Chapter 622: Showing Love at the Hospital
The town hospital is small.
But it's quite busy in the afternoon.
Wu An followed Gu Anran inside, feeling a bit bewildered; in his memory, it had been at least ten years since he last came here.
He looked left and right, not knowing which way to go for a moment.
Gu Anran helped him sit down, went to pay the registration fee, and after that took him to the second floor to see the Doctor, pay, and have a blood test.
Don't say it.
It's still pretty busy.
Pay on the first floor, blood test on the third floor.
Wu An originally said he could handle these, but Gu Anran only let him sit in the chair while she paid, then went to the second floor and took him together to the third floor for the blood test.
After the blood is tested, wait for the results.
Take the report and then go find the Doctor.
Pay.
Get the medicine.
Get an IV drip.
Wu An sits safely; when he needs to move, Gu Anran comes over to support him.
Talk about this.
Who can look without being confused.
Not to mention Wu An, who now has a high fever of 38.8 °C.
Wu An sat down: "Actually there's nothing serious; just go home, take some antipyretic, and sweat it out, then it'll be fine."
Gu Anran said, "That's exactly what you need."
"But for now, get an IV drip first."
"It's okay, don't be afraid; I'm here and will stay with you the whole time."
Wu An: "……"
Damn.
I'm not a kid!
But to be fair, this is his usual routine.
Start the IV drip.
He feels much better.
I have to say.
The hospital's business is really good; the IV room is crowded with people of all ages, boys who know nothing, but others keep glancing at Wu An now and then.
"That kid's girlfriend is really pretty."
"Not necessarily; she might be his sister."
"That's also possible."
"I think so too."
"Definitely his sister."
"You go ask."
"Why don't you?"
"I… I'm embarrassed."
"Do I even have the nerve for that?"
"……"
Wu An closed his eyes to rest, not yet asleep; at first the chatter was relatively low, but as they kept talking it almost turned into a quarrel, and he naturally heard it clearly.
His cold and fever affected his condition, and he was too lazy to respond.
After a while, Gu Anran walked over, holding a cup of hot water; there was none here, so she specifically got it from the Doctor's side.
"Where did it come from?"
"Someone gave it."
"…being mischievous."
"Learned from you."
"Could you be a bit more lenient with the patient?"
"Alright, alright, the patient is the most important."
The two teased each other with a couple of jokes.
Wu An took the cup, and Gu Anran said, "It's still hot; let me blow on it for you."
This scene.
A few men nearby wanted to gouge their own eyes out, but the image was already etched in his mind; even with his eyes closed, it kept replaying.
Wu An truly had no intention of showing off, nor deliberately flaunting affection; this banter was just basic behavior.
He felt dizzy now, perhaps due to the medicine, and sudden drowsiness came over him.
Gu Anran sat beside him, watching the IV drip level drop, when she suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder; turning her head, she saw Wu An asleep with his head tilted.
Wu An seemed to have found a warm pillow, shifted slightly, and slept even more soundly.
Gu Anran propped the chair with her arm, keeping her shoulder at a fixed height, supporting Wu An's head like that, occasionally calling a Nurse to change the IV bottle.
Maybe it was too comfortable; anyway Wu An felt he slept well, and upon waking, found the IV needle gone from his hand, and asked, "When was the injection finished?"
"Just a few minutes ago; how do you feel?"
Much better.
Alright, stay seated and rest a bit longer; I'll throw out the trash, then we'll go home.
Gu Anran spoke while getting up, gently massaging her left shoulder; she hadn't moved for an hour, and after having Wu An's head resting on her for so long, her whole arm felt tingling and numb.
Wu An was still a bit dizzy and didn't notice.
But he sensed that the few people around were giving him odd looks; one chubby guy wearing glasses said enviously, "Buddy, your girlfriend is really good to you."
Wu An: "Hm?"
Just as the man finished speaking, Gu Anran walked over; Wu An glanced at her shoulder and asked, "Is it still sore and numb?"
Gu Anran: "No."
Wu An said, "That buddy already told me."
Gu Anran's pretty face flushed slightly, "It's nothing."
Wu An didn't say much more and hugged her as they left.
They returned home.
In the courtyard stood quite a few people—Duan Dajie, Lao Meng, even Lao Jiang; A Qing was standing on the pavilion table, vividly describing the scene of catching the Bionic Fish and today's large handover of Bionic Fish at the dock.
A An, you're back?
Our great hero is back.
Duan Dajie shouted in a teasing tone.
Mei Yueqin saw that Wu An's complexion was off and asked, "Is your cold getting better?"
Wu An nodded.
Gu Anran took over, "He has a slight fever; I took him to get an IV drip."
Wu An asked, "Nothing going on at home?"
His gaze finally swept over Lao Jiang.
The latter just smiled, showing no particular expression.
Mei Yueqin said, "What could be happening at home? You go back and sleep. Anran, you keep an eye on him; I won't bother."
Gu Anran nodded.
After the two returned to the room and closed the door, Mei Yueqin also ushered everyone out so as not to disturb Wu An's rest.
Night.
No appetite.
He sipped a little of watery porridge, took his medicine, and lay down to sleep again.
Father and his older brother took turns coming in to check; with Gu Anran constantly looking after him, they didn't say much more.
Wu An kept sleeping, but not soundly; he was in a drowsy half‑awake state, his body temperature not low, yet he felt alternating cold and heat.
Later.
He broke out in a sweat, and only then did his whole body feel comfortable.
As for why he suddenly sweated, he dreamed of holding something warm, but since he was still asleep, he didn't investigate further.
When he woke up and opened his eyes, he realized he was holding Gu Anran.
He thought, no wonder it felt so comfortable.
Gu Anran sensed something, frowned slightly, kept her eyes closed, but already awake, and said in a soft, mellow voice, "Feeling better?"
Wu An: "Better."
Gu Anran reached out, placed her hand on his forehead: "The fever's gone."
Then, she furrowed her eyebrows: "It's fine now."
"At home."
"Don't cause trouble."
Wu An chuckled, "Miss, I can't control myself."
Gu Anran's pretty face flushed, she rolled her eyes, quickly sat up, put on her clothes, and said, "I'll go see what sister‑in‑law made for breakfast."
Wu An also sat up, got out of bed, and stretched a couple of times.
He felt completely comfortable.
His waist wasn't sore, his whole body didn't ache, and his head no longer spun.
He had slept all night yesterday, silently pondering that in dramas, when the protagonist catches a cold or fever, they always use some special method to cure it.
He wondered if Gu Anran had done something to him last night, given how quickly he recovered.
He finished washing up.
Having breakfast, Wu An took his phone and looked at it.
There were calls and messages.
His business is big now, many people contact him daily, yet the sea voyages remain clear.
Even though he muttered to himself, the messages needed replying and matters needed handling.
What he cared about most was Ma Weiqun's affairs.
