce Long's crystallizing scales. When the woman lifted her arm, the desert suddenly lost its thickness, and Naimi Xisi saw that a true‑name Rune was embedded on the inner side of her wrist bone, each stroke bleeding.

"You have taken my pages," the woman's voice trembled like a sandstorm devouring the last obelisk. In the hourglass hanging from her earlobe, the upper blue sand was turning into the spire of a black city, while the lower silver sand solidified into a curled embryo of Wu Er Mu.

"Wu Er Mu? Is he your page?" Naimi Xisi spoke with difficulty, his eyes filled with reverence.

White robes, black skin, patterns like a Magic Net.

The one before you is the Lady of Mystery, Mother of All Laws, Magic Goddess, embodiment of the Magic Net—Midnight.

She is also called Mistra.

The woman let out a light laugh, like a swaying wind chime: "You seem very nervous. That little old man didn't say it to me that way."

Naimi Xisi forced a smile. Little old man? He guessed the other party was probably referring to Ougma.

"My most prized disciple, my most powerful elect—Ilminster—is trapped in the abyss," Midnight said with some sorrow.

"But a disaster is approaching, and I have no one I can trust enough to entrust it to."

"It was Ougma; he told me I should trust you," Midnight said, looking at Naimi Xisi thoughtfully.

"He said you are the most unique Juan Ce Long he has ever seen, possessing a magical talent that would astonish even the gods."

Naimi Xisi listened to Midnight's praise without joy; instead, cold sweat broke out, for he feared his deepest secret would be detected by this embodiment of the Magic Net.

Indeed.

Midnight gently shook her head and sighed: "As a god who knows everything, Ougma was indeed mistaken, but that's understandable; after all, the Magic Net is a great existence that surpasses the gods. If I didn't have a special connection with it, I probably wouldn't have discovered it either."

"You seem to carry some secret," Midnight whispered, her eyes brimming with keen curiosity and inquiry, "You are clearly just a mortal, yet possess an extraordinarily lofty essence, enough to lever, even affect the Magic Net."

She looked puzzled: "In my view, you are merely a Juan Ce Long with higher intelligence."

"But for some reason, after meeting you, the Magic Net data showed that since your birth, the Magic Net has been freely pouring an immense amount of magic toward you."

"It's utterly strange; I even thought you were my elect," Midnight said.

Naimi Xisi's mood plummeted to the bottom. Midnight indeed uncovered his abnormality; after all, he was the embodiment of the Magic Net, and the anomaly brought by the Infinite Gem could not be brushed off by mere talent.

Midnight looked at Juan Ce Long's soon‑to‑be‑wrinkled dragon face, chuckled mischievously, and said, "Did I scare you? I haven't even mentioned that I plan to dissect you and take a look."

Before Naimi Xisi could attempt to flee, Midnight added, "Rest assured, you are Ougma's prized flesh; if I were to strike you, he would fight me to the death."

"He is my most powerful ally; even Ye Ge wouldn't dare neglect him, and I don't want to offend him over some little treasure," Midnight blinked.

Ally? Naimi Xisi felt a weight lift from his heart; it seemed Midnight wouldn't make a move against him.

Nevertheless, he would not be careless about revealing the Infinite Gem's secret to anyone. In his view, the essence of the Infinite Gem surpasses even the power of authority, and he even suspected it could rival or exceed the might of great deities.

Not to mention, the Mind Gem alone amplifies casting resources tenfold; if he later becomes a deity and the Mind Gem can still amplify true divine power, it would be a treasure that any god would be willing to tear their own scalp off to obtain.

The two activated Infinite Gems currently cannot let him instantly dominate heaven and earth, but as he gradually enhances his essence, these functions will remain useful.

The resulting effect will be far more than a simple 1+1.

Seeing this little dragon dare to space out before him, Midnight also found it amusing.

"Alright, let's get down to business," Midnight's words pulled Naimi Xisi's mind back to reality. He asked cautiously, "Is the boy Wu Er Mu the one you sent to me?"

Midnight smiled and nodded: "I'll count you as clever; I need you to protect him and ensure Yin Hun City cannot take him away."

Naimi Xisi asked, "Yin Hun City? What is that?"

"A group of people who should have vanished with history."

"However, you must be careful," Midnight warned, "With your strength, facing the seven Legendary Mages in Yin Hun City is still not enough."

"How many?!" Naimi Xisi choked on his own saliva, his face full of disbelief.

"Seven Legendary Mages? The goddess is really overestimating him, isn't she?"

"That scares you? They're just Legendary Mages, what's the big deal?" Midnight sneered.

Juan Ce Long's eyelids twitched, a speechless expression on his face. Of course, you are nothing special; you wield a lofty, mighty divine power.

And I am merely a small adult Juan Ce Long.

!

Seeming to notice his dilemma, Midnight produced a holy badge bearing a blue‑white planet and handed it to him.

"Rest assured, the people of Yin Hun City study the Arcane Power knowledge of the ancient Naisuerui'er Empire, which is completely different from the current Eight Major Factions."

"Their method of unleashing Legendary spells is a system called the Super Nine Ring Casting System; as long as you carry this badge, those Arcane mages cannot connect the Magic Net around you to perform Super Nine Ring Arcane arts."

"A group of Arcane mages who can only wield ancient nine‑ring Arcane arts—you should be confident of winning, right?" Midnight said lightly.

"Naisuerui'er? Did the so‑called Yin Hun City obtain the full magical system knowledge of Naisuerui'er?" Naimi Xisi asked in surprise.

"No, they are legitimate descendants of Naisuerui'er; the ruler of Yin Hun City was a legendary Arcane master of the Naisuerui'er Empire. He survived because he avoided the ancient Magic Net collapse disaster."

"However, you don't need to know these for now."

"Listen carefully," Midnight said, looking into his eyes, "I want you to remember this sentence firmly."

Under Naimi Xisi's bewildered gaze, Midnight said, "When the flowers bloom according to the pattern, you must release Wu Er Mu."

"What does that mean?"

"You'll know when the time comes," Midnight replied with a calm smile.

The galaxy reversed, sand grains rose, and as Naimi Xisi departed, everything in the dreamscape began to collapse.

Midnight stood quietly within the crumbling world, sighing softly, her eyes filled with bewilderment.

"Knowing one's fate, can it truly be changed?"

Behind her, a door opened, and beyond it seemed to be the dream of a sun elf.

The sun elf, with golden hair and blue eyes, lay quietly in the forest, eyes closed, basking in the gentle moonlight.

If Naimi Xisi were here, he would surely recall that she was his companion on the journey to Dragon Island to obtain the 【Chaotic Demon Star】—the sun elf Jafunas.
