Chapter 531: Take a Look

~7 min read 1,316 words

Over a dozen trees were devoured in an instant, and flames shot up to the sky!

Jing Yuan landed, his feet never stopping, darting rapidly through the forest!

The Giant Fox's claws slammed down again and again, flame columns spewed one after another, and the entire Forest Park was turned upside down by the two of them!

Jing Yuan fought while retreating, the Golden Spear and the giant claws constantly collided.

With each collision, he could feel the Giant Fox's power changing—those purple‑black Flames were slowly merging into its body, making its attacks stronger and more ferocious!

(Can't drag it out too long…)

Jing Yuan thought to himself.

This thing can digest the Berserker's power; the longer it lasts, the harder it becomes to deal with.

He took a deep breath, and his figure suddenly halted in mid‑air.

Golden mana gathered around him, growing denser and brighter.

The Giant Fox lunged again, its massive claws slamming down!

Jing Yuan snapped his eyes open!

The Golden Spear flew from his hand, turning into a streak of golden light that collided head‑on with that giant claw!

Boom—!!!

This collision was more violent than any previous one!

Golden radiance and azure‑blue Flames exploded, illuminating half the sky!

The giant claw was shaken upward!

Jing Yuan surged forward, thrusting his right hand, and the Golden Spear flew back into his grasp.

He didn't pause, charging straight into the Giant Fox's Flame zone, the spear tip thrusting directly at its back—

There, Huo Huo still stood with arms crossed, unmoving.

The spear tip was less than a meter from Huo Huo's brow—

The Giant Fox's Tail swept horizontally!

Jing Yuan had to retract the spear for Blocking!

Bang!

He was swept by that Tail, flung sideways, crashing through three trees before stopping.

Jing Yuan fell to the ground, kneeling on one knee, the Golden Spear propped at his side.

His white hair was a bit disheveled, his robe dusted with grime, and his breathing was slightly more rapid than before.

He lifted his head, looking at the Giant Fox.

The creature stared down from above, azure‑blue and purple‑black Flames burning on its body.

Huo Huo still stood behind it, expressionless as ever.

Jing Yuan slowly rose, wiping a strand of blood from his mouth corner.

"It's time to be serious."

He whispered, a glint flashing in his golden eyes.

Perspective shift.

San Yue Qi crouched behind a car, poking half a head out to stare at the massive Monkey Horde ahead.

The Monkey Horde had already stopped.

They crowded densely in front of a skyscraper at least fifty stories tall, its glass curtain wall reflecting a hazy light under the strange illumination of the mirrored world.

On the roof stood a gigantic banana sculpture, its shape… how to put it, rather odd.

Clockboy.

San Yue Qi buried her face in her palm and whispered, audible only to herself, "Record a Node for me. Right now."

A faint glow emanated from her pocket, and Clockboy's voice resonated in her mind:

"Tick! Got it, Tick! Node recorded! Loser Eats Dust is usable! But Fen Mao, Warning: don't keep saving and loading, I also have dignity, Tick!"

San Yue Qi twitched the corner of her mouth, "Got it, got it."

Then she noticed Sha Jin turning his head sideways to look at her, his eyes, seen through the edges of his sunglasses, showing a hint of curiosity.

"What are you doing?" San Yue Qi asked warily.

Sha Jin tilted his head, the golden weight lazily rolling between his fingers, "Nothing. Just curious—who were you talking to just now?"

San Yue Qi's heart gave a sudden thump, but she forced a calm expression, "No, nothing! Can't I talk to myself?"

Sha Jin stared at her for three seconds.

Then he smiled, the smile carrying a hint of "I don't believe you," yet he asked nothing further.

"Fine, you can talk to yourself."

He redirected his gaze to the skyscraper, "What now? Your friend was carried up by the Monkeys."

San Yue Qi bit her lip.

What to do? Of course, go in and rescue!

But she wasn't foolish enough to rush in outright—the number of Monkeys, just from what she saw, was at least several thousand.

Moreover, Ying sat in that sedan, looking nervous but at least uninjured.

Acting rashly might instead endanger her.

"Observe first."

San Yue Qi lowered her voice, "Let's see what they're actually up to."

Sha Jin nodded, offering no objection.

His gaze fell on the skyscraper, his brows slightly furrowing.

"These Monkeys… why are they stopping here?"

As soon as the words fell, the Monkey Horde began to move.

The Monkeys of all sizes formed two lines, clearing a passage at the building's doorway.

The huge sedan chair was lifted by four Giant Monkeys, slowly moving toward the interior of the building.

Golden drapes fluttered gently, and the bell rang "ding-dang ding-dang".

San Yue Qi's gaze fixed tightly on that sedan chair.

Ying sat inside, her hands properly placed on her knees, her long purple hair spread out within the sedan chair.

Her body leaned forward slightly, as if wanting to stand but not daring to move, her facial expression so complex it was hard to describe.

The sedan chair entered the building.

The Monkey Horde began to surge inside, the little Monkeys hopping and leaping in, while the Giant Monkeys entered one after another with heavy steps.

In no time, the street was left with only a mess of footprints and a few forgotten banana peels.

San Yue Qi stood up and looked at Sha Jin.

Sha Jin shrugged, his expression as if saying, "What do you think I'm doing? I have no opinion."

The two crouched, inching toward the building.

Ying sat in that huge sedan chair, feeling her worldview being hit like never before.

Five minutes ago, she had been carried by a group of Monkeys across three whole streets.

Three minutes ago, she was lifted into this building.

Thirty seconds ago, the sedan chair stopped.

She now sits upright in the sedan chair, with two tall Giant Monkeys standing before her.

The two Giant Monkeys bowed their heads and looked at her; their round black eyes held no malice, yet the earnestness in their blank stare made Ying's heart crawl.

"Um…"

Ying carefully spoke, "May I ask… where are you taking me?"

Giant Monkey A: "Jiaojiao."

Giant Monkey B: "Jiaojiao."

Ying: "…"

(Are they answering me? Does that count as an answer?)

She tried again, "Can you… understand what I'm saying?"

Giant Monkey A and Giant Monkey B exchanged a glance.

Then they spoke simultaneously:

"Jiaojiao Jiaojiao!"

Ying fell silent.

She suddenly recalled something—her sister, when speaking today, seemed to add a "Jiaojiao" at the end of sentences.

She hadn't paid much attention before, assuming it was some new trendy catchphrase.

But now…

(Could my sister also have something to do with these Monkeys?)

The thought sent a chill down her spine.

Giant Monkey A extended a hand, making a "please" gesture—though the motion was clumsy due to its thick claws, it indeed meant "please".

Ying inhaled deeply and rose from the sedan chair.

Her legs felt a bit weak.

Giant Monkey B pointed toward the deep part of the lobby—there were several elevators, their doors open, packed inside with little Monkeys.

Ying walked toward the elevator, feeling a slight relief.

(Having an elevator is good… if I had to climb stairs it would be terrifying…)

She stepped into the elevator, turned around, and waited for the doors to close.

They didn't.

She looked down at the elevator buttons—unlit.

She glanced at the floor display—dark.

She checked the light atop the elevator—also off.

Ying: "…"

Giant Monkey A stuck its head in from outside, shouted "Jiaojiao" at her, then pointed to the side with its claw.

Ying looked in the direction it indicated.

It was—the stairwell.
