Chapter 687: Creation Engine

~6 min read 1,161 words

A semi-transparent light curtain unfolded from the trajectory traced by her fingertip, hovering beside her hand.

The curtain was filled with countless icons and data entries, all things she had gathered in this data space.

Some were weapon templates copied from the system, some were data she had stolen earlier, and some were just little toys she made for fun.

Her finger slid across the curtain, icons rolling past in rows, then stopped at an entry labeled Creation Engine.

The icon was a giant robot outline simplified into geometric shapes, with a line of small text below: Beloberg·Yali Luo Liuhao.

She had snatched this thing while she was at Yali Luo Liuhao earlier.

Heimu's finger tapped the icon.

The space beside her began to glow.

Light points simultaneously appeared within a few hundred meters around her body, dense as if someone had compressed an entire galaxy into gravel and scattered it here.

Then the light points began to coalesce, forming lines from points, surfaces from lines, and solids from surfaces.

The cold metallic light expanded and rose higher above the barren land.

After a few breaths, a huge figure stepped out of the radiance.

Boom—!

A metallic giant foot stepped onto the ground, sinking the entire land by a layer.

Creation Engine.

Beloberg's ultimate creation, reconstructed in this data space.

It stood on the barren land, its shoulders towering above all surrounding gullies and fissures, while the thruster array on its back retained Beloberg industry's signature rugged style—thick exhaust pipes, heavy armor plates, revealing the practical aesthetic of builders.

Heimu appeared inside the cockpit of the Creation Engine.

All sides were holographic projection panels, displaying the surroundings around the craft in a 360-degree, blind-spot-free view.

Several layers of light curtains floated on the control panel, each displaying different data.

Directly before her was a sensory panel, with purple-black patterns flowing across its surface, awaiting her command.

Heimu placed her hand on it.

Magic poured from her palm into the sensory board, spreading along the Creation Engine's internal circuitry to every part of the machine.

The purple-black light spread like blood vessels from the cockpit to the limbs, covering the machine's original builder colors; the silver-gray armor turned into intertwined deep purple and black, the mecha's edges glowed purple, and the flames in the thruster nozzles shifted from orange-red to pure purple-black.

Along the seams between armor plates, magic patterns matching those on her skirt emerged, extending from the shoulders to the fingertips.

The mecha's eye sensors lit up simultaneously, two purple-black beams shooting from the pupil positions and sweeping through the air.

Heimu stood at the center of the cockpit, surrounded by holographic light curtains, her gray-white long hair lightly fluttering from the cabin's microcurrents.

She lifted her head, gazing through the largest holographic screen ahead at the purple figure hovering in the distant midair.

Bai E was raising his head to look at the suddenly appeared giant mecha.

His unfocused purple eyes showed no change in expression—no surprise, no shock, not even a flicker.

A great sword lay across his front, purple light flowing through the cracks in its blade, while the phantom of a serrated sunwheel behind him continued to turn slowly.

Heimu smirked and pushed her palm forward on the sensory panel.

The Creation Engine moved.

The thrusters at the waist of the massive mecha ignited simultaneously, the body shot forward instantly, and the air was pushed aside by the armor into a fan-shaped white shockwave.

The huge metal fist clenched, purple-black light pouring from the shoulder into the fist; the entire arm shifted from cold black to bright purple in under a second, each joint emitting a heavy metallic clench, and the wind pressure from the fist blew all gravel off the ground.

Bai E did not dodge.

He held the great sword before him, knees slightly bent, purple patterns flaring all over as he prepared to take the hit head-on.

At the instant the fist and sword collided.

Bang——!!!

Centered on the impact point, a visible shockwave expanded spherically in all directions, tearing apart the heavy, dull yellow clouds above and revealing the pure black void beyond.

The impact lifted the cracks in the ground, sending gravel flying like bullets in all directions.

The Creation Engine's fist pressed down on Bai E's great sword, blasting both weapon and wielder away together.

Bai E's body traced a straight purple arc through the air, flying from the battlefield's center to the edge of vision, smashing through several stone piles left by meteorite impacts before finally crashing into the ground and carving out a deep pit.

Heimu gave him no chance to climb out of the pit.

Such a huge bulk, yet its agility was outrageously frightening.

The Creation Engine's rear thrusters ignited again, the massive body surging along the trajectory Bai E had flown.

The next second, the engine appeared directly above Bai E's landing point, hovering in midair, while the rear magic turret arrays swiveled into position, their barrels all aimed straight down at the still-collapsing ruins below.

Heimu flicked her finger on the sensory panel.

Before the craft had even stabilized, the shoulder armor plates flung open simultaneously, revealing dense internal launch arrays.

The outer armor of both arms opened as well, and the chest armor opened.

Across the whole Creation Engine, from shoulders to arms to chest to knees, every opening flipped open to reveal firing ports; cold-white holes dotted the purple-black armor in dense arrays, each hole's depths glowing with accumulating purple light.

All launch ports fired at once.

Purple-black laser beams poured from the machine's hull openings, thousands of beams weaving into a net that slammed into the still-unsettled crater on the ground.

Under the laser barrage, the ground visibly sank downward.

The bedrock at the crater's bottom vaporized instantly upon contact with the beams, not even allowing magma to form before being turned into plasma.

Purple-black light surged upward from the crater's bottom, dyeing the entire sky a deep purple.

No one knew how long the bombardment lasted.

Heimu stood in the cockpit, hand pressed on the sensory panel, as the streaming data on the holographic screens accelerated—temperature, consumption, all numbers refreshing at a dizzying pace—but she fixed her gaze on the top line: Target Lock Status.

The energy feedback from the crater's bottom kept rising, indicating Bai E was still down there.

He neither dodged nor blocked, taking the full barrage head-on.

Heimu squinted.

The bombardment stopped.

Thousands of launch ports shut down simultaneously, the violet‑black light withdrew from the holes, leaving only the edges of the armor plates faintly red.

The Creation Engine hovered in midair, the cooling system on the craft's surface ran at full power, spewing massive plumes of white steam from the exhaust ports.

In the cockpit, the hum of coolant circulation sounded, and several holographic screens shifted color from red down to yellow and then to green.

Between heaven and earth, an eerie silence suddenly fell.
