Chapter 830: Kesi Mo?
Heimu held the Magic Staff in her right hand, the amethyst gem at its tip emitting a steady light.
"Run." She said softly.
Looking at the beast wrapped in hundreds of armor plates, she raised the Magic Staff.
The amethyst gem at the staff's tip burst into a stronger light the moment she lifted her hand.
The air around the staff was disturbed by the Magic Wave, beginning to twist, with visible ripples of dark purple spreading outward in concentric circles.
The tip of the Magic Staff traced a dark purple arc in the air.
The light trail lingered in the air, gradually forming a rune.
The first rune completed, then the second, the third; each rune had an extremely complex double-layer structure. The outer layer was a neat geometric outline: a circle containing a square, which contained a triangle, nested layer upon layer.
The inner layer was a dense network of purplish-black lines, like liquid light locked in place by a precise gravitational field within the rune's frame.
The rune hovered in the air, emitting a continuous hum.
Seeing those runes, the beast struggled even more wildly.
It violently lashed its tail against the sea, sending a huge wave crashing onto the tops of several nearby white cubes, then tried to ram its head into the nearest cube, but the metallic shell covering its body lit up with all its purplish-black patterns as it exerted force, the shell automatically tightening its bonds, locking its movements in place.
It could only hang suspended in midair, like an insect trapped in amber.
Heimu finished drawing the last rune.
Before her floated seven runes: three in front arranged in a triangle, two on each side staggered vertically, and one alone directly above at the highest point.
The seven runes spun together, accelerating, shaking the surrounding air into fine ripples.
Heimu nudged the Magic Staff forward.
The seven runes flew toward the beast simultaneously.
Their flight paths differed: the topmost rune plunged straight down from above, the side runes arced around to flank, and the three front runes advanced in a triangular formation.
Yet their speeds were perfectly synchronized; no matter which path they took, they all struck the beast's surface at the same instant.
The instant the runes touched the beast, its metallic shell automatically released, disintegrating into thousands of parts that scattered in all directions.
The runes adhered directly to the beast's icy-blue body; at each of the seven contact points, a thin, bright purplish-black film spread outward the moment they made contact.
The film raced across the beast's surface, converting the icy-blue skin it passed into streams of purplish-black data.
The beast's howl rose sharply in pitch, shifting from a low groan to a piercing wail, as its body began to disintegrate layer by layer from the outside inward under the simultaneous corrosion of the seven runes.
First to vanish was the tail; the long icy-blue tail tipped off into ultrafine purple light particles, then the torso—the transparent film was etched by the runes with countless cracks, the blue lines beneath it blinked out one by one, and the body itself turned into purple light particles once the lines faded.
Finally the head; the horizontal slit sealed shut the moment the runes covered it, the spindle-shaped head collapsed outward from its center, and the falling debris turned to light as it detached.
A few seconds later, the beast had completely vanished.
Halfway in the air remained only the seven slowly spinning runes and over a thousand floating Creation Engine parts.
And a humanoid thing, descending from within the circle of runes.
That figure landed on the edge of a white cube in a most ungainly pose, landing on its side, curling up slightly, then slowly unfolding.
Heimu hovered in midair, raising an eyebrow slightly.
She lifted the Magic Staff and gave it a casual swing; the debris beneath her feet lifted her toward that cube.
The seven runes dissolved automatically during her flight, leaving only seven tiny specks of dark purple light drifting in the air.
Thousands of Creation Engine parts followed behind her, beginning to reassemble: armor plates meshed together, thrusters were set back into the leg armor, sensor modules slid into the central recess of the chest plate, and within seconds all the pieces reformed into a towering steel giant hundreds of meters high.
When the Creation Engine touched down, it let out a dull metallic clang, standing firmly on the sea surface, its purplish-black patterns returning to their previous light-and-dark undulation.
The steel giant hovered silently behind and above her, the Light Band slowly flowing.
Heimu descended from the air, her boot striking the smooth surface of the white cube with a crisp "tap."
She walked toward the curled-up figure on the ground, the Magic Staff turning half a circle in her hand, its amethyst tip lighting up the surrounding area for several meters.
She stood beside the person, lowering her head to look down.
A youth (?) lay on his side on the white cube's surface.
His short, dark green hair was neatly layered, a few strands blown by the sea wind onto his cheeks, the ends hanging at his shoulders.
Four black, hard horns grew from his head, front and back pairs symmetrical; the front pair were slightly larger, tipped with tiny warm-orange gems, while the rear pair were more slender and delicate.
His ears were long and pointed, his face a smooth, youthful narrow shape, with clean, soft contours.
His eyes were closed, his lashes long, casting a faint shadow beneath his lids.
His neck was wrapped in a light-gray, wide, long scarf; over it lay a dark-gray, wide cape-like outer garment, the shoulders bearing sharp, upward-angled hard armor decorations, the hem falling at his sides.
Both hands wore black-to-warm-orange gradient gauntlets, shifting naturally from orange at the wrists to pure black at the fingertips, which elongated into slender, sharp claw-like structures; but for now the hands simply rested at his sides, the claws slightly curled, showing no aggression.
His lower body was clad in deep charcoal-gray trousers, his feet in black knee-high boots that covered his calves.
He lay curled there, as if sunk in a deep, heavy dream.
Heimu looked down at the youth.
She raised an eyebrow, planted the Magic Staff at her side, put her other hand on her hip, and fell silent for a moment.
Dark green hair.
Black horns.
Orange accents.
Demon-like gauntlets.
That icy-blue beast, is it Kesi Mo?
Heimu silently added "beat up Kesi Mo" to her to-do list for the day, roughly placed between "being chased and cut by Ying" and "having Ge Lei Xiu cure her foot fetish."
What day is it today?
Is it Past World Paradise Heroes' Rotation Day?
She sighed and crouched down.
Her finger hovered above Kesi Mo's face for a moment, then the System Panel automatically popped up the scan results: vital signs stable, residual energy fading, no joy tags, the contamination index of the Invasive Lawgiver at zero.
