Chapter 91: My Little Sister Has Arrived!
System Space
This is a completely sealed room, without windows, yet it does not feel oppressive.
The walls are painted a warm off‑white, adorned with ancient Greek‑style arabesque patterns.
The floor is covered with thick, soft deep‑blue carpet, scattered with a surprising number of cushions and soft pads of various materials, from smooth silk to fluffy faux fur, as if constructing a place where one can sink in at any moment—a bower of tenderness.
And the most striking feature is the omnipresent Ti Bao dolls in various forms—chibi versions wearing different tiny outfits, sitting or lying, occupying every corner of the room like a silent, loyal guard.
In the center of the room beside an antiquated wooden table, Tili Biyosi, called Da Ti Bao, lies prone, her thick red hair flowing like flame, a few strands falling onto the object she is fiddling with.
She wears a pure white dress, its blue exquisite pattern dotted throughout, and a gold belt that outlines the waist of a mature woman.
At this moment, this outwardly lovely mature woman, like a little girl, concentrates on kneading the thing in her hands, unconsciously humming an off‑key gentle melody.
Just then, the door that blends into the wall slid open silently.
The Black Curtain Lady's figure appeared at the doorway, still in her usual attire, forming a subtle contrast with the room's warm tones.
She has come to check on the condition of this special Golden Descendant.
Ti Bao keenly heard the movement, she snapped her head up, and the moment she saw who had come, her ruby‑like eyes burst with dazzling brilliance!
"Mom!"
She cried out joyfully, instantly dropped what she was doing, and like a happy little bird rose and lunged at the Black Curtain Lady!
Her movement carried a trusting urgency, completely ignoring the actual height difference between them (Ti Bao is tall and mature, even slightly taller than the Black Curtain Lady), she firmly embraced the Black Curtain Lady, rubbing her cheek affectionately against the latter's head.
The Black Curtain Lady was staggered slightly by this sudden enthusiastic hug, a hint of helplessness flashing across her face.
She was forced to bear this overly heavy "motherly love," inwardly she rubbed her forehead:
(Again… mother… in what way do I resemble her mother? Hair color? Eye color? Temperament? It's utterly unrelated!)
Despite her inner complaints, seeing Ti Bao's pure, unblemished joy, the Black Curtain Lady swallowed her protest, raised a hand, and somewhat stiffly patted Ti Bao's back, speaking in as gentle a tone as she could: "All right, Ti Bao, I'm here."
Just then, Ti Bao noticed a small figure behind the Black Curtain Lady—pink hair, blue eyes, cautiously peeking out: Xi Lian.
"Wow!"
Ti Bao's eyes widened further, filled with delight, as if she had discovered some rare treasure.
She immediately released the Black Curtain Lady, who inwardly sighed in relief, then opened her arms and lunged at Xi Lian once more!
"Sister! It's my sister who's come!"
Xi Lian was completely dazed, enfolded in a tight hug by the fiery‑haired big sister, her whole face buried in the other's soft chest that exhaled a faint floral scent.
(Huh?! Wait… sister? Me? Whose sister am I?)
Her mind went blank; she could only feel the force of the tight embrace and the breath‑taking (physically) enthusiasm, her cheeks instantly flushed, her hands and feet at a loss.
The Black Curtain Lady watched the bizarre scene before her, full of promising momentum, and the corner of her mouth twitched uncontrollably again.
(Even a sister has popped up… what kind of structure is this cognitive impairment? Random kin‑recognition?)
Xi Lian finally managed to wriggle a sliver of space from Ti Bao's embrace, she shot a pleading look at the Black Curtain Lady, her azure eyes brimming with the panic of "What on earth is going on?!"
The Black Curtain Lady helplessly raised a hand to her forehead, decided to change the subject, turned her gaze to the table where Ti Bao had been busy, and asked in as natural a tone as she could: "Ti Bao, what were you just… doing?"
Indeed, Ti Bao's attention was successfully drawn.
She loosened her grip on Xi Lian a little, but still kept one hand tightly around Xi Lian's waist, as if fearing she might run off, while with the other hand she eagerly took hold of the Black Curtain Lady, like a child presenting a treasure, happily leading both toward the table.
The Black Curtain Lady carefully stepped around the variously shaped Ti Bao dolls on the floor and came to the side of the table.
Ti Bao pointed at the object on the table, her voice excited: "Mom, look! I'm doing handicraft!"
The Black Curtain Lady followed her gaze, then her eyes locked on it, and the corner of her mouth began its familiar twitch once more.
On the table lay an object, still and quiet.
It was certainly not the rough sort of thing one would see in an ordinary children's handicraft class.
Its structure… was extraordinarily delicate!
The main body was made of some lightweight wood and Silver Light Blade‑flashing thin metal sheets, the lines smooth, the layers distinct, and even the tail bore a miniature Thruster structure.
This was clearly an exquisitely crafted—rocket model!
Its craftsmanship was superb, its details rich, completely unlike a handicraft product, more like an artwork polished in a high‑end workshop with professional equipment.
It is hard to imagine that Ti Bao made this by hand from those simple materials.
The Black Curtain Lady looked at this model, which clashed with the room's classical cozy style, and her eye corner twitched slightly.
(A rocket? Making a rocket in this setting?)
Ti Bao then held Xi Lian, naturally placing her on her crossed legs, encircling her in her arms, and rested her chin affectionately on Xi Lian's head.
Xi Lian's body stiffened, her cheeks flushed slightly, embarrassed to the point of not knowing where to put her hands and feet.
The Black Curtain Lady decided to probe Ti Bao's cognitive world further, she pondered and said: "Um… Ti Bao, why do you call Xi Lian 'sister'?"
Ti Bao tilted her head at the words, her red hair flowing like a waterfall to one side, her face showing an innocence bordering on cluelessness, and she said matter‑of‑factly: "Sister is just sister!"
Her tone was blunt, utterly devoid of logic.
The Black Curtain Lady endured and continued: "Then… why do you think I am 'mom'?"
Ti Bao tilted her head again, answering with the same pure, unquestionable tone: "Mom is just mom!"
(…Ah this.)
The Black Curtain Lady felt a wave of helplessness.
This is basically talking to a duck when you're a chicken—no effective communication possible.
She changed tack, deciding to test Ti Bao's view of the outside world "No—!": "Ti Bao, do you want… to go out? Leave this room and see what's outside?"
In the Black Curtain Lady's view, Ti Bao showed such strong curiosity and enthusiasm at her and Xi Lian's arrival that she ought to long for freedom.
However, Ti Bao's answer once again defied her expectations.
"No!"
Ti Bao almost immediately shook her head, answering decisively, without a hint of hesitation.
Heimu froze for a moment, then pressed on: "Why don't you want to?"
On Ti Bao's bright face, a frown-like expression appeared for the first time; she muttered, her voice tinged with resistance and... fear?
"Outside...... it's dangerous. I don't want to go out."
She even turned the question on Heimu, her eyes full of incomprehension: "Why go out?"
Heimu fell silent for a moment.
She looked around this warm, comfortable room stuffed with dolls and soft cushions, yet also airtight.
This place is safe, yet it is also a gilded cage.
"Because of freedom."
Heimu's voice was soft, yet it carried a kind of power: "You can see different scenery, experience different things, and not merely be trapped in this little world."
Ti Bao listened, a troubled thoughtful expression appearing on her face; she glanced at Heimu, then lowered her gaze to Xi Lian in her arms, as if weighing an extremely difficult choice.
Finally, she still shook her head firmly, raising her voice like a pouting little girl:
"No——don't!"
