Chapter 47: Between the Throne
"The fourth duke?" Naimi Xisi furrowed his brow, just as he was about to ask what was happening, he suddenly realized his draconic body had vanished.
He had become a human clad entirely in black robes like them.
The elder smiled and said, "No need to worry, it should have transmitted all the information to you, everything about this place."
Naimi Xisi fell silent, began scanning his memory in his mind, and the voice of his psyche sounded at the right moment.
"Master, I have intercepted a data stream from the outside; would you like to view it?"
"Then it's here with you; view it."
The information flooded his mind, and after a full minute, Naimi Xisi finally exhaled, his expression complex as he looked at them.
"So I'm the fourth? Throne—truly marvelous."
Many beings in the mortal world have asked: Is the world we know everything? Does anything exist beyond the Multiverse? If so, are there more universes beyond the Multiverse? Intelligent beings know that the Multiverse consists of twenty‑five infinite‑area universes (also called planes), and the PrimeMaterialPlane is one of them.
Between each plane lies endless void, a nothingness with no existence.
Since ancient times, cosmic natural phenomena such as the Magic Net or the River of the Underworld have linked the twenty‑five planes, forming the Multiverse known to living beings today.
Yet to this day, no one has discovered whether other universes exist beyond the Multiverse.
Devotees of deities, using miracles, built a wondrous giant ship that spanned the void, but after exhausting fuel and reaching a place where even the gods lost contact, all they found was endless void.
From then on, people ceased to explore possibilities beyond the Multiverse.
And the Throne was forged by that unknown beyond the Multiverse.
It is unknown how long ago—perhaps hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, perhaps hundreds of millions of years.
A wanderer from beyond the Multiverse arrived here.
For reasons unknown, it entered the Star Realm, offered all of itself to the great Star Realm Will, and forged six gems.
Its name is—Throne.
At the moment of its birth, the Throne was cast into the void by boundless power, and after countless ages, it descended into world after world.
A lucky finder who obtains a gem can, by activating the Throne, reach Between the Throne, a space independent of the Multiverse.
Yet over countless years, some gems were lost in the void, completely deviating from the Multiverse's trajectory, and some, like the gem in Naimi Xisi's hand, have exhausted their energy from prolonged drifting and must be recharged to awaken.
In several thousand years, only three fortunate individuals from the Multiverse have reached Between the Throne.
And now, Naimi Xisi is the fourth.
The mysterious origin of Between the Throne clearly hides great secrets, but until the six seat owners are restored, the gem only offers basic functionality.
Once a month, the gem's holder may travel to Between the Throne, where everyone can exchange information and items; the great power of Between the Throne can span the Multiverse, sending items to the duke's side.
Additionally, with mutual consent, dukes may visit each other's worlds.
Group teleportation across plane levels! Only the Conjuration spell "Gate of the Otherworld" from the Nine‑Ring Spellcraft can achieve this.
After clarifying the whole story, Naimi Xisi calmly took a seat, smiled, and introduced himself: "Nice to meet you, you may call me White Mystery, I am a human"
Before he could finish, another middle‑aged man teased, "Alright, Naimi Xisi, no need to introduce yourself, we all know—you are a Juan Ce Long, oh no, a mutated Psychic Dragon. From the Tianyu Realm Crystal Wall system, right?"
Then he seemed to recall something and said to a lady veiled in black beside him, "Come to think of it, you're also from the Tianyu Realm Crystal Wall system, right? Are we hometown folk?"
The masked lady, sounding a bit shocked, replied in a clear voice, "Indeed, that's incredible—you also come from Frelen, right? Who could have imagined two gems would fall onto the same tiny planet."
Naimi Xisi stared dumbfounded, unable to grasp what was happening; his Mind Power could not function here, as if all actions deemed harmful to a duke were prohibited. "What is going on? How do you know my affairs so clearly?"
The elder who spoke first said helplessly, "Focus your attention on the person you wish to know, and the Throne will feed you their name, race, and even the world they inhabit."
"This damned function is truly disgusting," the elder muttered.
The middle‑aged man beside him laughed, "Heh, Rajat, if we didn't have this function, we might have long been duped by you, the fellow who has possessed a gem for millennia."
Then he looked at Naimi Xisi and said, "Don't trust any promises from that old fellow; he's a prisoner, a lunatic inmate!"
The elder, whiskers bristling and eyes blazing, began arguing with the middle‑aged man.
Naimi Xisi received the prompt, immediately focused his attention on them, and indeed, streams of information from the elder appeared before his retina.
Name: Rajat (sealed state).
Race: Half‑person (Demonic Dragon) Location: Magic Net Multiverse — PrimeMaterialPlane — Cataclysmic Remnant Sun Crystal Wall system — Atas planet, then the man.
Name: Fa Qi Miles Race: Human
Location: Magic Net Multiverse — Ying Ying Ming Jie plane — Earth
Naimi Xisi's pupils widened; Earth? The Earth he came from? How could that be? Could Earth be within the Ying Ying Ming Jie plane?
He was horrified, then interrupted Fa Qi Miles and Rajat's argument, urgently asking, "Do you come from Earth?"
Fa Qi Miles looked puzzled, then nodded and said, "Yes, have you heard of it? It's unlikely; I'm clearly in a remote countryside corner here."
"What year is it where you are now?" Naimi Xisi asked impatiently.
Fa Qi Miles stroked his chin and said, "It seems you really have heard of Earth; the time is the night of December 26, 1890. A beautiful double moon has just crossed over my head. If it weren't to see what the newcomer truly is, I would be admiring the moon with a beautiful lady."
Naimi Xisi was stunned—1890? Double moon? His mind cooled, and he keenly sensed something amiss.
"Double moon? Shouldn't there be only one moon?" he asked.
Fa Qi Miles smiled, "Friend, each world differs; perhaps in your Tianyu Realm the moon is singular, but on our Earth, there have always been two moons."
Naimi Xisi exhaled, regained composure, and tentatively asked, "Which country are you from? The United States?"
Fa Qi Miles replied with elegant arrogance, "I hail from England, a Miles baron personally crowned by Her Majesty the Queen!"
It seemed to be a world similar to Earth. Naimi Xisi understood, lost interest again, and thought perhaps in the future he would visit their world to see if he could recover a hint of familiarity.
Not Earth, huh.
OuterPlanes are projections of spirit and belief, inhabited by deities, demons, and devils. Divided by alignment, they form sixteen distinct planes, such as the lawful‑good Heaven Mountain, chaotic‑good Free‑spirit Wilds, lawful‑evil Barto Inferno, and so on. Their arrangement creates a vast ring, each plane bearing its own alignment tendency and inhabitants.
InnerPlanes are element‑based planes, comprising six primary planes: fire, air, water, earth, positive energy, and negative energy. Mixed zones of these elemental planes form side‑elemental planes, while the borders between the positive/negative energy planes and other elemental planes create quasi‑elemental planes such as the Ice Elemental Plane and the Magma Elemental Plane. InnerPlanes are where the constituent elements of the PrimeMaterial world reside; each elemental plane is based on its specific element and repels others.
PrimeMaterialPlane is what we usually call the "real world," containing many separate worlds such as Toril, Kelein, etc. These worlds can be visited via portals or magical ships. Each world has its own culture and pantheon, with differing lifestyles and magical development.
As well as the Star Realm plane and the Ether Plane, these two energy planes.
In total there are twenty‑five planes.
Not every plane will be explained; when the story reaches a plane, it will be described.
