Chapter 289: Fact

~6 min read 1,116 words

Rin looked at her sulky expression and actually thought this "Berserker" had no intimidation at all, even a bit… cute? She smiled secretly.

The three of them arrived at the castle's dining hall.

At the long table were already Chang Yeyue, Ailisi Feier, and Artoria.

Weigong Qiesi was not present.

"Ah!"

Rin instantly recognized Chang Yeyue, eyes brightening, "It's that good‑looking sister from the park!"

San Yue Qi, hearing the words, immediately showed a pained expression and muttered softly, "Good‑looking sister… violent sister… such a huge gap in treatment!"

Chang Yeyue, hearing Rin's address, smiled gently and waved, "Good morning, little Rin. Looks like you rested well. Come sit."

Rin walked over somewhat shyly, eyes involuntarily drawn to Ailisi Feier's rare silver hair and red eyes and gentle aura, and further stunned by the golden‑haired girl beside her, sitting upright, whose noble bearing shone even in casual clothes.

She could sense an extraordinary presence emanating from her.

"They are Mrs. Ailisi Feier and Saber," Chang Yeyue introduced simply, "This is their home."

"Saber…?"

Rin's eyes widened. She knew the Holy Grail War and some basic servant class knowledge.

Saber, the leader of the three knights, one of the strongest classes!

And that silver‑haired lady was probably the Master.

She immediately realized she was now in another contestant's camp, her heart tightened, and her small hand quietly grasped Xiao Ying's hand.

(I was… kidnapped to the enemy's headquarters?)

"Don't be nervous, little Rin."

Chang Yeyue seemed to read her thoughts, speaking calmly, "If it were a kidnapping, you wouldn't be sitting here peacefully, having breakfast with your sister."

She gestured toward San Yue Qi, whose eyes lit up at the sumptuous food and who quickly entered "battle mode," and toward Xiao Ying, quietly seated, sipping milk.

"See, your 'kidnapper' is busily devouring the food, and your sister looks quite at ease."

Chang Yeyue smiled, "This is just a temporary shelter. Until we ensure your safety and contact your families, you may stay here with peace of mind."

Rin glanced at San Yue Qi, wolfing down food as if starving for days, then at the now much calmer Xiao Ying, and her uneasy heart gradually eased.

The aroma of the food finally stirred her hunger.

Ailisi Feier also smiled gently, "Rin, Xiao Ying, please don't be formal. Treat this place as your own home. Take whatever you want."

Rin whispered thanks and began to carefully take food.

At the table, the adults began their conversation.

"Madam,"

Chang Yeyue elegantly sliced the food on her plate, casually mentioning, "Your husband, Mr. Weigong Qiesi, always seems very busy. He was nowhere to be seen last night."

Ailisi Feier's smile faded slightly; she glanced at Saber beside her, whose emerald eyes also lowered a bit.

"Qiesi… always has his own plans and considerations," she said softly.

"Plans and considerations, huh?"

Chang Yeyue set down her fork and knife, took a napkin to wipe her mouth corner, still gentle but with a barely perceptible edge, "For example, to eliminate a potential threat, he would blow up an entire hotel full of innocent guests, plunging hundreds into danger—such 'plans and considerations'?"

"What?!"

Artoria suddenly lifted her head, her emerald eyes flashing with disbelief, "Miss Chang Yeyue, are you serious? Qiesi… did he do that last night?"

Though she disapproved of Qiesi's methods, she hadn't expected such extremity, which completely contradicted the Chivalry and Rescue ideals she upheld.

Ailisi Feier's face turned pale, her fingers gripping the cup tightening.

She knew Qiesi's style, but hearing such concrete and brutal actions firsthand still caused her pain and helplessness.

She could not refute it, because it fit Qiesi's logic.

"Regrettably, this is the fact."

Chang Yeyue calmly confirmed, "My sister and I were staying at that hotel then. Had we not reacted in time, we might now be buried in the ruins. Of course, that includes those two little girls as well."

Her gaze swept over Rin and Xiao Ying, who had perked ears to eavesdrop and paused their chewing.

Saber's complexion turned extremely grim, her hand hidden under the table clenched into a fist.

Weigong Qiesi's actions were at odds with the ideals she sought to realize in the Holy Grail War, and trampled the beliefs of her as a king and a knight.

She looked at Ailisi Feier, eyes full of accusation.

Ailisi Feier avoided Saber's gaze, lowered her head, voice hoarse, "…I'm sorry, Miss Chang Yeyue. For the danger and trouble Qiesi's actions caused you all… I…"

"Madam, no apology needed; you are not the executor."

Chang Yeyue interrupted her, tone softening, "I mention this not to blame, but to explain that in this war, our principles and methods may fundamentally differ from Mr. Qiesi's. Our alliance with you is based on trust in you and Saber, and on assessing a common threat. Yet some lines must be clear between us."

This remark both stated her stance and gave Ailisi Feier and Saber face.

Saber inhaled deeply, solemnly nodding to Chang Yeyue, "Thank you for your candor. I will ask Qiesi myself. By the honor of a knight, I, Artoria Pendragon, will never condone actions that endanger many innocents, and will do my utmost to stop them."

Ailisi Feier also lifted her head, eyes firm, "I understand, Miss Chang Yeyue. On matters concerning innocents and fundamental principles, our positions should align. The specific cooperation details we can discuss later in detail."

The tense atmosphere at the table eased slightly.

Rin, though only half understanding, realized the unseen male host seemed to have done something terrible, and that the golden‑haired Saber sister and the silver‑haired lady appeared not to approve.

This made her view of this "enemy camp" more complicated.

Breakfast ended amid a subtly delicate yet overall peaceful atmosphere.

"Alright, little Rin, little Xiao Ying."

Chang Yeyue stood, smiling at the two girls, "The weather's nice today; want to go for a walk? The streets of Dongmu City are still bustling during the day."

"May we?" Rin's eyes lit up; after all, she's a child, curious about the unfamiliar castle exterior and wanting a brief respite from the heavy topics.

Xiao Ying also looked toward Chang Yeyue expectantly.

"Of course. The Holy Grail War's 'Rule' is relatively relaxed during the day, as long as you don't deliberately spark large‑scale conflict."

Chang Ye Yue picked up the Black Umbrella at hand, "Moreover, with me and your San Yue Qi sister with us, it'll be very safe." She deliberately glanced at San Yue Qi.

San Yue Qi immediately patted his chest: "Don't worry! With me here, absolutely no problem! The Berserker's duty is to protect everyone!"

Although her method of protection may be rather direct.
