Chapter 592: The Big Black One

~7 min read 1,291 words

The golden light, the specks of light falling like raindrops, that Magic Wave that made her heart race—she knew it all too well.

That was Sha Jin.

That was the Weight Person.

It was releasing a Noble Phantasm, and it was the kind that spared no cost, giving its all.

"What… what's happening outside?" Lin's voice sounded a bit airy.

San Yue Qi gave no answer, and Lin didn't know how to reply.

Jiaoshou stood up, clasped his hands behind his back, and walked to the window, watching the golden sea outside through the glass.

On that monkey face, a near‑ecstatic expression appeared; his mouth opened, and he let out a heartfelt exclamation:

"Die without diarrhea~"

San Yue Qi: "……"

What on earth is this guy babbling about?

But before she could finish her retort, something even more terrifying happened—

The ceiling began to crack.

The fissures spread from the center of the room outward, expanding at a startling speed.

Countless tiny fragments fell from the cracks, then larger shards, and finally—

Boom—!!!

The entire ceiling collapsed!

A massive black silhouette crashed down from above!

The speed was so fast that no one could react in time.

San Yue Qi only managed to glimpse a vague outline—tall and muscular, gripping an absurdly thick black club, his body wrapped in dark‑red markings—and then that thing slammed right in front of Lin!

Wait, it actually struck her?

Bang—!!!

She was blasted backward by the force, her back tearing through the wall behind her, and she fell straight down!

Rubble and concrete fragments rained down on her like raindrops, a deafening roar filled her ears, and darkness engulfed her vision, making it impossible to tell up from down or left from right!

(Lin—!)

It was the last thought that flashed through her mind.

Lin was shaken by the deafening blast, her ears buzzing; instinctively, she crouched and shielded her head with her hands.

When the rain of debris finally ceased, she looked up and saw a huge crater in the floor beside her, its edges uneven, rebar jutting out of the concrete like a monster's teeth.

And San Yue Qi was gone.

"San Yue Jie—!"

Lin lunged toward the edge of the crater, half‑leaning over to look down.

The floors dozens of levels below had all been pierced; a pitch‑black void cut through the entire building, reaching straight to the bottom floor.

Dust surged up from the hole, choking her into coughing, yet she could see nothing.

"San Yue Jie—!!!"

Her voice echoed in the void, receiving no response.

Lin's heart sank to the bottom of a valley.

Instinctively, she raised her hand and looked at the lone Command Spell remaining on the back of her hand.

The red pattern was still there, emitting a faint glow.

She could feel that San Yue Qi was still alive—the connection of the Command Spell persisted, faint though it was, but undeniably present.

"Still alive… still alive…"

She muttered to herself, as if speaking only to herself.

"Of course she's still alive."

A voice that begged for a beating came from beside her.

Lin whirled around abruptly and saw Jiaoshou standing at the edge of the crater, peering down.

The expression on its face wasn't one of worry at all, but rather an excited anticipation of a good show.

"That's a distinguished guest I specifically invited."

It said, its tone brimming with pride, "The big black one isn't easy to summon; it takes a tremendous effort to bring it forth."

Lin stared at it with wide eyes.

"The big black one?"

Jiaoshou noticed her gaze, turned his head toward her, and curled his mouth into a maddening grin.

"I'm waiting for the big black one. How about you? What are you waiting for?"

It tilted its head, "LinJiaoshou?"

In that instant, the taut string in Lin's mind snapped completely.

She snatched a nearby gem and hurled it at Jiaoshou with all her might!

Bang—!

The gem exploded on Jiaoshou's face, and Flame and smoke instantly engulfed it.

But when the smoke cleared, Jiaoshou was still standing there, his smile unchanged, though a charred patch now marred his monkey face.

"Mu Da Mu Da, this is useless to me."

It readjusted its glasses, "You can't kill me, just as you can't kill that plan."

Lin gasped for breath, forcing herself to calm down.

She knows this kind of attack can't hurt it.

But she still can't help it.

That Rage, that helplessness, that Despair of watching everything collapse yet being unable to do anything—she needs to vent, even if it's just venting on this annoying Monkeys.

She takes a deep breath.

Right now the most important thing is—find a way.

San Yue Jie is still alive, but her condition is unknown.

She's alone here, facing this unkillable Monkeys, and also the downstairs mysterious "big black one".

(So calm down, Yuan Ban Lin, calm down.)

(Now San Yue Jie is not here; you have to rely on yourself.)

(Think, think about what other ways there might be…)

She turns around and looks at the papers scattered on the ground.

The dense reversed script, the shocking data, the world map dotted with red lights, and that repeatedly appearing name—

Ying.

Yuan Ban Lin's pupils contract slightly.

She flips through quickly and soon finds the record about Ying.

"Special individual ID… Name Tohsaka Ying… Breeding residue detected… Recommendation: prioritize capture…"

Breeding residue.

What is that?

Yuan Ban Lin doesn't understand.

But she notices one thing—among all the records, Ying is the only human whose name is listed separately.

Others are labeled "Experiment A", "Experiment B", "Dongmu City Resident 001" and the like; only Ying, only her sister, is recorded alone and specially marked.

Why?

A scene flashes in Yuan Ban Lin's mind—when Ying was with her, she never said "Jiaoshou".

Not even once.

While everyone else was infected and everyone kept saying "Jiaoshou", Ying never uttered that word from start to finish.

Why?

A thought emerges in Yuan Ban Lin's mind.

Ying… could she be immune?

Could that Breeding residue be the reason Ying isn't infected?

Could Ying be the key to breaking the deadlock?

Yuan Ban Lin grips the documents tightly, her gaze becoming resolute.

She doesn't know if this speculation is correct, but now, this is her only hope.

After all, she has no other choice now.

Then she turns around and begins frantically rummaging through those papers.

"Eh?"

Jiaoshou watches her actions, a bit surprised, "Aren't you going to look for your Fen Mao friend?"

Yuan Ban Lin ignores it.

She needs to find more information about Ying.

She doesn't know how long has passed.

Maybe a second, maybe ten seconds, maybe a century.

San Yue Qi's body finally stops.

She lies on the street, looking at the grayish sky, feeling every part of her body aches.

She doesn't know how she landed.

The series of impacts and falls just now has smashed her to pieces.

She only recalls instinctively activating Time Acceleration, then IceShield, and then desperately adjusting her posture among the broken stones and rebar, barely preventing herself from being pulverized.

San Yue Qi wiggles her fingers; they can move.

She tries to prop herself up; all her muscles tremble, but fortunately, none are broken.

She survived.

San Yue Qi props herself against the ground, swaying, and stands up.

Everywhere hurts, the pain makes her gasp sharply.

She can feel several cuts on her back from the broken stones, blood seeping from those wounds, soaking her clothes.

Her left arm can't exert force, perhaps dislocated or fractured; in any case, moving it sends a stabbing pain.

But it's okay; it's all still there and can still move.

She lifts her head and looks at that building.
