Chapter 57: Drow's Habit

~7 min read 1,206 words

【Maple Leaf and Bibi Bird Feather】 Inside the tavern, the server just cleaned up the chaos caused by the fight. The patrons again restored the lively atmosphere, occasionally raising their glasses to praise the might of several members of the Tok Mercenary Corps.

That's the life of drunkards; chaos and violence are their favorite, even if one side's origin is unknown.

Bang!!

Amid the revelry, the tavern's door was smashed into fragments by a massive force, and standing outside was Ma Luo, his left hand outstretched, a faint red energy field still glowing in his hand.

"Damn it!" The leader of the Tok Mercenary Corps, the man who beat Ma Luo, stood up and cursed fiercely, "I spared him, and he still dares to come back for death?"

He wanted to snap this pretty boy's limbs and send him to the kiln as a duck! The tavern fell into chaos again, but Ma Luo simply strolled in with a smile, greeting, "I'm back again."

Bruises from the punches still marked his face, and his squinting expression made him wince in pain.

The man stared at him coldly and said, "I didn't see you as a man at all—what, can't stand the heat and want revenge?"

Ma Luo shook his head, "It's not me,"

After he finished speaking, the sound of metal grinding came from outside, and ten warriors clad in black armor marched in.

"It's them," Ma Luo added with a smile.

The man's expression grew serious; as a Six-level Warrior, he still had some discernment.

The opponent's armor was not a style he had seen before, but its metallic sheen and faint magical aura unmistakably proved it was a highly valuable magic armor.

A pure-black knight concealed within the metal, a dense aura enveloped the man.

He knew it was murderous intent, a thick murderous intent.

These ten black fellows were probably each a bloodthirsty killing maniac.

"Damn it," the man spat, his heart pounding with a bad premonition; he didn't know where this pretty boy had sourced so many killing gods.

"Listen, I think we have some misunderstanding," the man raised his hands, just as he was about to explain, a sharp dark energy arrow slashed across his cheek.

Splat.

A professional behind him was struck on the forehead by a dark arrow; the dark energy corroded his skull, and within two seconds he collapsed, breathless.

Lao Luo An lowered the hand that had fired the energy arrow, drew the magical longsword at his waist, and pointed it at the opponent.

He said with a rapt tone, "Thank you, I will truly enjoy the process of killing you."

The man widened his eyes, his muscles tensing; he knew he couldn't be lenient today.

Ten shadows surged toward the few members of the Tok Mercenary Corps at ghostly speed, and the nearby patrons could no longer indulge in drunkenness, scrambling and crawling outward.

Occasionally, some patrons, lacking foresight, stepped in front of the Drow, instantly losing their lives; the tavern descended into chaos, and soon only two parties remained to fight.

The man continuously swung his longsword, while opposite him, Lao Luo An advanced step by step as if playing.

Each of the Drow's sword strokes was sharp and vicious, honed by the daily whip training in the Matron Mother Family as a killing technique.

"Hoo hoo, hoo hoo"

The man focused entirely on adjusting his breathing to meet the opponent's attack, but as a fellow Six-level practitioner, the Drow was clearly more skilled in combat.

At some point, the surroundings fell silent; his companions had long been dismembered, their blood drained, and the remaining black fellows stood quietly aside, watching the battle as if Death itself awaited his demise.

This realization made the man's heart tremble, and he panicked, failing to block the Drow's sharp sword; the blade pierced his abdomen, after which the Drow gracefully withdrew the longsword and kicked him into the wall.

"Boom!"

The already battered tavern was reduced to ruins; the wall was ripped open by the Drow's massive force, and the man clutched his abdomen, struggling to rise from the ground.

A boot stepped on his face, the foul-smelling mud blocking his nostrils.

It was Ma Luo.

"Kill him," Oliver said from beside.

Ma Luo's eyes gleamed with satisfaction; he nodded, a red energy field rose in his hand, but the next moment he was called out.

"Stop."

Lao Luo An walked over, stared coldly at the man on the ground, and said, "The master's order is for him to die in full agony."

Ma Luo sighed, "I'm angry too, but let's finish this quickly; if things get too ugly, the Tok Mercenary Corps won't let it go peacefully."

Lao Luo An seemed to hear something funny, clapped his hands and bent over, laughing loudly.

"Tok Mercenary Corps?" he said disdainfully, "Believe me, they're no problem."

"As for him," the Dark Elf said, looking at the other, "take him back; I want to keep him in my house."

He crouched, gently stroked the other's cheek with his fingertip, "I'm just missing a toy for torment."

Ma Luo shivered at the Dark Elf's words; those damned Drow were each more perverse than the last.

But that wasn't his concern; he wasn't kind enough to plead for the man, and he even felt a twisted pleasure at everything the man would endure.

"Alright, the matter here is settled; the rest is up to you," Lao Luo An said proudly, glancing at Ma Luo, while the Shadow Sword behind him instinctively lifted the man on the ground.

Ma Luo and Oliver entered the desolate tavern; the spotted catfolk stared at the corpses on the floor, clicking his tongue, "Those monsters are better left unused; they're truly terrifying."

At that moment, the city guard, having heard the commotion, arrived late; Ma Luo gave Oliver a look, and the spotted catfolk instinctively produced a money pouch and began bargaining with them.

While the spotted catfolk bribed the guard, Ma Luo walked to the bar, where a half-elf was huddled in a corner, muttering incomprehensibly.

"Hey, give me a glass of sand wine," Ma Luo said jokingly, sitting on a chair coated in dust and blood.

The half-elf froze at the sound, shakily rose, and with a near-crying expression said, "Right away..."

The half-elf approached the bar, carefully lifted a mixing glass to make a drink, and Ma Luo pulled out a silver coin, tossing it before him.

"Now you can tell me, what's the deal with that Tom?"

Ma Luo hadn't forgotten why he was here; after getting beaten for nothing, now he had to pay another bribe to the guard, so he had to close this deal! The half-elf glanced left and right, hesitated, and said, "Actually... I don't know where he went."

"Lord Tok previously had a batch of contraband Magic Items he wanted to smuggle out of the city; Tom took the job, but ever since he left, he never returned, taking the entire escort team with him."

"Lord Tok never inquired about this matter; instead, he instructed us to watch anyone probing about Tom, so I guess he was probably killed and silenced by Lord Tok himself."
