Chapter 601: Not Bad, Huh?

~6 min read 1,145 words

The flame reflected on her face, flickering in her crimson eyes, yet it did not affect the sweet smile on her face at all.

"Such a big temper?"

She tilted her head, the motion exactly like the real Ailixiya, "Let me guess, is it because of those words just now?"

A Xing said nothing.

She merely landed on a broken piece of rebar, lifted her head, and her golden eyes stared fixedly at the figure above.

There was no emotional fluctuation in those eyes, utterly Calm, but beneath that Calm something was raging wildly.

The Invasive Lawgiver looked at those eyes, and her smile deepened.

"How interesting."

She whispered, then raised her hand, and the violet‑black tubes instantly surged from all directions toward A Xing!

The tubes, like countless poisonous snakes, interwove in midair into an airtight net, blocking A Xing's retreat from every angle!

Their speed was astonishing, accompanied by a whistling rush, and the tips of the tubes glittered with dark red light!

A Xing moved.

Her body became a streak of light, slipping through the sole gap the instant before the net fell!

Then she landed on the edge of a ruined building, knelt on one knee, and instantly sprang, the whole body like an arrow released from a bow, charging straight toward the Invasive Lawgiver on the platform!

Flame Gun swept across!

The barrel, ablaze with Flame, bore a force that could tear anything apart, slashing toward the Invasive Lawgiver's neck!

The Invasive Lawgiver finally moved.

She raised her hand, and a violet‑black tube surged from her palm, precisely bracing the Flame Gun!

"Clang—!!!"

The massive clang of metal exploded in the night sky, the shockwave radiating outward, shaking the remaining structures to the brink of collapse!

A Xing's face still showed no expression, yet the Flame Gun in her hand burned even more fiercely.

The Flame flickered wildly, nearly scorching the Invasive Lawgiver's face.

The Invasive Lawgiver was still smiling.

"Not bad, huh?"

She whispered, the tone sounding like praise for a well‑performing student, "This power, this speed, this silent Rage—it's a few points stronger than before, right?"

She suddenly leaned close to A Xing, her face almost touching A Xing's, and her crimson eyes filled with malicious light.

"Do you know? This kind of Rage of yours reminds me of someone."

A Xing gave no reply, but the Flame Gun in her hand thrust forward a few more inches.

The Invasive Lawgiver paid no mind to the Flame that was about to scorch her cheek, continuing in that gentle, sweet tone:

"Ailixiya. The real Ailixiya. When she died, she was just as angry. Only her anger was directed at me, whereas you—"

She paused, and her smile became exceedingly vicious.

"Are you doing this for her?"

A Xing's hand trembled slightly.

The tremor was extremely subtle, almost imperceptible, but the Invasive Lawgiver noticed.

She smiled, even more delighted.

"So indeed."

She whispered, "You still remember those things, those that happened in the Past World Paradise. You remember those heroes, you remember Ailixiya, you remember Pa Duo, you remember Sakura, you remember Mei Bi Wu Si, you remember—"

"Shut Up (Cocktail Technique)."

A Xing finally spoke.

The voice was so soft, almost inaudible, yet the chill in it could freeze the air.

The Invasive Lawgiver's eyes lit up.

"Oh? Speaking now? I thought you would stay silent forever."

She suddenly exerted a sudden burst of force, and the violet‑black tube instantly unleashed massive power, blasting A Xing entirely away!

A Xing flipped several times in midair, landed on the edge of a broken building, knelt on one knee, lifted her head, and her golden eyes still stared fixedly at the figure above.

The Invasive Lawgiver stood on the platform, hands clasped behind her back, her posture elegant as if ready to begin a speech.

She cleared her throat, the voice carrying a deliberately delicate softness:

"Since you want to listen, I'll explain properly. After all, we have plenty of time; we can take our time, right?"

She took steps, slowly pacing on the platform, the violet‑black tubes swirling around gently, as if dancing alongside her.

"Let's talk about Ge Lei Xiu first."

Her voice floated lightly, "That little girl who loves to draw, that quiet kid always sitting in the corner sketching. Do you know how she died?"

A Xing's pupils contracted slightly.

The Invasive Lawgiver watched her reaction, her smile deepening.

"I killed her myself, you know?"

She said, the tone as casual as talking about today's meal, "Back then she hid behind Kesi Mo, using her drawings to stall time. That Kesi Mo, to protect her, stubbornly used his own life to endure me for ages. Unfortunately, in the end I still found her."

She paused, tilting her head, the expression as if recalling some pleasant memory.

"Do you know what she looked like when she died? Her big eyes filled with tears, still clutching the paintbrush, and that voice—soft and mushy, hearing it truly breaks the heart, right?"

A Xing clenched her fist.

The Flame on the Flame Gun flared even more violently.

The Invasive Lawgiver continued, her voice tinged with a morbid pleasure: "Unfortunately she still couldn't escape. When I lifted her, she tried to push me away with those tiny hands. The force was like a kitten scratching. Then—"

She made a fist gesture.

Snap. That's it.

A Xing's hand began to tremble.

Invasive Lawgiver looked at her demeanor and smiled even more happily.

"What? Can't handle it already? I haven't even finished yet?"

She spun a circle on the high platform, her posture so light it seemed like dancing.

"Let's talk about Pa Duo. That little girl who feared death the most, that little girl always thinking of escaping, that child who wanted to live the most?"

Her voice carried a strange sentiment, "Do you know what happened to her in the end?"

A Xing gave no answer, just stared at her.

Invasive Lawgiver's smile turned ferocious.

"I let her, in pain, little by little, completely dissipate."

She spoke haltingly, "She begged for mercy, she cried out, she used all her strength to try to escape? But she couldn't run away, because I left a mark on her. Wherever she hides, I can find her."

She tilted her head, her expression as if savoring some pleasant flavor.

"When she gave me that final look, do you know what expression it was? Not hatred, but pleading. She was begging me to spare her, even if just to let her live one more second. That Despair, that fear, that yearning for life—truly delicious, right?"

A Xing's body began to tremble slightly.

That wasn't fear, that was Rage.

Rage suppressed to the extreme.

Invasive Lawgiver kept going, she didn't care at all about A Xing's Rage, and even said she was deliberately kindling that Rage.

"And Sakura."
