Chapter 588
Wu Yingwei saw him being perfunctory, took the little notebook over, and continued to rack his brains to write; Wu An went back inside and hurriedly called Chen Zhuren.
He chatted with Chen Zhuren and also gave some guidance.
After listening, Chen Zhuren muttered somewhat, 'A An, I didn't tell you beforehand because I thought the leaders wouldn't come to the village for an inspection; if the senior leaders don't come, then we'll have prepared for nothing.'
Wu An said lightly, 'Leaders may not come, but we cannot not prepare.'
'Opportunities are reserved for those who are prepared.'
'Chen Zhuren, don't slack off.'
Chen Zhuren repeatedly agreed.
Wu An pressed further: 'I heard the senior leaders are coming tomorrow; tonight you should work a little harder, strive for perfection.'
Chen Zhuren: 'Okay, I got it.'
He hung up the phone.
He then called Lao Mai, asking him to arrange for reporters to come to the homestay for an interview.
Lao Mai readily agreed.
To him, it was just a matter of making a phone call.
The reporters, hearing they might run into the senior leaders on inspection, were even more eager than Wu An.
After hanging up, Wu An went to the kitchen and had his sister-in-law blanch some small tubes and the like as a snack, then invited Father to have a drink together; Wu Yingwei said to forget it, but Wu An pulled him to drink.
Wu Yingwei couldn't resist and joined him for a drink.
They had said they'd just have one bottle, but once they started, they couldn't stop.
Wu An succeeded in getting Father drunk.
A true strategist always throws himself into the fray.
Wu An also drank until he was dizzy.
He was still secretly pleased with himself.
Sometimes playing little mind games with family, harmless fun, can be quite interesting.
"Why drink so much for no reason?" Wu Ping asked irritably, "A An, you did this on purpose, didn't you?"
Wu An nodded: "Yeah."
"..." Wu Ping said, "At this point still joking, can't be bothered with you, Dad, I'm not drinking anymore—what's the point of liquid courage if the leaders might not even show up?"
"Even if they do come, getting drunk so far in advance is useless."
Wu Ping helped Father back to the room.
Wu An felt somewhat helpless; he spoke frankly, yet they still wouldn't believe him, so he poured a cup of tea, carried it into the room, and also helped look after Father—when someone's drunk, you can't leave them alone.
If anything happened, it could become a big problem.
He put down the tea cup, found his phone, and sent a message in the QQ group saying to postpone tomorrow's sea outing, so everyone could rest properly, and so everyone could see the reply.
Soon everyone replied one by one saying they'd received it.
It was already past midnight, and basically no one had slept yet; Lao Fu Tou couldn't figure out QQ, his Xiaomi phone was one Wu An had helped sell, and his QQ account registration was also set up by Wu An.
He did have WeChat, though.
But the group chat feature wasn't online yet.
There was no way around it—sometimes communication could only be done via QQ; otherwise you'd have to broadcast a message, which is also quite a hassle.
Actually.
Nowadays, many things aren't much different from the future; the changes don't look big, but from Wu An's personal experience, there are still many differences.
That's precisely why opportunities are everywhere.
Wu An can see that, but though there are three thousand weak waters, he only takes one ladle.
As the old saying goes, greed leads to chewing without breaking.
After looking after Father for a while, waiting for his sister-in-law to come in, he told Wu An to go wash up; although he had already showered before getting off the boat, after being busy at the dock for so long, he still had some smell on him.
If he went to sleep without showering, the next day his sister-in-law would definitely nag him endlessly.
He obediently went to wash up.
After washing up, he went back to sleep.
After showering, before getting into bed, he still felt fairly energetic, but as soon as he lay down, wow, he immediately felt dizzy and disoriented, and instantly lost his clarity.
Wu Ping brought over a glass of plain water; seeing that Wu An was already snoring like thunder, he said, "Mei Yueqin, A An is asleep."
Mei Yueqin came over, helped straighten the blanket that Wu An had kicked aside, tucked it in a bit, and said, "You're still kicking off the blanket; it's cool tonight."
"How could you let them drink so much alcohol; you didn't even try to stop them."
Wu Ping's face fell; he thought to himself that maybe he could be blamed too, and said, "I told them, but they wouldn't listen."
Mei Yueqin: "Then did you say anything?"
Wu Ping: "No."
"I was thinking that A An's work at sea is tough, and he has a lot going on every day; when he comes home, he's always making several phone calls inside the house."
"Having a drink to relieve fatigue, right?"
Mei Yueqin snorted: "Consider yourself passed."
Wu Ping gave a hehe laugh twice and said, "Mei Yueqin, go rest; I'll take care of things."
"I rested for an hour or so during the break at school today, and now I'm not sleepy at all."
Mei Yueqin said, "I'm usually at home with nothing much to do either; I take a nap every day, and my energy isn't much better than yours—go get some sleep, you have class tomorrow, and besides, a colleague asked for leave; do you need to cover their class?"
Wu Ping: "Then I'll go rest?"
Mei Yueqin waved her hand: "Don't talk nonsense."
The parents-in-law came to the living room; Mei Yueqin sat down, took some snacks, warmed a pot of tea, and as they ate and drank, it was quite pleasant.
Staying up late is nothing.
Mei Yueqin was still quite happy; this shows the family still can't do without her.
Early the next morning.
Wu An woke up, hearing voices outside.
It sounded like Gu Anran's voice.
"What's going on, still dreaming?" Wu An muttered, got up, went out to see, it wasn't a dream—Gu Anran was really at home.
"Awake."
"Sister-in-law said you came home yesterday and drank too much; how do you feel now?"
Gu Anran greeted while tying an apron.
"Not bad." Wu An replied with a smile, asking, "Did you make breakfast?"
"Yeah, Uncle and elder brother already ate breakfast and left; go wash up first, I'll bring yours out." Gu Anran said while walking into the kitchen.
Wu An finished washing up, sat down; the table had wild vegetable stuffed buns, century egg and lean meat porridge, and some tea eggs, all made by Gu Anran herself.
Wu An directly stuffed the bun into his mouth, chewed a few bites and swallowed; Gu Anran poured him water: "Eat slowly, it's all yours."
"Delicious." Wu An said, then picked up another and stuffed it into his mouth.
One bun per mouthful, his eating was a bit exaggerated.
Gu Anran was very happy.
Hearing the phone ring in the room, Gu Anran went to get it, saying: "The caller ID shows Chen Zhuren."
Wu An upon hearing that.
He quickly grabbed a napkin to wipe his hands, answered the call; before he could speak, Chen Zhuren's anxious yet excited shout came through the receiver: "A An, where are you?"
"Come to the village quickly."
"I'm currently calling you from the toilet at Zhendayuan; the Senior Leader of the county and city said this afternoon they'll come down to the village to have a look, our Zhenzhongcun village is the first to be named!"
"This is all thanks to your idea, letting us hang banners to advertise."
"The Senior Leader also praised us for doing well."
Wu An coughed, then said: "Chen Zhuren, you know the village situation best; there's no need for me to show up, right?"
Chen Zhuren said: "You're the project investor; for some situations it's still better for you to explain."
Wu An: "Is this appropriate?"
"Appropriate; college students returning to start businesses—there's nothing more suitable than you. If you can show up, the town and even the county will surely allocate resources to support you."
"Alright, then I'll get ready and head to the village."
