Chapter 59: Defying Heaven Contraption

~7 min read 1,261 words

A few faint explosions sounded as several spherical objects were suddenly thrown from the roof of a nearby building, landing between the two sides and instantly bursting into massive, dense gray smoke!

"Cough cough! What is this thing?"

"It's a smoke bomb! Watch out!"

The Silvermane Guard erupted into a commotion.

The smoke seemed to have a strong hypnotic effect; the nearest guards, including Bronya who was trying to keep order, felt a dizzy spinning sensation the instant they inhaled and one after another collapsed to the ground.

At that moment, a sneaky figure slipped out of the alley like an eel, muttering, "Ah, looks like old SangBo arrived just in time~ esteemed guests, the ground is cool, let's change to another place to chat… huh?"

SangBo, the "enthusiastic" merchant of Xiacheng District, or rather the mysterious cold‑leg uncle.

He expected all three to fall at once, after which he would simply make a stylish appearance and casually drag the bodies away.

But he never imagined that when the smoke cleared, a patch of bodies lay on the ground, yet a gray figure holding a bat stood there as if nothing had happened, its golden eyes calmly watching him.

SangBo's smile froze instantly.

(No way? This hypnotic smoke is an enhanced version that can even topple RiftCreatures! What kind of constitution does this girl have?!)

Before he could adjust his expression—or say anything to ease the awkwardness—he saw A Xing's gaze harden, and the figure moved in an instant!

Fast! So fast that only a gray afterimage remained!

SangBo only saw a flash before a foul wind rushed straight at his face!

He didn't even have time to shout "Wait—"

"Bang!"

A crisp, muffled thud.

A Xing's bat struck SangBo's forehead solidly, the force calibrated just right—enough to make stars dance before his eyes and his head spin, yet not cause serious injury.

"Ow, hey!" SangBo cried out in pain, spun around on the spot, plopped onto his bottom, clutching his forehead which instantly swelled into a big lump, tears welling up.

(This isn't right… why isn't he playing by the Script?!)

He just lifted his head when he saw A Xing raise the bat again, apparently intending a follow‑up strike.

"No, no, no! Beautiful! Hero! Lady! Have mercy!"

SangBo could no longer care about his image; clutching his head with both hands, he spoke rapidly, "We're on the same side! I'm here to help! Xiacheng District! I know the routes! I can lead you away from the Silvermane Guard!"

A Xing's movement halted.

Her golden eyes stared at SangBo, seemingly processing the information in his words at speed.

(Xiacheng District… evasion… feasible plan.)

She almost instantly grasped the situation and judged that this oddly behaved blue‑haired man was the quickest "navigator" at present.

Thus, under SangBo's terrified gaze, A Xing swiftly sheathed the bat.

She did not hesitate, turned, and with fluid motions—one in each hand like carrying sacks—slung the unconscious San Yue Qi and Dan Heng under her arms; her technique was precise, efficiency high, as if rehearsed countless times.

Then she stepped forward, heading toward the alley where SangBo had just emerged.

"Wait, wait!"

SangBo, clutching the lump on his forehead, struggled to rise, his face bewildered as he stared at A Xing's graceful maneuver, "What? You know the way and you just run?!"

A Xing heard him, halted her steps, and seemed to truly contemplate.

Then, as if recalling something, she spun sharply and ran back.

Seeing this, SangBo felt a surge of joy, thinking she finally realized she needed his guidance, and was briefly moved:

(Seems this girl does listen to reason… )

However, A Xing didn't glance at him at all; she sprinted straight to the already unconscious Bronya, replicated the method, and neatly hoisted her onto her shoulder—now San Yue Qi under her left arm, Dan Heng under her right, and Bronya perched on her shoulder.

SangBo: "???"

His mouth formed an O, petrified on the spot.

(No… she… is this script correct?)

A Xing readjusted her stance, ensured the three "luggage" were secure, glanced at the still‑stunned SangBo, seemed satisfied, and turned to run again.

"Wait! I'm still here! Don't run so fast!"

SangBo panicked completely, ignoring the lump on his head, scrambled after her, shouting in a lowered voice while running, "Hey! Good sister! You're running the wrong way! The Xiacheng District entrance is on the other side! And with all that 'baggage', can you even run? Need old SangBo to help carry some?"

A Xing, hearing this, didn't slow a bit; she even quickened, leaving SangBo only a flying‑by silhouette bearing three people.

SangBo's mouth twitched; what a Defying Heaven Contraption.

【Black Tower Office】

The System meticulously executed its commands, streams of data cascading like waterfalls in its eyes, silently parsing the core of the massive creation "Simulated Universe."

Heimu idly sat nearby, his fingertips intermittently tapping the edge of the console.

Waiting is tedious, especially on someone else's turf, even if it's temporarily "unwatched."

She glanced at the focused System and suddenly stood up.

"System, I'm handing this over to you. I'll go take a walk in System Space. If anyone comes, you know what to do."

"Command confirmed. Lady, rest assured," the System's automaton replied without lifting its head, its electronic voice steady and Calm.

Heimu's figure flickered, and he was already back in that boundless pure‑white System Space from the office.

Coming here was not a whim.

A stalemate in the "Persuasion" with Na Ke Xia made her realize that, regarding these Golden Descendants shackled by Emperor III's power, she needed deeper insight.

So far she had encountered only a handful: Xi Lian bound by chains, Bai E frozen and shattered, Wan Di nailed by a great sword, Ke Lv De La floating above a sea of blood, and that… style‑shifting explosive‑garment fist master Na Ke Xia.

There were many more figures, sunk deep within this cage of consciousness, awaiting discovery.

She raised her hand, tracing a dim Light Screen in the air, fingertips lightly tapping as she browsed the recorded names.

Her gaze skimmed the known few, finally settling on a new name—XiaDie.

"Just you, then," she whispered.

A door whose edge flowed with dark Purple Data silently opened before her.

Beyond the door, rather than the expected ferocity or misery, there was an utterly tranquil… purple flower sea.

Heimu slightly raised an eyebrow and stepped inside.

Underfoot was a soft, real sensation, and the tip of her nose was enveloped by a cool, distant fragrance.

Boundless purple flowers swayed gently in the breeze, stretching to the edge of sight.

The sky was a deep night curtain, with two bright moons hanging, their clear light spilling down, draping the flower sea in a dreamy silver veil.

(The Underworld? …Actually, it's quite beautiful.)

Even Heimu had to admit that the appearance of this imprisoned place was unexpectedly peaceful and harmonious.

But, where are the people?

Where is XiaDie?

She looked around; besides flowers, there were only flowers.

She released her perception, like an invisible ripple sweeping across the entire flower sea, trying to catch any trace of life.

None.

Nothing at all.

It seemed this beautiful Underworld was merely an empty shell.

XiaDie, this recorded Golden Descendant, seemed to have completely merged into this flower sea… or perhaps never existed at all?

Heimu frowned slightly, wandering for a long time in this tranquil flower sea, ultimately only able to give up.

(Another one… impossible to communicate directly?)

She resignedly turned back, returning to the pure white System Space.
