Chapter 958: Loli‑Grade A Bo Ni Ya!

~6 min read 1,175 words

Heimu's gaze swept from the girl's crown to her toes, then from the toes back to the crown.

She was less than 1.4 meters tall.

Her face was round, and beneath the cinched bodice lay a still‑undeveloped flatness.

Those ice‑blue eyes remained gentle, but on that little face the gentleness carried an unmistakable childishness.

Is this A Bo Ni Ya's child?

When the thought sprang in Heimu's mind, the corner of her mouth twitched slightly.

While Heimu was still reshaping her Cognition, Pa Duo at her feet blurted out exactly what she was thinking.

The tri‑color chubby cat crouched beside Heimu's boot, its eyes staring blankly at the tiny nun silhouette in the center of the arena, its mouth half‑open, whiskers standing straight, and its fluffy Tail stiffened behind it into an exclamation‑point shape.

"A Bo Ni Ya?!"

The reply was a bolt of golden lightning.

One of the mechanical constructs, at the instant Pa Duo shouted "A Bo Ni Ya", snapped its head around; the golden electric sparks dancing inside its glass‑capped head burst into a dazzling white flash.

A lightning bolt shot from the exact center of the gear disc on its shoulder, moving so fast the naked eye could only see a golden line streak across the arena, then it struck Pa Duo's head with pinpoint accuracy.

Zzz—crack!

Pa Duo didn't even have time to cry out.

The lightning hurled her straight up from the ground; her four short legs kicked twice in the air, every hair standing on end, and her fur crackled with tiny sparks in the Lingering Aftertaste of the golden flash.

Her Tail exploded into a perfect fur ball, even the dark tuft at the tip standing up like a hedgehog.

Then she crashed back to the ground, legs up in the air, a thin wisp of black smoke curling from her belly.

The air filled with the smell of singed cat fur.

Pa Duo remained in the legs‑up pose for a moment, then slowly rolled over, front paws bracing the ground while her hind legs still trembled.

Her cat face was mottled black and white from the shock, three whiskers curled, a small patch of fur at the tip of her ears was singed, she blinked twice, then opened her mouth.

A thin wisp of white smoke drifted out of her mouth.

"We..."

Pa Duo's voice was hoarse and trembling, "I just called out A Bo Ni Ya sister's name, why did you strike me—!"

Heimu lowered her head and glanced at the still‑smoking cat at her feet.

Pa Duo lifted her head, looking pitifully at Heimu with those slightly reddened heterochromatic eyes, her whiskers still exhaling faint smoke.

"Madam—"

Pa Duo's voice dragged a sobbing tone, "Did I get disfigured? My whole life I rely on this fur to get by; if I become a bald cat, how will I face anyone—!"

Heimu stared at her expressionlessly for a moment.

Then she raised her hand, her slender fingers flicking lightly in the air.

A gentle pale Purple Aura spilled from her fingertips, covering Pa Duo.

The singed fur restored to its original color and sheen at a visible speed within the aura.

Pa Duo bowed her head to inspect her restored coat, blinked, then scrambled up on her four short legs, darting behind Heimu's boot, exposing only half a cat head and two ears standing straight up.

"Thank you, madam."

Her voice returned to normal speed, yet still trembled with fear.

Heimu gave no reply to Pa Duo's muttering.

She turned her head back to the open space ahead, raised her right hand slightly, and the Magic Staff's violet light surged suddenly.

The violet crystal at the tip spun several times faster, forming a visible pale Purple Aura around it.

Then she gave the staff a gentle forward swing.

All the mechanical constructs disassembled simultaneously.

The golden lightning, freed from its metallic casing, flailed in the air for a moment before turning into strands of gold smoke that dissolved into the maze's dim green light.

The whole process lasted only an instant.

From Heimu's staff swing to the last screw hitting the ground took roughly the time for Pa Duo to blink twice.

The tiny nun silhouette in the arena's center stood quietly in place.

The mechanical constructs that had just whirled around her were now a heap of scattered parts on the ground; the nearest fragment lay only a few centimeters from her toes, yet she did not even step back.

She stood there, her ice‑blue eyes calmly gazing at the pile of parts before her, then slowly lifted her head to look at Heimu standing at the arena's edge.

Their gazes met amid the maze's dim green illumination.

Heimu narrowed her eyes slightly.

She was now less than twenty paces from the girl; the violet crystal's glow was enough to illuminate the subtlest expression on her face.

A gentleness bordering on compassion.

It could be confirmed she was A Bo Ni Ya.

Yet this version, with its chubby infant‑round face still not fully faded and a height a whole head shorter than Heimu, gave that holy‑compassionate expression a subtle contrast.

Probably she, like Pa Duo, had also been affected.

The mutation in Past World Paradise distorted everyone's form to varying degrees: Kesi Mo's nature shifted, Ge Lei Xiu's body grew while his mind lagged, Wei Er Wei turned into a Q-version Little Person, and Sakura changed appearance.

Since several of them had changed, there was nothing surprising about A Bo Ni Ya becoming a little girl.

Heimu sheathed the Magic Staff at her side and stepped forward.

Pa Duo poked half a cat head out from behind the boot, saw Heimu already several steps ahead, and hurriedly sprinted on all fours, weaving among the metallic shards, her Tail upright like a tiny flagpole.

Heimu stopped three paces away from the little girl.

From this distance she could see the other's facial details more clearly: golden‑brown hair fell beneath a veil, and the ice‑blue pupils reflected the staff's violet light and the maze walls' green patterns, the two hues weaving a tranquil tableau in her eyes.

The teardrop mole beneath her left eye appeared especially distinct under Heimu's gaze, adding an age‑incongruous serenity to her still‑infantile face.

Heimu lowered her eyelids, the dark‑purple pupils lingering on the little girl for a moment, then she spoke.

"A Bo Ni Ya?"

The little girl lifted her head, her ice‑blue eyes calmly meeting Heimu.

Then she nodded.

"Madam, hello."

Her voice was soft and gentle, curving slightly into an arc.

That smile appeared on the face of a little girl less than 1.4 meters tall, yet it seemed entirely natural.

Heimu looked at her and was silent for a moment.

Then she also nodded.

"Hmm."

Pa Duo poked her head out from beside her leg, her heterochromatic eyes scanning A Bo Ni Ya up, down, left and right several times, then, in a low voice as if she had discovered a new continent, said, "Sister, you're so small."
